I can't see them risking a budget of $100,000,000 on an unknown untried actor.
Titanic was a $200 Million production, and Leo DiCaprio was a relative unknown at the time, now granted he had a few starring roles in smaller films before that. If they did a Bond film for that much money, the planes, missiles, and explosions of buildings would be real. maybe the budget is about $20 million.

The only one who can recreate a Moore-Era.
Be honest... If you want Bond back in action you need a lot of humour. More
humour in Die another day would be the only way to accept an invisible car
or other things and save the film.
Connery-Era was wonderful, (I agree, I love that movies) but nobody can play
Bond like Sean. So, only a light touch can save the series; infact Moore
made survive the character in seventies and eighties with an incredible
worldwide success.
If EON will return to dark stories the new feature will bomb. No doubt.

If Hugh Grant is too old... (remember Sir Roger started to play Bond at 46!)
another choice is Ewan McGregor.
It's my first post, please don't destroy me!!!
Thanks!

I have no doubt: the man to play the next Bond is Hugh Grant.

Welcome! I concur that Hugh Grant would work well in a Moore vein--I wouldn't complain at all with that and he has show lately how he can play steely when needed also. That said Connery style can work also.

I Think Pierce Brosnan should at least do one more, I mean what if all of the press stuff is to just trick us and to hype up the potential out of the movie you know im not saying thats true but what if. And I think Pierce Brosnan should have a right to go out in style (in a better bigger budget film than Die Another Day) not saying "DAD" was bad though
P.s I honestly can't see Hugh Grant as the nex Bond
I agree with both of your comments.
You seem like a very intelligent and sensible person.
Welcome to CBn.

Both have a good height and build, and at 34 they are the ideal age for a new Bond. The debonair Penry-Jones reminds me of a young Roger Moore with a little extra steel, although he would need to darken his blond locks. Armitage has a rougher edge, a somewhat aquiline nose, and puts me in mind of a darker haired Sean Bean. In the UK, he seems to have acquired a legion number of female fans in a record short time!
Penry-Jones stars in the new series of the excellent Spooks(MI-5 in the US) from 12th September on BBC1. Armitage headlines ITV1's new medical drama The Golden Hour from 14th September.

Personally, I prefer Pierce Brosnan for Casino Royale. Not because he has a right to go out in style, or because CR will be a bigger budget and better Bond film than DAD. I just happen to think that Brosnan is the best candidate at this particular moment in time. If Brosnan were to appear as Bond in CR it would allow some valuable extra time for a natural and popular successor to emerge.
However, regardless of what I think, it seems very unlikely now that Brosnan will return.

Stewart was never in the frame.
Cover up story by a mistaken journalist who misread and marked the wrong Scotsman that was spotted meeting Babs and Michael.
Rather than admit the error and say the man who will be Bond is ????????????
they named Ewan Stewart incorrectly and didnt own up to the mistake.
Thats FACT.
My mate works on the paper that ran the lead story.

First post on a great forum from what I've seen. (Just recently found CBn)
Jason Stratham, mentioned earlier, would make a great bond....
Yes he is bald. I understand the commercial limitations this can have in the 007 world.
"bond" has the presence of a confident (if not overly to his possible demise sometimes), intelligent, caring, loyal, vindictive and deadly persona... with a slap of humor/sarcasm. Hey, I think Jason can pull it off.
I'm hoping that the next Bond & Film will set a barometer for the next session that COULD follow closer to Flemming's pace and stance. A good grow-into-role so to speak for the next 5-10 years? A boy can dream can't he?
Here are my and mine alone opinions on the suggested Bonds... And we all know about opinions.
In a non-Bond environment these guys are all great actors and I'm sure really good shlts.
1. Mr. Jackman... Really a more handsome Kevin Spacey don't you think?...he's all set with the whole Wolverine thing.
2. Daniel Craig...I'd have to watch some of his movies but from the pictures...all I see is the ears (no offense Daniel) and Connery had those covered in the earlier movies.
3. Clive Owen... a good second choice. Has the physical presence and emotional range to be a bond. Thought he was great in Closer I think it was. What a calm killer he could be.
4. Hugh Grant... Please, maybe a secondary Hench called -Grant Per Misseon- that goes in a horrific yet some how comedic way....right after his boyfriend Hench #1 goes out.
5. Jude Law... Please again. He could be Hench #1... -Lude Jaw- But then again, that's already been done..with somehow more masculine actors.
6. Ewan McGregor... A good possibility...although the "wars" thing has kind of put a certain image of him in my mind recently. Mainly chunky and "Obi-One-Kind-Of-Robe-ee". I think he could do it during the next phase. Let's see the white dinner jacket and black pants on him first.
7. Colin Salmon... Wasn't he in DAD? You just can't do that. He'd make a great spin-off though. Can he be violently raw enough for my Bond? Maybe. (have to see Death Race 3K to know for sure) Get Greg Rucka to write him a break out starring film.
8. Christian Bale... Ca-Reeepie. I've only seen him in Batman Begins Yet Stinkin AGAIN and in the great movie American Phsycho. Did anybody else wake up for a week questioning reality? Maybe it was just me. Maybe I should have quite drinking in that decade. I think he could be bond...if I were to want a bond that would constantly get an A55 beating. No offense Christian. It's just personal.
9. Collin Farrell... Just don't see it. Recruit wasn't bad...because of Paccino. He was good in Phone Booth for Christian Bale reasons like wanting his a55 to be kicked... "Step away from the booth. Kick the director's, screen writer's and anyone else's a55 envolved" I'd like his agent. Maybe I can get a gig that pays twice as good, has been done twice over and should be twice thrown out. Colin, go for a stretch, I'm sure you have the talent. Show what ya got or be the third in the "-Grant Per Misseon-, -Lude Jaw- threesome...Mr. --Colon Virile-."
10. Dominic West... The second listed choice that I have not seen a movie of. Maybe? Looked at online pix, could be? Mighty varied career spanning 15 years with just a few biggies and more than a Q-dept. full of obscurities? I like it.
11. Robbie Williams... Shlt I would love to see it. He can be Bond and sing the theme song... work in a Karaokee thing where the secret spy bltch loves to sing or something...come on, we've all done it or seen it at the bar/pub. If the guy was 4 inches taller he'd be a shoe in. I think a diminutive Bond could work. If there is a "lift shoe" bond out there, it should be this dude.
12. Matthew Broderick...oh, that's right, he wasn't on your poll. He should be. Short he is but this guy can act, and for sure he can take a beating...something every bond has to be able to do in a believeable fashion...to suspend belief that he will make it out. Which he always does.
"make it out"
this is something I may not do after my first post to this forum.
Moderator, please do not have my IP blocked as I'd like to continue to read the great stuff.
I'll keep my posts to a quickie in the future.
