Truth be told, I'm a little bit burned out going through the new Doctor thing again. It seems like yesterday we had Smith, or even Tennant, debuting. But...roll on Capaldi. I think the other two will always be 'my' Doctors, but he'll be good too.

Except it really wasn't. Tennant debuted in 2005 and Smith in 2010. Both had relatively long tenures compared with some of the other Doctors. I'm ready for a new Doctor and Capaldi is an excellent actor. I think he'll do fine.

Steven Moffatt says that Capaldi's Doctor will be very...Scottish. Excellent.

Seeing some reports that indicate something mildly interesting about the TARDIS crew...

Series 8. Season 8 was made back in 1971.

Yeah, that's mostly a US/UK thing. Series 8, yes.

Obviously there's the UK/US thing, but what I mean is that the classic pre-2005 series of Doctor Who are referred to as seasons, even in the UK, to avoid confusion with the post 2005 stuff. As I said SEASON 8 was broadcast back in 1971, SERIES 8 (or season 34) is due to be broadcast later this year.

So, Moffat's been remarking in interviews that this series is going to be markedly different, and I wonder how different it can really be.

I think he means it will be more like the classic series.

Now that the show is back, how many have seen "Deep Breath?" I enjoyed it as an intro to a new Doctor and though Capaldi was outstanding!

I think Series 8 is bloody fantastic so far. Doctor Who has a habit of having a pretty strong overall story arc and really boring filler episodes. A few have been classics, but most aren't too special. Series 8 however, they've actually made pretty damn enjoyable filler episodes. Every single story of this series has been considerably above average. Better in terms of writing and performance than most of the Eccleston/Tennant/Smith episodes. Obviously each Doctor has their stand out episodes, but it's just surprising to see (If you count Name of The Doctor) 7 episodes of Doctor Who, in a row, that have been incredibly solid.

Doctor Who fans are in a great place at the minute. The 50th Anniversary was knockout, Matt Smith left on a high, and Peter Capaldi is just outstanding. I've always loved Doctor Who, but lately i've been able to sit down with complete faith in the writers to deliver something different every week.

I've been working on this for the past day or so. Happy with how it turned out. Thought I'd hare.

Well done. Capaldi won me over fully with Listen. One of the better episodes of the 2005 relaunch, no doubt.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Scary, funny and thought-provoking... with a dash of Doctor Who history unseen until now! Capaldi is knocking it out of the park so far.

I knew Capaldi would be great. His Doctor is quite different from those of Tennant and Smith. He is more introverted, almost acting like a grumpy old man, but still with that adventurous side to him. Also, Scottish.

Loving his run so far... the best I've heard, from a friend, is that he's a mix of Hartnell and Pertwee - and I agree with that assessment. Pertwee is my favorite Doctor, and Capaldi - to me - is a very Pertwee-esque Doctor.

Loving this series. Capaldi is enormously compelling and Jenna Coleman is knocking every episode out of the park.

Mummy on the Orient Express was terrific. It's neck and neck with Listen as the best of Series 8. One of the best Doctor Who episodes made in the relaunch, too.

I'm having a bit of fun and making my own fan Series 10 with Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. Clara will have left and I have created a new companion, Gaby, played by Ophelia Lovibond. The first episode is called 'Scary' and is sort of to do with the idea of The Boogeyman. Here's the poster:

Finished the fourth episode, 'The Journey of the Nightingale'. The first of a two-parter featuring Fenric.

Finished the fifth episode, 'The Great One'. The second of the two-parter featuring Fenric. This isn't my favourite and not my best work but I thought it was good enough for this particular episode.

Very much enjoying this season so far. Very neat Shirley Bassey reference in the latest episode, too! Anyone else watching?
