According to a poster on the Doctor Who message board, when the new Doctor Who Magazine comes out tomorrow the list of writers will be revealed to be as follows:

1. Steven Moffat
2. Steven Moffat
3. Mark Gatiss
4. Steven Moffat
5. Steven Moffat
6. Toby Whithouse
7. Gareth Roberts
8. Chris Chibnall
9. Chris Chibnall
10. Richard Curtis
11. Simon Nye
12. Steven Moffat
13. Steven Moffat

Although episodes 2/3 and 7/11 could be the other way around.

So no scripts by either Gaiman or Fry, but I'm happy to wait till season 6 for those. And you know, I'm not going to quibble with six episodes written by Moffat.

Apparantly Moffett has said that no classic monsters are returning (daleks?), but a lot of new ones will be featured.

Did he say classic? I thought Moffat said no monsters from the previous series (RTD era) would be returning.

And am I the only one who's excited the Daleks are grey and black again?

I like that poster up above, except that they've made Smith's eyes the wrong colour; they're blue, not greenish-brown.

The Daleks are definitely coming back next season, as well as either the Silurians or the Sea Devils. Oh, and of course Moffat's Angels too.

I'm putting in my guess here that Neil Gaiman's episode will be the Christmas 2010 Special.

Huh. I always thought the name Koschei was made up by McIntee when he wrote The Dark Path and other DW authors just rolled with it. Koschei, it turns out, is a figure from Slavic mythology. And to quote Wikipedia:

In Slavic mythology, Koschei is an evil person of ugly senile appearance, menacing principally young women. Koschei is also known as Koschei the Immortal or Koschei the Deathless, as well as Tzar Koschei. Koschei cannot be killed by conventional means targeting his body. His soul is hidden separate from his body inside a needle, which is in an egg, which is in a duck, which is in a hare, which is in an iron chest (sometimes the chest is crystal and/or gold), which is buried under a green oak tree, which is on the island of Buyan, in the ocean. As long as his soul is safe, he cannot die. If the chest is dug up and opened, the hare will bolt away. If it is killed, the duck will emerge and try to fly off. Anyone possessing the egg has Koschei in their power. He begins to weaken, becomes sick and immediately loses the use of his magic. If the egg is tossed about, he likewise is flung around against his will. If the egg or needle is broken (in some tales this must be done by specifically breaking it against Koschei's forehead), Koschei will die.

Rather fitting for the Master, don't you think? Can't help but wonder how McIntee knew about Koschei, though, as it seems far too unlikely a coincidence.

This blog post is three years old, but it makes a very convincing case that the Master and the War Chief, a character from The War Games portrayed by Edward Brayshaw, are one and the same:

Skimmed it. Will read in entirely tomorrow, as I'm off to bed shortly. From what I skimmed, I must continue my firm stance of "The Master is the War Chief? Were you dropped on your head?"

And before I go, the following gave me some good laughs:
Spoiler

Personally, I couldn't go out my front door for about three weeks after Blink, thanks to the angel statue right by the front door. And I would run from the other door to a position where I could see the statue. Because I'm just one big sally like that.

No classic monsters is what I read on the series 5 section of wikipedia, which was quoted from the new DrWho magazine. He also said the 3 new aliens are Timoreen, Skraskish, and Ha'rik.(He may or may not, have fibbed about classic monsters not returning so there will be no spoilers.)

And yes I think it's cool the the Daleks are grey & black.

A'ha I thought there was something different.

Here's a small handful of pics from today's filming.

And a report from the chap who took the photos:
I can confirm that Matt, Karen and Arthur were there, Filming is taking place inside the Manor House on the ground floor only. Windows are covered, so I can only assume this is being filmed as a night time interior, Nothing much to be seen from the outside I'm afraid.

The Manor has a period setting of around 1645 and the guides all operate in character. However, due to the unqiue circumstances of filming they were allowed to talk to me in their 21st century personas. The Manor is closed, so no access to the gardens (normally free) or to the Manor itself, except at certain times of the day. Today it was from 1.30pm after filming broke for lunch. Even then the ground floor of the Manor is off limits and you'll only be given a tour of the upper floors. The Manor fully re-opens again on Saturday, so lets assume they're there tomorrow as well.

Whilst I was there (Yes, I did pay to get in this time) the tour guides took me to a specially set-up exhibition of artifacts that would normally be on display on the ground floor of the Manor. From this I would conclude that they have re-dressed the set to match time of the Vampires of Venice story.

I'm sure the house will be open tomorrow for limited tours during lunch tomorrow. Though you might want to keep an eye on their webcam and see if it comes on later tonight.

Oh, and Moffat apparently says we should all start saying "Series Fnarg". Leastways according to a chap with the latest DWM (really wish they didn't take so long to get over here, otherwise I'd probably subscribe).

I find it interesting that Matt Smith's first story was part of the third filming block; it's the same method they used to get Peter Davison more accustomed to the role before shooting Castrovalva, except that there, Castrovalva was the fourth story produced, not the third.

Seems like Moffatt is taking his cues from '80s Who; I like it... B)

Open image in new tab (open properties and manually copy if in IE). Then you can zoom.

Also, feel I should point out that chart isn't anything official. Someone just compiled all of the rumors and filming data into one handy chart. And as if that weren't apparent from just a proper read of the chart, at the bottom it clearly says:

Disclaimer: This chart is a best guess based on information provided by the wonderful folks of the Infinite Quest section of Gallifrey Base forum. It is in no way anything approximating the merest hint of the possibility of official information.

And now for my own disclaimer: By no means attempting to be Captain Obvious or an B) or variations thereof. Simply pointing it out now to spare possible future mix-ups.

I like the way they appear to be filming less stuff in the urban settings of the last few years. I didn't like the way the TARDIS always seemed to land in a city (often a not-very-convincing London) and a few villages and countryside settings, as we seem to be getting here, are more than welcome.

If you pause that video I posted at 00:27, it looks like it says Jonny Campbell is directing the Van Gogh episode. And it looks like Tony Slater-Ling will be cinematographer. Assuming I'm reading that blasted thing correctly (poor quality doesn't help).

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Edit:
I dunno if they're promoting it as Series 1 or just refering to it as that from a production standpoint. I guess we'll find out.

Yeah, it's Series 1; although according to Moffat in DWM he sees it as Season 31. It's all rather confusing and tiresome.

Eh, personally I still count them as seasons continuing from the Classic. I just use Series X when talking to other people, cause generally I say things like Season 27 and people are confused.
