Fox ignites Torchwood pilot script
Fox has ordered a pilot script for a US version of BBC science fiction drama Torchwood, to be penned by Doctor Who scribe Russell T Davies.
The pilot script is being ordered from BBC Worldwide Productions, and is one of the first major projects from the company's US-based drama team, headed by former BBC fiction chief Jane Tranter and former BBC Wales head of drama Julie Gardner.
Both were involved in the successful revival of Doctor Who and both relocated to LA last year. Tranter took the role of exec VP of programming and production and Gardner became exec producer, with responsibility for scripted projects.
"BBC Worldwide Productions has written a Torchwood pilot script for Fox," a BBC spokeswoman confirmed to C21. "It's too early to comment on any further details."
The series, which is a spin-off from long-running sci-fi drama Doctor Who, launched in the UK on digital network BBC3 in 2006, transferring to conventional networks BBC2 and then BBC1 as its popularity grew. The show has already aired stateside on BBC America.
And can I just say, I still find the concept of a US Torchwood baffling. US UNIT, fine. But Torchwood is pretty much meant to be exclusively, British, innit? The whole "defending the British Empire" and later restoring the Empire and all that? I dunno. The fact that it's on Fox makes me think it isn't going to go very far, if it even gets to airing.
And some intriguing filming photos.

Interesting find. This clip might interest people... (Warning: NSFW)
Correct. Far from it in fact. I never trust these shows where the winners are voted by the readers of the cheapest listing mags going and the audience is filled with the cast of an 'Asda' ad.Not BAFTAs: National TV Awards- not quite as prestigious!

The Timoreen
The Skraskish
The Ha'rik
The Face Tendril
Can't confirm this myself as to buy it Stateside is kind of pointless (by the time it gets here all the news is old hat), and I've still been unable to track down a digital copy, which is unusual.
Oh and, two titles are pretty much confirmed. According to this, not only is Jonny Campbell is directing episode 10 (as was apparent from the clapboard in the filming video), but episode 3 as well, and the titles are Vampires in Venice and Vincent and the Doctor (3 & 10 respectively). The whole Vampires in Venice thing gives me some pause as to "no classics aside from Daleks". Sure, they could be totally new types of Vampire. After all, there's already been a good number of different kinds over the years. But the trailer makes 'em look like freshly converted Haemovores or humans converted by the Great Vampires.
And that's really all I've got right now.

So apparently in the latest DWM, Moffat is still saying no classic monster are returning, not counting the Daleks. And supposedly he gives these names as monsters which will be appearing in the new series:
The Timoreen
The Skraskish
The Ha'rik
The Face Tendril
This is not true. Face Tendril's real, the rest are made up.

Thanks for that confirmation. Have to say I quite like the names Skraskish and Timoreen, though. Shame they's just a rumour.
More filming.

If this is legit, it looks splendid. Apparently it's based on the original design for Series One.

Minus the fact that there's no color to it and we have no idea what the new console looks like, it seems to line up with what little we've seen of the new interior between the trailer (which is pretty much nothing) and the artwork they had hanging on the police box during filming back in October or November. Looks sweet though Looks like a blend of Eighth's with Nine/Ten's with First's console.
Edit:
Found the video the person made the gif from. Gives a pretty sweet, quick, 3D tour.
Edit again:
Four new filming pictures and an interview with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan:

Life and a rather torturous car journey home from the filming last night meant I have only just uploaded my pictures. Basically the filming was in the garden outside the house,in a mini little garden complete with swing and a small shed. This isn't a feature of the house in question normally. Anyway, little Amy, unknown black woman and the Susan Vidler character all stand outside the house staring wild eyed into the sky. What are they looking at I wonder?
And can I just say now: THIS BE AWESOME FIND.
Toys!
That's all I got.

What if the Stolen Earth regeneration was successful, and TEN regenerated into ELEVEN, I've tried to make it look as realistic as possible, using insert shots of Rose, Donna and Captain Jack..

Bill Nighy is to guest star in an episode of the new series of Doctor Who, Digital Spy can reveal.
The veteran actor will play the curator of a Vincent van Gogh exhibition in the episode, which is penned by Richard Curtis.
A set insider told DS: "It was a real coup to get Bill Nighy in Doctor Who, especially in Richard Curtis's amazing episode. Bill plays a van Gogh expert with some similar fashion choices to The Doctor himself."
The story is set both in the present day and 19th Century France. This Life actor Tony Curran was previously confirmed in the role of van Gogh.
The episode - the tenth in the new series - was filmed on location in Croatia and Cardiff over Christmas.
A BBC spokesperson said: "We do not comment on storyline or character speculation."
Also, thar be auctions. Shame the PotD bus was withdrawn. That would be the greatest personal car ever.

First Smith 'Doctor Who' titles confirmed
The titles and writers of the first three episodes of this year's Doctor Who series have been officially confirmed.
Doctor Who Magazine revealed that the first episode of the Matt Smith era is called 'The Eleventh Hour' and will be penned by new showrunner Steven Moffat.
It will be followed by another Moffat-written script titled 'The Beast Below'.
Mark Gatiss, who appeared as Professor Lazarus in series three episode 'The Lazarus Experiment', has written episode three, 'Victory Of The Daleks'.
Other writers confirmed for Eleventh Doctor's first series include Simon Nye, Chris Chibnall, Gareth Roberts, Toby Whithouse and Richard Curtis.
I'm so glad that The Eleventh Hour is confirmed.

Well it certainly was a mad thing to go to Stonehenge and see the filming, but I can't tell you how amazing it was seeing the Neolithic stones list up in the mist laden night sky. This is going to be such an iconic and epic scene in the finale. I can't wait to see it! We arrived there about 8.30, and there was nothing to see, lights had been placed around the stones, but hadn't been switched on. Over the next hour or so dozens of cars arrived, a coach full of extras and Danny Hargreaves amongst others. Things kicked off around 11pm with Matt, Karen (in that dressing gown again) and River Song all rehearsing a scene in the middle of the stones. Braziers, propane bottles and a smoke machine were also being used. Unfortunately after about 10 minutes the heavens opened. I do wonder why they waited so long to film when it was pitch black my 6pm and not a drop of rain in sight. I do hope they managed to brave the elements, cos the cold was more than enough for us to contend with just watching!
Also, do not know the authenticity of this, buuuuuuuuuuuuut there is a rumor floating about that Episode 12 is called "The Pandorica Opens" and now there's this claim:
Steven Moffatt mensions the Pandorica in his production notes, so there is some truth behind 'The Pandorica Opens' episode.
Again, just how true this claim is I don't know. Maybe there are some production notes in the new DWM or last issue or something. I've no means of checking that. Or maybe the person's just making things up. Either way, thought I'd share.

According to an agency website, Simon Dutton will appear in the new season at some point as a character named "Alistair". Page here. The fact that the Saint is going to be on Doctor Who, even if it's a very very very very minor role, just has me ecstatic. According to IMDB, it'll be episode 4 of the new season.
Posted these names before, but I'll post them again seeing as I've got the list up and have found some changes. Take each of the other names with a rather large grain of salt, as while I don't doubt they could be guesting, there isn't confirmation for each of them yet. Not listing confirmeds like Tony Curran or Gillan's cousin, the rumored guests are...
Annette Crosbie (The Eleventh Hour)
Terrence Hardiman (Episode 2)
Bill Nighy (Van Gogh ep)
Ian McNeice (rumored to be playing Churchill, but I thought reports mentioned someone else, so we'll see what becomes of this)
Helen McCrory (Vampires in Venice)
Sophie Okendo (Episode 2)
Bill Paterson (Churchill episode)
I don't really doubt any of the claims, except maybe McNeice as Churchill, but figure I'll just put a warning on them as they have not, after all, been confirmed by anyone official nor have the episodes aired yet. So there she is I suppose.

I saw some behind the scenes footage of that on the telly yesterday. They didn't really show any more than what's in those pics, though. Just the backlit stones with some smoke billowing through them.Photos from last night's Stonehenge filming.
He's definitely in it. He's playing...Terrence Hardiman (Episode 2)
Same pattern as the Eccleston series.

Yes, I think it's likely to be something of a homage to that one.Anyone else think Victory of the Daleks may well be Matt Smith's The Power of the Daleks?

Smith 'didn't fit Doctor Who profile'
Steven Moffat has admitted that Matt Smith did not fit his "imaginary profile" of Doctor Who.
Recalling Smith's Who audition, the show's executive producer said that he thought the 27-year-old actor was too young for the role.
"He so didn't fit my imaginary profile of where we were going, 'cos I did think we were probably going older," he told Doctor Who Magazine.
"I thought it's mid-30s to mid-40s. I still maintain that's where most of your Doctors will be, in that age group - young enough to run, but old enough to look like they can be King of the Universe."
and
Moffat: 'Matt Smith like a drunk giraffe'
Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat has likened Matt Smith to a "drunk giraffe".
Talking to Doctor Who Magazine, Moffat revealed that the Eleventh Doctor has a habit of breaking things on set.
"He knocks over coffees, falls over, breaks props! When he was first handed the brand new sonic screwdriver on the first day of filming, I turned to Piers [Wenger, executive producer], and I said, 'I'm going to start a book on how long it takes him to break it'
"And, as I was saying it, the prop man was walking past me with the sonic screwdriver in two bits! I thought, 'He's done it already!'. Straight away, he'd broken it!"
He added: "I described him recently as 'walking like a drunk giraffe,' which has caused him some concern. But he does! Actually, that's true of Karen [Gillan] as well. It's hilarious when the two of them have to do shaky floor acting!"
