They're really not that bad. I think fans are worrying about this all far too much in my opinion.
thank you
OK...not "that bad"...but I don't want to settle when it comes to James Bond. I hope we don't have to. If one of these guys can dazzle me, great, but I hope it isn't a case of settling.

Daniel Craig is beginning "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" next month. Seems unlikely that filming would end before January. Also seems unlikely he could film Casino Royale in January, if he has to promote the film.
Good.
Like Butler if Eon wanted him there is just enough room in their schedules probably to still do CR--so not quite out of it yet.

Indeed, a certain amount of "bad blood" reported in the media may even prove advantageous for Brosnan, Eon and Sony. After all, everyone likes a "comeback", especially those involving the reconciliation of showbiz rifts. Look at, I dunno, Pink Floyd reuniting for Live8.

Brosnan loyalists have taken every opportunity to mention John Gavin and James Brolin, two men who were signed to play Bond but who never stepped in front of the camera. I can't see how their circumstances match the circumstances of Brosnan's departure. Roger Moore never publicly repudiated the producers. EON never stated unequivocally that he would not be returning. There was never such a long hiatus between two Roger Moore films. And I doubt that the general public was aware that Gavin or Brolin had been cast, since it was all happening behind closed doors. Today we have the Internet and online entertainment rumour-mills. Thanks to Internet news services, it's now common knowledge that Brosnan does not intend to come back, and moreover that he detests EON's handling of the franchise. Even if EON wanted to "lure him back", due to some masochistic desire to humiliate themselves publicly, it wouldn't be the simple matter it was in the early 80's. Everyone would see that both parties had blatantly gone back on their word.

Just saw a great photo of Ralph Fiennes in TIME magazine and he looks very Bond. At 42 though he's probably too old for the role but he screams Hoagy Carmichael type Bond. I'd prefer him to Purefoy as he is a much better actor.
I mentioned Ralph Fiennes also--he'd be a fine Bond if he'd take the role and his age is fine if Eon goes for the regular age Bond which they may.

1. American Indian actor Jay Tavare. He lived in Britain as a boy and has the accent down cold.
