So I just watched the trailer again and noticed what could have been a lightsaber strapped to Daisy Ridley's speeder-like vehicle when she first gets on it... thoughts?

You mean this? I know in the Expanded universe that there's long, very long handle lightsabers, but I don't think this is one.

That's it. I've been chatting with some friends who feel that this could be a crudely made long handle saber - perhaps she's force-sensitive, but not officially a Jedi.

Or it's just a pole that somehow disappears in the next shot haha.

No seriously, if you watch the trailer, right when the shot kicks in of her riding off it literally disappears.

Or worse, a continuity error.

J.J. will probably go over it with some lens flares in post production.

It could be anything I guess if her character is a salvager - who knows what she could have constructed or amassed.

Don't mess with Colbert. Tolkien and now Star Wars - when he replaces Dave Letterman next year, I'll start watching Late Show again.

Yes Colbert made a hilarious point with the overreaction of the SW fans with the light-sabre. J.J Abrams is a genius for showing it the trailer just give it some reaction and interest. It's supposed to be this way. I only cared when the Millenium Falcon first arrived on-screen and the John Williams score that I got very excited. I'm hopeful that Harrison Ford is still manning the craft and not some second-tier newbie.

Nooo that wasn't R2. The dome was far too small, and a different colour, to be R2.

Just another Tatooine junk droid I reckon, or one belonging to one of our characters.  :)

Ewan McGregor is back as Obi-Wan Kenobi as the spin-off starts filming in Tunisia:

'Star Wars: The Obi Years'

Charting Obi-Wan's journey from one-time powerful Jedi Master and his steady downfall to lonely hermit on Tatooine...

THIS I can get behind! Ewan was the best part of the prequels, the perfect embodiment of a young Alec Guinness. Here's hoping Liam Neeson returns as Qui-Gon in Force ghost form!

Although, tcr, I'm pretty sure this is him as Jesus in "Last Days in the Desert"

Just couldn't resist as it was my initial thought seeing the pic, I was like....Jesus? It's Obi-Wan on Tatooine!

I think this is a big ball of FAKE.

How convenient that the selected character names we get are with shots ripped EXACTLY from the teaser. So where's the rest of these cards then?

And surnames are present with our X-Wing pilot and Sith - but not our speeder girl or stormtrooper? Please - if she is, as rumoured, a Solo child, Disney/Lucasfilm wouldn't hold back naming her fully as we have with our other two characters.

Trading cards never just name people "Luke drives a speeder" or "Han saves the day" - it's full names or nothing.

This is so dubious and, IMO, obviously fake.

tcr, I'd feel the same way... EXCEPT there was a link on the official STAR WARS facebook page as well as starwars.com. Pretty sure it was all JJ's idea.

I'm really hoping JJ does not decide to use the same misleading tactics that he used on "Into Darkness". If I recall correctly, he actually did show some regret about deciding to put out all the false info on that film, Hopefully he learned his lesson...

Entertainment Weekly as well as several media outlets are reporting the same, so I think it's safe to say that it's very much real.
