Cavill's going to have to bring his A-game to the table for this sequel, as I'd say that he's already at somewhat of a disadvantage because Affleck's a stronger actor than he is.  Hopefully he, like everyone else involved with Man of Steel, learns from what didn't work in that film and correct it for Batman v Superman

The one thing that I do know is that Affleck will be extremely motivated to pull this off, given how poorly Daredevil turned out all those years ago.  And, as much as I doubted him when they signed him on, I think he's going to pull it off.  The whole older, experienced, brooding Batman that they're going for should fit perfectly into what should be Affleck's approach to the role, as he should have a chip on his shoulder with regards to the whole superhero thing following Daredevil.

I think Ben Affleck will play batman well just like Chris Evan did with Captain America when he previously played the human Torch.....hopefully the same success will be with Ben......since both Chris and ben first film as superhero was bad compare to their second time which Chris has been quite successful

Can't complain at all.

Probably looks even MORE like he's ripped from the comic books than any other interpretation actually. Really love the emotion and tone from just that headshot. Brilliant.

Looks like we're going to get another real Dark Knight.

Some people will complain because it more catman than batman because of the short ears.......if people do read the comic it is inspired by The Dark Knight Return by Frank Miller

What about this news from Marvel - a radical shakeup or what!

http://www.theguardi...omicbook-series

I wonder what this will spell for future incarnations in film too...

Told a friend of mine about this.  His response:  "Thor's now a Disney princess."

I'll admit I was never on board with this film, but that new still of Affleck as Batman just gives me chills. It's literally Frank Miller's Batman, brought to life, and whether or not Affleck can pull off the acting, he sure as hell pulled off the look. I'm curious to see more pictures in the coming months/year regarding Afflecks Batman.

I'm still not sold on seeing the film, mainly in part of Man Of Steel being so damn weak, but If there is any way I'll see this film, it will be because of Affleck as Batman, which is absolutely crazy, because I hated the casting of him in the role, but I have found myself strangely warming up to it.

I truly fail to understand the disdain for MOS.  I thought it was a much needed shot in the arm for Superman...and done well.

A thing of beauty. So good to see another female hero in mainstream cinema along with the big boys!

I love the look of Wonder Woman that they are going with. I mean she looks really bad ass and someone to not reckon with. She isn't showing too much skin which helps her to be taken seriously. I love the look.

It's gonna be really interesting seeing how they introduce her to the movies and to appear alongside Batman and Superman.

I mean, with over nearly 40 years since we saw the movie origins explained for Superman and also Batman, they are well in with movie audiences how they came to be, but Wonder Woman? I myself have a vague idea of who she is, due to Wikipedia, but they will have a job and a half to get her origins and explanations as to why she is as important to the team as Superman or Batman will be in the space of one movie.

A very brave, but probably risky, move!

Of wonder woman? Weren't you the one who hated Man of Steel? I thought you would be pretty opposed to the film?

I did absolutely hate Man Of Steel, and I was beginning to oppose this film, but after seeing Gadot as Wonder Woman, who looks FANTASTIC, and seeing the SDCC teaser for the film, I'm actually quite excited. Strange I know, but being that I've read Millers graphic novel, of which this film takes partial inspiration from, I've begun realizing that this is a once in a lifetime ordeal. I like Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Affleck's transformation as Batman as my attention loud and clear, though I'm not convinced by Cavill as Supes, with someone else taking over screenwriting duties, this could potentially be good and not the disaster I initially though it would be.

Doesn't mean I'm going to go back praise Man Of Steel, I still think that film sucks royally.

It's a risky move for sure, and one that they could, and should, have avoided by simply giving Wonder Woman her own film before this rather short-sighted attempt to get Justice League off the ground quicker than they should.   Wonder Woman is most likely going to be an afterthought here, as the main attractions here are Superman and the arrival of Ben Affleck's Batman.

The only thing that has me remotely interested in this film is Ben Affleck.  I think he'll be great as Batman, and I'm really looking forward to his third go-round as the character, which is the tentatively titled The Batman set to arrive in 2019, hopefully with Affleck pulling double duty as director as well.  Aside from Affleck, the rest of this looks decidedly subpar, which is not surprising since it's the same creative team behind Man of Steel.

'The Batman' does sound a great title...very epic with 'THE'. I like it.

I never thought I'd be more satisfied with Ben Affleck being involved as he is now, really exciting.

Okay that's fair. I mean the more I watch Man of Steel, the more of the flaws I see in it being a superman film but I still enjoy it. I am also very excited for Gal Gadot to be Wonder Woman. Suck it to those people who hated on her casting thinking she was "too skinny". This is why you don't judge the people who are cast in the roles because I think Wonder Woman has a lot of potential. Also I never really hated Ben Affleck's casting. I mean I do think it was definitely interesting considering I never really thought of him to be Batman but I think with everything that has come out, I do believe he will make a great Batman.

DC has budged. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has moved from its May 6, 2016 release date and will now open on March 25, 2016. (Yes, March!) It now opens unopposed instead of in a direct showdown with Marvel Studios and Captain America 3.

The Wrap first posted about the release date change. This is the second time the film, directed by Zack Snyder, has moved its release. Originally it was going to come out in the Summer of 2015, but then moved to May 6, 2016 when major script rewrites opened up the Warner Bros. DC Universe.

At that time, Marvel already had a film scheduled for that date but it was untitled. Wewere one of the first sites to ask the Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about the Marvel vs. DC showdown and he said Marvel would not budge. They then revealed that Captain America 3 would open on that May 2016 date. Warner Bros. didn’t flinch, however, also declaring they wouldn’t move.

You can read much, much more about this Hollywood game of release date chickenhereherehere and here.

But now the change has finally happened, and it’s pretty significant. Batman v Superman is potentially one of the most highly anticipated films ever. It’s the first time two of the biggest names in comic books will be on screen together. That’s a tailor-made Summer event movie. The move to March shows that Warner Bros. believes the film has just as much potential in March than summer. And guess what? They’re right.

This year, Marvel Studios/Disney took advantage of this early Summer strategy withCaptain America: The Winter Soldier, opening it on basically the same weekend Batman v Superman will come out 2 years later. Cap had a massive $95 million opening, one of the year’s biggest, proving audiences will show up for a big movie even if it’s not the summer. Plus, the competition for that kind of mega blockbuster is non-existent in March and April. This will give Snyder’s film a full month to shine at the box office beforeCaptain America returns.

Are you surprised DC budged on this release date showdown? Do you think this shows weakness or foresight?

I think this might be smart. This is because Dawn of Justice/Justice League/DC hasn't really established themselves as a movie franchise yet and I think that they would not win this competition in the Captain America sequel.

Just saw Guardians Of The Galaxy. Have to say it is easily Marvel's second best film in their Cinematic Universe and best since the first Iron Man film. It's far from being epic like Iron Man, but it was pretty enjoyable and lots of fun. Reviews are posted in the respective film threads.

It would beat Captain America 3 at the box office just based on having Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in the film. It may not be established, but those three characters alone, plus the great feedback it got at SDCC, it would beat Cap at the box office, not by a long shot, but it would certainly do damn well.

I am not saying that it can't I am just saying it's easier for someone to go and see Captain America 3 because Captain America and the films are well respected versus Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman aren't established yet (and I mean Affleck and Gadot as their characters).

I think DC will beat Marvel with the 'BvS' v 'CA3' battle.

The appeal of seeing Superman and Batman...AND Wonder Woman (who is an extra bonus for others not aware of her against the 2 super-hero gods) will be too great to keep fans away. There will be huge interest into Affleck, much like the buzz about a new James Bond...heck, anyone remember that day Daniel Craig was announced and the months of hate that followed?

If Affleck nails it, which I believe he will, it will have the same effect as that which graced 'Casino Royale'. Fresh blood to a well established character, characters meeting on film for the first time AND the promise of something special taking place after so many years of wanting it to!

That's my little opinion anyway! :)
