It is a great day for Bond fans, and especially us hardcore Dalton fans! I can't wait for Casino Royale, and I think that this news of Owen's being Bond dispells the idea that this will be a "Bond Begins" movie. What a great day! Clive Owen IS James Bond!

Thanks, got it. So that's what all the fuss is about?

No, it is pretty much a day like any other for Bond fans. Owen has once again dodged a direct question, and aside from a comment from a questionable source on another website which I hadn't even heard of until today (or as some people call them a "rumour" :) ) nothing has ben confirmed or denied ... again.

Ofcourse he dodged the question, but the WAY he dodged it given his previous interviews makes it plain to see he's Bond. He smiled broadly and said he would be very busy three times hinting he wanted to say more but could not. I guess we'll see soon.

It can still be a Bond begins with owen as he is still in the right age group to be new to the 00 section.

I have to bring it up again: it is highly unlikely that after all of the opportunities he has had, Owen would start dropping hints to an obscure reporter from a comics focused webpage during a 60 second red carpet interview. That bit about the mysterious "associate of Owen's who works with him" is pure rumour mongering.

You Owen supporters are too obess for him to play Bond, but Casino Royale's name for the Bond movie is too lame, and Owen will fit in as Bond in the lame Bond film.

All the Owen supporters and the tabloids will "REST IN PEACE". Have you ever heard the wrestler named the Undertaker, he always said that. Taker will come to Owen and his supporters beating them up, and buried them with the Tombstone. I always take Jackman as Bond and I have to be neutral.

It's Owen's head (with a bad shave) photoshopped onto a somebody wearing a tux and carrying a gun. Not saying it isn't nice work! :) . However, just like the Croupier pictures, it isn't screaming Bond at me, especially when you put it into context: the man doesn't want the role. If I all wanted was a guy in a tuxedo, I would flip through a wedding magazine and pick the most "Bond" looking model. But I think we all want a talented actor with the right qualities that will treat the role with respect. Owen has the talent (I still question the qualities), but doesn't have the right attitude towards the role.

What are the chances of getting an updated poll, with say, Owen, Butler, McMahon, and whomever else is deemed to be a legit contender at this point?

Here's a collage I created devoted to Clive Owen. I tried to show many Bond-like poses and looks to give a better representation of what he would look like as Bond. Sorry the Bond pose I created earlier wasn't well received...

How about Clive Owen vs Gerard Butler? Who looks the most like 007?

I removed this pic to open room for others. I have a Clive Owen collage posted already and just posted a great pic of Gerard Butler as Bond minus the Phantom hair style.

Maybe Butler would look more suitable with a shave and a non-Phantom haircut.

Hope you don't think your work isn't appreciated! I really enjoy the photos you put together, but was just trying to point out that there is more to Bond than the tux.

Yes, there is more to Bond than a tux--and Clive Owen has it. Having just seen Sin City, I can vouch that Owen would be remarkable as Bond. He has everything you could want in a Bond actor: power, menace, humour, charisma, style, and acting talent. He completely dominates the scene.

EON would be nuckin' futs not to hire him.

I quite agree that it takes more than looking good in a tux to play 007. I simply made some collages and various 007 poses by oo7 contenders to see if they even look good in the tux. Clive Owen is a superstar waiting to happen I agree, but Gerard Butler is also very charismatic and has tons of screen presense too.

Obviously my choice is Owen, but I think Butler could do it as well. They would be very different, of course.

Must be honest, I have to say, Butler would be triple the Bond Owen could ever hope to be.
The issues of charisma, poise, voice, elegance, depth, expression and atmosphere all point me to Butler - far, far more.

I think Gerard Butler is the right choice for Bond too. Owen would be fabulous too, but is too old and will not want to be tied down to a multi picture deal. Butler wants it badly, he's still in his 30s and has all the right tools to do be an outstanding 007. If CR is really a film about Bond's early career then you have to go with Butler. I wish EON would simply come out and announce something. Fans areso sick of this constatnt speculation. There's a difference between free publicity and down right ridiculousness.

I'm going to take this opportunity to plead with EON to announce the next Bond. It's been almost 2 years since they started all this nonsense, and I think that it's high time for them to put their cards out on the table and announce something. Now that the sale to Sony is complete, the script is done, Martin Campbell is in place as the director, and Judi Dench has been cast as M, I think that it's time for EON to stop delaying the announcement. I think that it's disgusting for them to leave both the actor who they have chosen as well as us loyal fans twisting in the wind while they laugh at us behind closed doors in regards to the "rumors" that the media and these message boards have been throwing out there. It may be Clive Owen, it may be Hugh Jackman, it may be Gerard Butler, or it may be some completely unknown actor that nobody on the face of this earth knows about, but release the name already, and I'll be happy, no matter who it is. I don't think that I can stand another round of rumors, where an "Owenologist" or a "Jackmanologist" or a "Butlerologist" comes out and says that their man is in fact James Bond because of the way he talked to the press or the way that his body language was when in front of the cameras. I'm sick of it, because we all rush here thinking that we finally have a Bond, only to have our hopes crushed and to have EON laughing behind closed doors at what complete fools we have been. EON: ANNOUNCE BOND #6 NOW!

With all respect, maybe they're just still trying to decide, taking their time in the hope of making the right choice?
I think the wait could be worth it if they come up with a really good Bond.
I wouldn't want it to be someone just cause they're popular right now. I want it to be someone right.
Actually, I want it to be Gerard Butler.
But I'd rather wait months and hear that than hear about a nail in the coffin of the franchise next week.

Hey that's not a bad photo manip of Butler as Bond. The hair looks a little weird, but if you imagine good hair and a shaved face the picture screams Bond if you ask me.

I've reached the end and I will no longer speculate on who the new Bond is going to be. It would be a bad idea to resign Pierce for several reasons, but if they want him back, then it's fine by me. If they want Clive Owen, fine. If they even want to bring Sean Connery back, it's fine. If they want to hire Bruce Willis to play Bond, then I'm fine with that too, since the producers will probably make Casino Royale into a Bruce Willis-style action movie anyway, so who better to capture the subtle nuances of Bruce Willis' acting than Bruce Willis? Anyway, I'm done waiting and I'm done speculating, so I will now bow out of posting in the Casino Royale section of the board. There's really no point in doing so, so I bid all of you farewell until November 17, 2006, which will probably be the day that we find out who James Bond is. Happy hunting, EON, for Bond #6. Maybe you'll find him before the release date arrives.
