Great points Seannery. One fact remains that is glaringly overlooked with Adrian Paul is his age 46. By the time CR hits the screen he'll be 47 pushing 48. Way too old to start a career as 007. OK Roger was 46, but he looked boyish still at 46. Paul looks his age or older. Why would EON hire a guy who would only be able to make 2 or 3 films before aging himself out of the role? They want long term stability in the role and Paul right now isn't the right fit. 10 years ago he would have been great.
Thanks Forever007. Though we will have to agree to disagree on the age issue. I couldn't disagree more on that point. Adrian Paul is EXACTLY like Roger and Pierce for that matter in looking very youthful for his age. And would have filmed at 46 while being 47 and a few months at release of the film. He would look the equivalent age that Roger, Timothy and Pierce did at their starts also--you would be hard pressed to see a visible age difference. Being extremely well cast, having a USA connection with his modest though solid TV fame and having a suprisingly strong base of Bond supporters would give him a very good chance to launch a successful new Bond. Moreso than almost all other candidates IMO and therefore if he could get past that difficult threshold of launching a new Bond then his age isn't vital especially since he is very youthful looking. It's rare to get someone who has a strong chance at success for Bond and if you find that then jump at it. Roger was fine up to Octopussy at age 56, Pierce looks-wise can do Bond now at age 53 and I submit could easily do one more after that at age 56. I like an experienced mature Bond who still looks good--like Roger, Pierce and Adrian. If they still do a 3 year wait Adrian can do easily 3 films and very probably 4--like Roger's Octopussy Bond at 56 and what Pierce can easily do if they let him. That is more than enough considering you get someone extremely well suited that would give a strong chance of keeping the series strong. By then we will have a whole new generation of possible strong candidates to look at. Obviously we disagree on this specific point my friend BUT hey it would be boring if we all thought the same.

I think he already looked too old to be in DAD, frankly.

He looks considerably younger than Sean in DAF, Roger in FYEO, OCT, and AVTAK.
Considerably.
Quite. Compare to Bond in Diamonds Are Forever and in A View To A Kill.

Maybe I'm crazy but Ioan Gruffudd is the only credible actor not to speak of the Bond role at all, even with the flying rumours of late. He's 30 and comes highly recommened from EON's favorite Bond and personal friend Tim Dalton. IF CR is indeed a Bond begins then Owen must be thrown out completely based on his age. I cannot believe Orlando Bloom would be seriously considered given his teenage boy looks and build. I have a strange feeling it might just be Ioan Gruffudd or as a stretch perhaps Gerard Butler. Just food for thought.

Martin Campbell
Does this lead you to believe Clive Owen would be right for the part at 42? I think we're looking at an 30-35 year old Bond.

The name's Bond, Miss Bond Actress Famke Janssen asks why the next 007 must be a man. #951Posted 19 April 2005 - 09:49 AM
Yeah, and why can

It's amusing to see how often actors associated with the franchise like to make comments along the female-Bond, black-Bond lines.

Yes, Bond should ALWAYS be a white BRITISH, IRISH or Australian (not as much) MAN.

Bond should never be Moomoo.

Scottish is British. I hadn't thought about South African but I'd struggle to think of a South African actor.

DVDAnswers.com just put up the cover art for Nip/Tuck Season 2. It wouldn't let me copy the image to post here but you can click on the link to see it. It makes you wondering if they're doing a little campaigning!
