Fingers crossed we see a few background scenes of gadgets in development in Q's lab, ala the bullet proof vest and tear gas parking meter in Goldfinger.

"White Swann". Nice one, trevanian!

I've never believed "Mr White" was the character's real name. Indeed we've had a bit of colour coding throughout the Craig era. Mr White. Dominic Greene. Raoul Silva.

Here's an interesting tidbit: when Robbie Collin, film critic for the Telegraph, published his write up of the trailer he mentioned this bit of dialogue, which apparently was in the cut of the trailer shown to critics before the official release:

"'I came here to kill you' growls Bond,' seemingly in the corridor of some kind of secret facility. 'And I thought you came here to die' replies Oberhausen with a smirk."

For whatever reason, this bit of dialogue was edited out of the trailer released online. Sounds like a Goldfinger reference! Collin's piece was swiftly edited to reflect the change.

I hope the above doesn't count as a spoiler, delete the post if it does!

I'm really curious what the "secret facility" we see in the trailer is, where Waltz is wearing the famous outfit.

Now that we're assuming that Madeleine Swann is Mr. White's daughter, is Swann her married name (not that there's any indication she's married) or is that Mr White's real surname, in which case "White" has been a codename all this time?

The new trailer synopsis confirms that Madeleine definitely is Mr White's daughter.

I assume White is a codename, and his real surname is Swann - unless, of course, Madeleine took her mother's name instead.

Maiden name, of course! Madeleine White-Swann!   :P

If she'd just burst out singing, Bond could make a reference to her swann song ...

I may be dead wrong about this, but; at the funeral the chap in dark glasses we see from behind, who turns his head slightly - is it Bond? I've viewed the trailer - haven't we all? - several times and I wonder if it might be Oberhauser? In which case that line we're debating on another thread - "You came across me so many times but you never saw me" - might be relevant. Bond at the funeral concentrating on the grieving, highly attractive widow but never noticing his real prey is there all the time.

I repeat, I may be dead wrong though.

You're right. The man we see from behind at the funeral with the glasses on is Oberhauser.

He has Waltz's hair and profile.

Oh, I assumed everyone else saw that, too. It's definitely him. It's those small sideburns that give it away.

I've been excited and pleased with everything Spectre. The entire process has exceeded my expectations. After the latest trailer I'm going to be hugely disappointed if the movie doesn't include any OHMSS music. I didn't even know I needed it until I heard it again!

At the moment, my guess is the music was just for the trailer. But I wouldn't be complaining if Newman spliced in a OHMSS cameo during the Austria sequence. That would be something special. He included a Doctor No homage in Skyfall, during 'Enquiry'. So I wouldn't say it's a complete no-go zone for him.

What I really want to hear is the 007 Theme during that snow sequence. That would be thrilling.

Matt_13, do you mean the Monty Norman theme or the John Barry "007" theme? I wouldn't mind either during the snow scenes, but wouldn't be at all surprised if the theme from "OHMSS" somehow gets interpolated at some point. Certainly I like the way that theme is woven into the music for the recent trailer.

I like to think the chances of OHMSS getting woven into the score are pretty high now. Whatever way you like at it, they're higher than this time last week. I don't see the point in asking Newman to do a version of it purely for the trailer (if that's what happened). Fingers crossed.

It's happened before in the snow, hasn't it ?- and elsewhere. I'm thinking of the recurring "action/jeapody" theme written by John Barry for AVTAK, which had similarities to the main theme for OHMSS.

Agreed about Thomas Newman. Am I correct in thinking that he's been writing the score as the film has been shot rather than waiting for the first complete cut? Maybe the trailer music is loosely based on something we might well hear in the finished score?

John Barry's theme, last heard in MOONRAKER. I think that would be pretty special.

It sure would. Been advocating this for years. If the 007 theme and the OHMSS theme made glorious appearances in SP I would be one happy fan.

Yes, thinking about it, the 007 theme was played in all the SPECTRE based Bonds bar DN and OHMSS. John Barry hadn't yet been established as the resident Bond composer in the first and went for a different sound for a new Bond actor in the second. Uniting these two themes within an otherwise original score by Thomas Newman would be good, another hark back to the original SPECTRE era of Bond.

Yeah, i'm assuming this as well, but one wonders why use that particular choice at that point of the trailer. Any music could have been used really.

Why the few bars of music from OHMSS? Good question because to the paying public it's not the best known of the Bonds, although it is now very well regarded by most Bond fans.

Did the production team look at the predominance of snow scenes and think "OHMSS - let's use that in the trailer music"? It provides the background for many of the non-Austrian scenes also.

I can't help wondering if the film makers are sending us a hint about what to expect in the finished film, beyond just the sneak preview of any movie trailer. I interpret it as Spectre being a reworking of the classic Bond film of the 1960s, and possibly a twisted revisiting of the themes of one classic movie in particular.

I agree, Guy - the look of the trailer is something that could have been filmed for Connery in the 60s (now modern day). I always felt it's carrying that real dangerous espionage thriller that's been lacking in more modern Bonds.

I agree too. The Panavision photography seems to have been handled very like Bond of the 60s. interestingly, in terms of it colour palette and composition, it most put me in mind of Freddie Young's work on YOLT.

We've spotted FRWL in the train scene, GF in the gadget laden DB10 (Well, we know it's got a flame thrower!) and Bond's tuxedo, TB and the board meeting, and quite a bit of OHMSS which has been mentioned on this thread earlier.

Plus, let us not forget, the whole death imagery in the PTC scene which harks back to LALD.

Wondering where the references to DN, DAF and especially YOLT will crop up. Clue, perhaps, in the brief glimpse of Oberhauser in what appears to be a high tech control room owning up to causing all Bond's pain? (Mind you, that setting, and Oberhauser holding what looks like an iPad, reminded me also of a more recent Bond film, TND - the scenes where Elliot Carver is interacting with his board members and then writing his own front page headlines.)

Maybe I'm just slow in spotting this, or maybe I'm seeing something that's not there, but I was watching the trailer (maybe for the hundredth time), and it seems to me that, at the SPECTRE meeting in Rome, when Oberhauser looks up from his seat toward the balcony and he locks eyes with Bond, a look appears on Bond's face that appears to be recognition.  Could it be that these two men's eyes lock, and Bond suddenly realizes that he knows this man and remembers his own prior relationship with him?

Good evening Major Tallon,

You might be right - Bond recognises Oberhauser, or it might just be Bond looking on as Mr. Hinx beats that poor bloke into a pulp in the same meeting. (I guess flicking a switch and electrocuting, or throwing into the pihrana tank is just so 20th century these days!)

I noticed Bond's eyes narrowed in the first trailer in March when Mr White made that remark about a "kite dancing in a hurricane."
