The close up of the X-Wing pilot (I'm assuming it's Oscar Isaac) in the cockpit is practical. The shot of the X-Wings flying however is CGI. It looks pretty obvious. Other than that, It pretty much matched the trailer description I read on another forum, and for a teaser it really does a good job. It shows us some of the new characters as well as small glimpse of the villain. I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, as I find myself more of a Trek guy, but so far I'm impressed. Thankfully there isn't the usual Abrams lens flare involved (as far as I know), but for a teaser, it was very well done. It's bound to get some great reactions in theaters that's for sure.
Now before this comes up for discussion, I'd like to point out the lightsaber. Everyone I know has been trashing it's look, but I quite like it. It's got this old fashioned, evil look to it, with the medieval claymore design. However. That hand guard is not a small lightsaber. At least I believe it isn't, unless the main villain intends of accidentally hurting himself haha. What I'd like to point out is that if you actually watch that point in the trailer again, you'll see how the overall lightsaber blade comes out and stays completely solid, whereas the other two sort of eject and fluctuate. Almost like exhaust. Those two side ports are basically functioning like vector nozzle, like on a fighter jet. It's excess energy from inside being ejected to prevent instability.
Now the voice...is it just me, or did that sound like Cumberbatch?
I´m pretty sure it´s Adam Driver.
I wouldn't be surprised, though the voice is what is tricky. Either he changed his voice to sound like that or it's post-production audio trickery. Maybe it's Andy Serkis. Who knows. I'm very intrigued by this villain. This villain certainly has the same or close to the same height and shape that Driver has has, so maybe it is him. Someone told me they think it's Luke but I just don't see it.
Why no Episode VII in the title?
There really hasn't been explanation to this from Abrams or Disney. I guess the opening titles will have "EPISODE VII" in there, but I guess it's just too much to put in the overall title as a whole. I think it's the smart way to go, keeps the roman numeral continuity going. They're going to have to do something because I'm sure the spin off films are going to have "STAR WARS" and a subtitle, and that could possible confuse people into thinking it's Episode VIII since Episode VII isn't in the trailer and such.
pretty sure X-Wings aren't real
The cockpit camera shot is. The rest is CGI, unless they managed to get three full replicas in front of a green screen on a backlot lol.
