I also don't like Sam Smith. I don't think he's got vocal length to escape his type of music...a kind of sob one.

Thinking about Adele and other musicians that have more solid background and can "kick it off" today I thought of this:

You can see Jamie has some energy which could be used in the right direction. With Sam Smith people will be guessing if it's a guy or a girl singing...

I just threw together a concept video for my title theme pick. The song is called "The Embrace" by AFI (A Fire Inside).

How about Adele singing:-

Let the SPECTRE,

When it crumbles,

We still stand tall,

Face it all together at SPECTRE....

I think saw someone mention Ellie Goulding here. I think she'd be a great choice.

Looking at artists signed with Sony Music, here are my picks:

Daft Punk

Suede (would love this)

Labrinth

S***, that's it.

I've heard someone suggest CeeLo Green. He's not with Sony, but damn he can sing.

Yes! +1 on Cee Lo for sure.

His album The Lady Killers was great and it even had a gunbarrel! (Track 1, The Lady Killer Theme)

Given the controversy that surrounded Cee Lo this past summer, I can't see EON going in that direction.

Damn! Bangin production and orchestral arrangement. Off to iTunes now...

Yep, a real shame. Just like controversy robbed us of Amy Winehouse, and instead we got cat strangling meets garage rock.

It is a shame that he had to express his rather disgusting viewpoints, as that will now (and rightfully so, IMO) overshadow his musical talent.  Prior to the summer, I would have been on board for CeeLo doing a Bond theme.  "Bright Lights, Bigger City" is a pretty good song that could have been a good template for a Bond title track, with its cool, somewhat retro Genesis-inspired sound.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but what about Idina Menzel? With her success from Frozen, her starpower is similar to Adele's before Skyfall's release. Personally, I think she'd do a great job.

i think theres been a bit too much smoke around sam smith and apparently sony have something to do with him (publishing i think) so I'd say it will probably happen given everything else has proven true

If they've already nailed down the artist for SPECTRE, that leads me to believe it's going to be Adele again.

I would love for it to be Natalie Imbruglia but I'm not counting on it.

I know she did an Austin Powers but I think Beyonce would be good.  I would also like Lady Gaga, Natalia Kills, or Rihanna because I like pop music.  I just don't need a guest cameo sword fight to come with it.

Sia might be good too.

Or we could always get that Spice Girls reunion that we've all been clamoring for. B)

I still hope for Adele.

Sam Smith is just TOO obvious, pretty much a lesser man's Adele, who is a man. Same style, same range...but just lacking that power. He would give us something mediocre that Adele could give us breath-taking to continue the "theme" from 'Skyfall'.

I would love for it to be Natalie Imbruglia but I'm not counting on it.

Her debut album was kind of fun and she surprised me with her turn in Johnny English but she was sort of a "one hit wonder". She has a good voice though.

We need either a classic (Dame Shirley would be welcome) or a hard edge like those mentioned above. Chris Cornell really blew me away with "You Know My Name". He wasn't what I expected, but did knock it out IMO. Some sort of "power ballad" with a male voice would be good to my thinking. I'm no musician, but I know what I like. Then again, something as contemporary musically as the OHMSS theme would be very cool. Barry really nailed it with that music at that time. One of the best of the soundtracks.

On the message board of filmscoremonthly.com someone claims that Ben Whishaw has said during a recent interview that the title song for SPECTRE has already been done.

I would love that - because now they can incorporate the melody into the score.

Will it be Adele again?

An instrumental theme like OHMSS would be really interesting, but i doubt Eon would go for that.

My ideal pick would be David Bowie.

But the rumors (which have generally been on track so far) indicate that it's either Sam Smith or Adele again. I don't particularly care for either of those options, but we'll see.
