"Spectre" seems like a difficult word to use as a main lyric/chorus for a title song. My guess is that it will used somewhere in the lyrics of the chorus ("...like a spectre in the night", etc). Or, maybe the song will be titled "Ghost" something, like:
With apologies to all Sam Smith fans - I really hope he is not the singer. His falsetto just does not fit into my idea of Bond songs.
Goulding - well, yeah, I´d accept that.
He wouldn't be a good choice for Bond. Honestly, I don't understand what the obsession with him is. At best, I'd say he's a rather average talent.
Not much of a fan of Goulding either. Either way they go, the title song will most likely be a dreary and rather unexciting ballad because that seems to be what is in the wheelhouse of Smith and Goulding.
After the massive letdown that the title songs have been since GoldenEye, I guess it's probably best to just accept that were most likely never going to get a great Bond song ever again.
Well, if Roger Friedman considers this to be happening...
Oh right.. he's the guy who was spot on about Adele for Skyfall, right? If that's the case than there may be more credibility to this source than I thought. I just hope the song is titled something other than "Spy"..it could be she only registered that as a decoy name with BMI and hopefully the actual title is "SPECTRE" or something to that effect..
Roger Friedman is not saying that his sources are saying it's Ellie Goulding, just that he has noticed that she has an unrealised track called "Spy" which could be it.
On the other hand, his sources are saying “The choice is so random and out of left field, you wouldn’t believe it.”
I suspect they will tell him soon and his sources have proven reliable in the past. Perhaps they are hinting at Radiohead, who knows?
Good point Shrublands..And also looking at the post again, it mentions that Goulding just put a pic on Instagram the other day of her coming out of Abbey Road saying "That's a wrap!", whereas Sam Mendes confirmed that the song had been recorded a while ago..another reason to be suspicious..
Radiohead would be a completely out of left field choice, I agree. I'm not a fan of them by any means (but neither was I of Chris Cornell until YKMN or Adele until Skyfall) so I'd be willing to give them a chance for a Bond theme...they could sway me..

Been asking myself for a while how long it'll take until someone else notices...
With the bet having been made (if that story is indeed true), plus their spokesman giving a 'no comment', Radiohead do seem to do be the most probable Bond artist. I remember the identities of both of the most recent Dr Whos were revealed in the same way: insiders putting bets on (in Matt Smith's case there was a sudden flurry of bets on him in his home town: somewhat suspicious!).
They're a fascinating choice; not one I would have expected but certainly one which should produce something surprising. Jonny Greenwood is a film scorer himself of course, so it could well be something they'd be interested in doing, albeit a little mainstream for their recent output. Although they did famously cover 'Nobody Does It Better' so who knows!
They feel more likely (bizarrely!) than Elle Goulding, who's just a little bit lightweight. Adele made sense in a way she doesn't.
