Oh it was SO AWESOME!

Spoiler

It seriously has one of the best endings to a Doctor Who episode. I was shaking at the end of it, I had goosebumps. Just WOW!

Wait, what? Where's this?

Also, either there's a typo on IMDB ooooooooorrrrrrrrrrr

3. "Doctor Who" (2005) Time Lord (3 episodes, 2009-2010) 2010

So either Dalton appeared at some point during Waters of Mars, or he's sticking around for Matt Smith's premier, at the very least as brief cameo sort of role, assuming it is not a typo.

Dalton was definitely not in Waters Of Mars. He's be in End Of Time, I'm sure.

Great quote from The Doctor tonight...

"For a long time I thought I was the survivor but I'm not... I'm the winner! The Timelord Victorious!"

According to the webs, Children in Need this year will feature scenes 4 and 5 (the first two scenes after the opening titles) of the first episode of The End of Time, presumably in place of the normal Children in Need specials. Hopefully we're in for a treat.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me!

This will be brilliant. B)

I have a feeling right, that the Doctor is gonna be a right bastard in the The End Of Time. He'll be really horrible to everyone, which is why he'll show up at Donnas house. He'll think everything is over for him, and is, spitefully, putting himself first.

Just look at the way he say's "I'm going to die" in the Next Time trailer I posted above. Something isn't right, he seems so cold.

Good news for us Americans.

Watching Torchwood last night I saw a commercial and apparently we're getting all 3 specials in December. :) Waters of Mars is on Saturday, December 19 and I assume the other two will follow on consecutive Saturdays/Sundays. This is great, as it never really made sense to me why it would take so long to air in the US, as all they would have to do is make extra tapes and ship them to the US.

Here's to getting to see Tennant go at the same time as the Brits do. B)

Yep, but I'm in impatient bugger, so I've just spent a good hour or two looking for a mirror of WoM. Will be nice having the other specials round the same time, though. And word is that the new season w/ Matt Smith will be airing at roughly the same time as the UK. Like, maybe only a month at the latest as opposed to starts airing in March in the UK, starts airing on Scifi in late July. Supposedly, though, BBC America is trying to get broadcasting rights on the new Doctor Who as close to the UK dates as possible. Would be /really/ awesome if they could air them same day. Like, new episode airs 7pm GMT in the UK, then at 7pm EST it airs here in the States or something. Highly unlikely to the point of near impossibility, but how amazing would that be for us fans?

But he already knows he's going to die. He's accepted it. The way he acts at the end of Waters Of Mars makes me question his sanity.

Interesting. Well now that I've finally found the episode I'm off to go watch it. Shall return in due course with my thoughts.

Edit:

Above related to WoM. Fellow US fans would be wise to avoid if they're waiting for December.

My God that episode was brilliant. And that ending!

Two observations, one of which I will spoiler for those who still have yet to see it and one which I shan't,

1. Blue suit. One thing I noticed when rewatching old episodes is blue suit episode tend to involve the more zany, manic Doctor I dislike. Not remotely so with this episode.
2.
Spoiler

Also, there was some interesting speculation over on LTUAC regarding how/why the Doctor becomes #11, what "The Gate" RTD mentioned is, and who's knocking since the producers have said it isn't The Master, even though the Master is returning. I'll look through the rest, but I think the most interesting one, although I think it'll prove to be false, is someone said they think it might be a forced regeneration. Like, the Time Lord played by Dalton or the other chap credited as "Time Lord" will force the Doctor to regenerate into Matt Smith, like how they imposed the Third onto the Second after the events of The War Games.

Doctor Who wiki has got the following image up on their End of Time article up. Can't seem to find it anywhere else, but I did a bare bones search during the commercials, so who knows? Might turn up something later this week. Anywho, the image in question is:

Nothing too special, but interesting tidbit nonetheless. And blasted black backgrounds meshing with the dark lighting. That image is wider/longer.

SPOILER WARNING!!

Or the DOCTOR of THE WATERS OF MARS was The Master...? (!) Okay. Maybe not. But it did cross my mind more than once in MARS. As did the fact that the whole Mars Bowie Base One mission could have been a MASTER construct in order to play with and isolate the DOCTOR - and to tempt him to play with the laws of time which will cause all sorts of havoc. (?)

The DOCTOR has historically been a bit wayward around the threshold of regeneration so we maybe saw glimpses of that. However, I do believe it was the feelings of a frustrated and lonely man who wants to abide by the laws of time (which are part of his DNA) but hates what time does to his life and those around him. He can change time (and, to be fair, does so in most episodes) but - as the case of MARS - as long as the throughline of time (i.e. that the granddaughter becomes a space explorer) is maintained, the DOCTOR has not tampered.

I think the most interesting one, although I think it'll prove to be false, is someone said they think it might be a forced regeneration. Like, the Time Lord played by Dalton or the other chap credited as "Time Lord" will force the Doctor to regenerate into Matt Smith, like how they imposed the Third onto the Second after the events of The War Games.

It will be a tad more 'messy' and final than that. Say no more.

Now I'll be the first to confess I have been ready to see the end of Tennant for some time.

All this self righteous "look at me, I'm suffering for you all" stuff really made me want to vomit at times. Sort of Tony Blair in space, if you like.

But in Waters of Mars he was absolutely superb. Wordly, dominant. A performance of great power. Even I can feel the loss his forthcoming absence will leave now.

Masterful.

The second of the Tennent finale two-parter is being broadcast in 2010 - so maybe that would account for Mr Dalton's credit there. But IMDB is not the last word on much so I wouldn't read anything into that.

Spoiler

is in the last two episodes, then.

That is not Brian Cox's vocals there.

Did anyone else notice (of course those over 40 did...!!?) the mention of The Ice Warriors? Nice, if not very subtle nod to the past... of which the Tennent swansong will no doubt do a lot of...

It's interesting you should say that, the way Tenant seemed to go a little bonkers towards the end I half expected that Doctor would actually be revealed to be The Master, he certainly showed more than a few traits.

I guess as some have already said this is pointing to towards the reason for re-generation, I guess that much power in one beings hands might make them think they are a God and Tenant's Who certainly hinted that is abilites were beginning to cloud is judgement.

A good episode and a considerable up on the previous fun but unimpressive one with Michele Ryan in, Bowie Base One, yeah I liked that little joke!

A fan trailer for the Doctor Who christmas specials this year. Using footage from The Waters Of Mars and End Of Time, I deliberately refrained from making it action oriented, I wanted to capture the Doctors emotion and upcoming death.

Music is the Turn Left Suite from Doctor Who Series 4.

That's pretty great Mharkin B)

Edit:

News time!

This has been touted about for a few days, but now from the BBC , I think we can call it more then rumour...

The BBC is in talks with the fantasy author Michael Moorcock to write a Doctor Who novel, it has confirmed, he said on his website that the Doctor Who book would appear in 2010.

I'll be doing a new Doctor Who novel (not a tie-in) for appearance, I understand, by next Christmas, said Moorcock.

A BBC Worldwide spokesman said that nothing had yet been signed.

The 69-year-old author is known for his regular collaborations over several decades with the rock band Hawkwind, his own musical project The Deep Fix, as well as the Elric of Melnibone novels!

Also folks, it's just 3 days, 22 hours, 41 minutes, and 51 seconds until the Children in Need clip.

Just a bit more news this evening. An audio clip from the scenes of the Christmas episode which will air on Children in Need Friday. Secondly, well, this just amused me is all, really. More news may follow pending how the evening pans out. I have a sense it's going to be a bit slow until Children in Need, though.

Hey Mharkin, as it's probably gonna be a short one, are going to put up the Children In Need clip??
You know Australia and most likely other countries have been blocked from watching clips from the official BBC website?
I know, totally blows!

Is David Tennant filming a movie in Southern California or something? I have seen him twice in person, during the last month. First I saw him in one of the eating areas at Universal Studios. A week later, I saw him at an Italian restaurant at the Grove, a shopping center located next door to Farmer's Market in Los Angeles.

'Doctor Who' Xmas special title revealed

The Doctor Who Christmas special is called 'The End of Time, Part One', it has been confirmed.

The title marks the first time this naming convention has been used since the show returned in 2005. Previous two-part stories have had their own names.

The second instalment - the final episode to feature David Tennant as the Doctor - is expected to be broadcast on New Year's Eve.

A preview of 'The End of Time, Part One' will be shown during Children In Need this Friday on BBC One.

According to the webs Trinian's and his other film projects are all being shot in the UK. Who knows?

And I suppose that "The End of Time, Part One" is still technically six words. Was kind of hoping for something more epic-sounding, but hey, it works.
