I created this little photo collage so folks can look at all the real Bond candidates next to each other. Forgive me for the picture of Greard Bulter in that awful hair style but it showed his face the best.
Top : Bale,Bana,Bloom,Butler,Craig,Crowe,Davenport,Farrell,Gruffudd,Jackman
Bottom : Law,Ledger,McGregor,McMahon,Northam,Owen, Paul,Purefoy,Scott,West
Forever007 I also add my congrats to your collage--very nice! Out of the candidates included(a very good wide selection) there are a number who I think can play Bond well. Having them pictured next to one another is very helpful. Though it isn't the best current picture of him I would pick Adrian Paul as the most Bondian in looks and talent. Second would be the very talented Jeremy Northem who the more I think of him the more he rises in my estimation. Then Hugh Jackman with the physicality and charms of Bond. Then Gerald Butler Bondian in looks and charisma. Then Ioann Gruffudd a bit slight but otherwise a strong candidate for a younger Bond. Christian Bale next who has a lot of Bondian qualities and has the look BUT a little too serious in personality. Then Jack Davenport who has a good look and a sophisticated charm though his toughness may not be up to par.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this would ever happen. There's no way they'd go for him, and I know that. But I think he would be great in the role. Think about it:
- he's got proven "leading man" status from Lost
- he's a big spunk!
- he's a known actor, but not so well known as to refuse to do a Bond-type role that might prevent him from doing other roles;
- he's young enough to fit the "Bond begins" storyline, if that's what they end up going with;
- did I mention he's a big spunk?!
I don't think it's a problem he's American. George Lazenby is proof that Bond doesn't have to have the most compelling English accent! What do people think about him as a suggestion, a "never-gonna-happen" one, but a suggestion nonetheless?

But Adrian Paul is one of the most underrated actors. I know that some of you will disagree with me but it's true. He has chosen some very different character roles in the last few years in independent films, to prove exactly that.
As for the Bond look, oh yeah, he's got it in spades! And he can carry the physical side of the role, along with the sexy charm and the lethal edginess, all required of Bond.
I know I run the risk of being flamed for this....but what the heck...
his website currently has 3 new pics of him on the home page, if you click refresh, you get to see the other ones. There is one in particular that actually SCREAMS Bond to me and that is the Black and White of him in black, looking very Bondish and sexy, leaning over a fence or gate. If you're lucky, it comes up when you access his site, if not, you'll get a rather somber one of him or a playful one of him in gold. Keep refreshing til you see the black and white.
If that's not a sexy Bond, I don't know one! And I've been watching Bond since Sean played him.

Please limit the number of flames tossed in my direction. I'm sensitive. LOL
But if others can name their Bond, I can pick mine!

Adrian Paul looks great and is maybe a better actor than he is percceived to be, but at 46 he is far too old for the role. If he would have been Bond in Goldeneye he may have become a mega star with his Conneryesque looks.
I've heard the age argument before and though I can see why people raise that point, it just doesn't sway me. That is also why I also support strongly Jeremy Northam at age 44. Of course if they go young Bond then a lot of candidates will be eliminated including Clive Owen. BUT if they go with Bond at his recent normal age ever since Roger Moore then 46 or 44 is fine. Dalton was 43 when he started, Pierce 42 and Roger 46. They all looked great and youthful for their age as Adrian Paul and Jeremy Northam also do making them fit right in the typical Bond age range. In fact you can't really percieve any age and looks difference between them and 40 year old Clive Owen with his lived in face. So if Eon follows their typical pattern of a mature 40 something then a wide variety of candidates would still be a possibility. And we know now Pierce was let go not because of his 52 years BUT money. After all this of course if they go immature Bond(which I doubt they will) we could end up with Orlando Bloom!

Sean Connery - age 32 - DN 1962
George Lazenby - age 30 - OHMSS 1969
Roger Moore - age 46 - LALD 1973
Timothy Dalton - age 41 - TLD 1987
Pierce Brosnan - 42 - GE 1995
I seldom find myself stumped on anything when it comes to Bond trivia or overall Bond knowledge, but Moore at 46 in LALD completely surprsied me. He looked very good for his age and I always thought he was 42 when he took the role. Thanks Seannery for pointing that out.
However, if EON wants a long term Bond with audiences wanting younger heros and such then any actor in their 40s would be far too old. Early to mid 30s would be perfect and hopefully set up Bond #6 for a long run of films. I do not like the changing of hat too often. Each Bond should have his own ERA. Just my take.

It's not just a question of age deciding if an actor is too old or too young for a role, but how they look at that age too. I wonder what some of the specifications Eon has this time.

Did anybody mention Paul Blackthorne? He has got the looks, he is British and he is a good actor. Maybe someone will remember him as the villain in the third season of 24. IMHO he would be perfect as the next Bond...
I'm always one for checking out new names, but I'm not sure about him. Really, people are giving McMahon grief about his forehead.

it would just like making Superman black.
Let me put it this way- what if they said that they were remaking Beverly Hills Cop and putting Ben Stiller in the role of Axel Foley?
Why not a Black secret agent that stands on his own two feet that is not a Bond rip-off?
Let him fight believable villains and rely more on his wits and not gadgets and who can't get the girl?

People face it, Jackman have won the poll vote, and he should be Bond. Despite Jackman play the gay character in the broadway, and a mutant in two X-Men movies, he can do Bond, because his face is young as the 36 year old man, he's the action man in other movies was mostly are Bondish, his British accent of the Australian was good, and his charm for women are impressive.
