It really isn't just a "few" of us who think Adrian has what it takes to make a great James Bond. And there are men signing this thing too....not all women.
Just felt I should point that out.

Many were suggested by MSNBC respondents including James Purefoy, Colin Salmon, Dougray Scott, Idris Elba, Gerald Butler, Pierce Brosnan, Hugh Jackman, Sean Bean, Julian McMahon, Denzal Washington, Michael Vartan, Clive Owen, Patrick Dempsey, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Russell Crowe, Johnny Lee Miller, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Jason Stratham, Tim Daly and others. Out of this whole bunch Adrian Paul stood out easily with the most support which isn't suprising since he has often shown good support in Bond polls in which he is included in. What is somewhat suprising is that how easily Pierce Brosnan and Hugh Jackamn swamped the other 7 listed candidates though at least Clive Owen had some respectable support at a distant third.
The nextbond.net James Bond poll is more inclusive with 29 candidates(but no Pierce Brosnan) therefore making the percentages smaller except for the first two candidates who are running away with it in a tight horse race. Adrian Paul has 25.1% and Gerald Butler 24.5% in a very close race. Clive Owen is quite a ways back in third with 10.5% then Julian McMahon 6.5%, Hugh Jackman 5.3% and Christian Bale 4.5%. The other 23 candidates have very little support and they include Jude Law, James Purefoy, Ewan Mcgregor, Daniel Craig, Dougray Scott, Jason Isaacs, Jack Davenport, Orlando Bloom, Colin Firth and others.
The Bond candidates that are garnering support and passion in these polls are Pierce Brosnan, Hugh Jackman, Adrian Paul, Clive Owen, Gerald Butler and maybe Julian McMahon though he's not as strong as the others.

As far as I can tell nextbond.net is a new site without an existing readership. The chances of a lot of people finidng it by accident are small, so my guess they targetted fan forums, particlularly those associated with Bond and the actors on their list (and I've seen several such posts). So what happens is, a lot of Adrian Paul and Gerard Butler fans go and vote for their man whereas the Jackman and Owen fans yawn and say no thanks. It's measuring something, but I'm not sure what.
The MSNBC poll looks like it might have a better sample. They have a large, existing audience and results are plausible. The better known actors, particularly those who have been linked with Bond in the media, have done well. I thought 17% was a very strong showing for Owen - it shows how much his profile has risen over the last few months.

A poll where Adrian Paul and Gerard Butler have half of the votes is seriously flawed. It tells us there are people who'd like to see these actors as Bond, but it's not something that can be extrapolated to cover the wider population.

Well the nextbond.net poll could be found by anyone especially anyone who is a Bond fan which is an important group to measure. All candidates who have strong supporters and see this would have their supporters vote--this happens in polls of this type have this happen all the time. This does measure passion and depth for any particular candidate and is a good sign for anyone who does well even if it isn't scientific. Strictly speaking not many polls are scientific unless done by Gallop and that ilk. But nonetheless it is a good sign. The MSNBC poll is also unscientific BUT does measure support with Bond fans and probably even moreso general fans. In both polls Owen does respectably and third. While Adrian Paul does well in both also. Pierce Brosnan obviously is not a suprise by his popularity.

I used to have a nextbond website, you might remember it. A couple Adrian Paul fans spreaded my link around a few message boards, and just like that Paul had about 5 times more votes than any other candidate. I thought it was unfair so I cleared his votes. And then I got a bunch of mad e-mails.
Well he does have a bunch fans which is good for him and he does have passion behind him. That is a plus. When it comes down to it any Bond poll is unscientific but it does show a certain popularity for certain actors for Bond. That Butler and Paul did well in that poll is good and a plus for them but of course not definitive--nothing is. And the MSNBC poll had large numbers that couldn't be swamped by Paul fans and he did very well there too. And that Paul did well in both polls speaks even better.
But when it comes down to it I don't think Eon and Sony will be looking at polls to decide on who will be Bond anyway. I'm sure it will be personal auditions and the like that will decide it.

Adrian Paul has come out ahead in quite a few polls, and some of them were not discovered by his usually enthusiastic fanbase but were representative of the readers to that site.
Adrian recently gave an interview for a San Diego publication regarding his role in his latest film, Tides of War, where he played a gay submarine commander. During the interview he is asked about BOND and his thoughts on it.
It's interesting to read his views on Bond and I think he was respectful of past Bonds in it.

Signing someone so close to Brosnan's age like Adrian Paul will not happen. At that point they would simply go with Pierce once again and change the story completely. It looks very much like Sony vs EON is a casting war. Hope this doesn't end up in a long drawn out battle like the post Dalton era.
Well Forever007 we'll have to agree to disagree on that one--if Eon has a sour relationship with Brosnan they'll take whoever would make the best Bond regardless of age. And all of us here have differing views on who would be the next Best Bond. Now who Eon thinks would be--NOW that's the question.
BUT with all this Daniel Craig buzz going on maybe all our debate will soon be moot. I'm starting to warm some to Craig as Bond. Not quite the conventional Bond looks BUT he does have a look that may work along with talent and a certain rough elegance.

i enjoy watching soccer but soccer is definitely not football, which happens to be a better sport
Here we go again... I'll leave the arguing to others in the old football vs the armoured elephants game argument.
