The Next James Bond?

One thing is certain. Sony has a lot riding on Bond 21. The Bond series has been enormously profitable (the four Brosnan films especially) and I doubt Sony would want to see a reversal of that trend, so they will have to choose Bond #6 very carefully.
I can't see them risking a budget of $100,000,000 on an unknown untried actor.

Eon has their man.
As to when they will announce him, I don't have a good sense of that.

If Jackman really ever decide to turn down the Bond like if he ever turn down, I will prevent him from playing his other project like I want to break his leg to stop him from going anywhere. Sorry I don't have a choice to say it. I hope they let him walk off like that.

If is an unknown actor to take the Bond, it will be a total flop, and he will be cancer to Bond.
Doesn't it seem to be a bit premature to say that? George Lazenby was a relative unknown at the time of doing On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and that film has now become one of the very best in the series in the eyes of many fans.

My gut feeling:
Eon has their man.
As to when they will announce him, I don't have a good sense of that.
I share the same gut, Bon-san.
My instincts tell me it's been decided. The announcement will follow in September/October. And I follow instincts, not orders, sir!
And it won't be the "Final Four".
It might not even be anyone new at all.
And Seannery, for Bon-san, surely it's "Sensei"?

No way now can brosnan come back and with the primary(public voted)candidates out the running I think we all have a surprise ahead.
No one predicted Dalton in 86.
Everyone however felt that Pierce was the obvious choice in 94.
Its interesting that on the poll that Clive Owen was streets ahead with Jackman and now the none of the above poll is ahead.
Gerard Butler is the best choice now in my opinion, looks right carries himself well and speaks eloquently.
He is of the age that could see him do 5 movies before moving on too.
Owen I believe is 42 so he would maybe do 3 then he would start creaking so a no brainer for me.
I actually like Clive Owen and I think his recent rise to fame is deserved but I dont figure him for Bond at all.
I still believe Dougray Scott was the best option but I bellieve he has now ruled himself out ala Jackman , yet i have it on good account he had been offered the role in February and refused it for whatever artistic differences they cite.
The role will be a poisoned chalice for whoever takes it on especially after the universal popularity that Pierce Brosnans tenure had taken the franchise too.
Needs an extremely breathtaking opening sequence to bring the new guy in.
Like Goldeneye and The Living Daylights 2 of the best intros of all Bond time.

Now *that* is interesting. I've seen a few shots of Scott where he looks Bondian, and I can see that he'd be a reasonably safe choice (though can't imagine he'd bring a lot of flair to the role). But he usually looks fairlyy weatherbeaten. As does Daniel Craig, who they also apparently offered the role. So perhaps we'll have a big surprise. And I wonder if Scott *did* turn it down - perhaps your contact told you that to throw you off the scent. Because what I can't figure out is Ewan Stewart. He can't be a real candidate, but how can he be a smokescreen? Nobody would make that up. Except, perhaps, Dougray Scott, who it looks might be friends with him:
http://www.wireimage...1&sfld=C&nbc1=1 and search for Ewan Stewart in the left-hand panel if it doesn't appear at once.
Wild speculation, I know.

JERSEY-BORN actor Henry Cavill could be the next James Bond in the long-running movie series.
Mr Cavill is said to be on a shortlist of four contenders for the role of British secret service agent 007, who has been played in the past by actors including Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.
Mr Cavill is currently living in Los Angeles, and his agent, Duncan Millership, said that the 22-year-old former St Mich-ael's pupil was indeed in the running for the role.
He said: 'Henry is certainly on a list for Bond, although we are not aware how many others are on that list - so we cannot say how short it is.'

I think the key sentence in this story is, "Henry is certainly on a list for Bond, although we are not aware how many others are that list-so we cannot say how short it is."
This indicates the list for Bond may not be quite final and may easily be more than the so called final four. Still a bit of suspense there.

Certainly Eon could (and might!) do worse, though.

As I said, I like him. He was bloody brilliant as the heroic (and American!) Dick Winters in "Band of Brothers." Just fabulous. I hope he got a screen test...he deserves it, on the basis of acting chops alone!
