I don't like any of the Avengers.
That being said, just got back from seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and I strangely liked it... The first half that is. I really liked it more than I was expecting to, until the last half turned into a Michael Bay extravaganza. Definitely Marvel's best since the first Iron Man back in 2008, but it doesn't come close to that film's epicness.
I can see why everyone would give it such high praise and just fall in love with it, but It slightly fell apart for me. None the less, still enjoyable to an extent. Not seeing Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but I do have interest in Captain America 3, especially since I firmly believe that Frank Grillo will return as the villain, Crossbones.

Thanks for the heads up tdalton.
If I said I wasn't excited...I would be lying!
Can't WAIT for the DC heroes to get some good cinematic outings, but I hope they aren't seen as just competing against Marvel.
We know they are, BUT they are equally allowed to bring some of their finest characters to the screen a little later in the running. Brilliant news.

I hope this will take the pressure off "Batman vs. Superman", being a kind of Justice League-movie. Of course, they will try to set things up in that - but more than a few cameos by those other heroes will probably not be necessary.

Not really excited about this. Of course, I was not a big fan of Man of Steel. I'd like to see a JLA movie, but it seems more like it's being rushed than carefully planned. Also, the news about there not being a Wonder Woman movie is odd. It's like Marvel continually denying Black Widow her own movie. Not all movies have to be headlined by white men for *bleeps* sake.

Well as long as DC learn their mistake with the 'Catwoman' spin-off film. Jesus.
I'm all for leads of all sexes and race having a spin-off film, but it seems their selection is a very particular process. Ah well.

I don´t know whether one can call this attempt "rushed". They are trying to do it for ages. And the next "Superman" film is out in 2016. If the rumors are true and the "Justice League"-film is done back-to-back and released in 2017 there is plenty of time to second-guess everything.

I agree with you with the whole Wonder Woman concept. There have been so many people who have tried to do a Wonder Woman movie but it never got off the ground. I believe Joss Whedon wanted to do a Wonder Woman movie and maybe J.J. Abrams? I think Wonder Woman is such an iconic character that she deserves a chance at being brought to the big screen in her own movie.

I do get the idea from the article that the studio is trying to get a Wonder Woman film off the ground. It seems to be the script that is the problem, as they say that they haven't gotten the right script for the project. Now that they're trying to build up the DC characters on the big screen into some kind of interlocking universe, I'm sure we'll see a Wonder Woman movie at some point in the next few years, as I would think that she's probably the third most popular character amongst the Justice League just behind Batman and Superman. But, I'd rather that they do the film well than just rush it out just to have the film out.

So I finally saw Thor: The Dark World. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but it still is hard for me to connect with the character and his world. An improvement over the first film, but not by much.
Ranking The Marvel Cinematic Universe:
1.) Iron Man - 5/5
2.) Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 3/5
3.) The Incredible Hulk - 2.5/5
4.) Thor: The Dark World - 2.5/5
5.) Thor - 2/5
6.) Captain America: The First Avenger - 1.5/5
7.) Iron Man 2 - 1/5
8.) The Avengers - 1/5
9.) Iron Man 3 - 0/5

For me I didn't really enjoy Thor the Dark world as much as I would have liked. I don't really know why. The Thor movies are okay.. but they are definitely not my favorite when it comes to the superhero movies. I would definitely agree with some of your rankings as in Iron Man 3 is definitely really weak. Same with Iron Man 3.

Thor is a great character on paper, but on film, he is definitely the weakest Avenger. I'd say that now, the strongest is Captain America. Iron Man is just the same thing, no further development went with the character after the first film. A lot has changed with Cap.
l will probably catch Cap2 again and I am certain my rating will get bumped up as well.

I've seen Captain America The Winter Soldier three times now--in 3D, 2D, and Imax 3D. They took the dullest avenger and made him one of the most interesting. I imagine his plight is not unlike our troops today. He's a super soldier but has reservations about the organization he serves and what to fight for. Marvel took a very ethical black and white type character and thrust him into a world of dark grey. Drones, NSA spying, the surveillance society we inhabit, all touched on in a fun superhero movie. Marvel took their whole Phase 1-2 Universe and not just turned it on its head, but shattered it. And I would have just been happy to watch Scarlett Johansen.
With Thor left on Earth, Tony Stark without his Iron Man Suits, no SHIELD, and Bruce Banner's whereabouts unknown, the stage is set for Avengers 2 and yet Marvel will first introduce a new cast of characters with Guardians of the Galaxy. Looking forward to it.

Definitely agree!! I feel like Loki makes the Thor movies. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman really don't have the chemistry. I really didn't like the plot with Thor the Dark World.. I mean that red stuff? Iron Man is by far the best of all three.. Iron Man 2 was bad and I really thought Iron Man 3 was going to be better but it definitely was not. Captain America is definitely great because he is evolving (as you said) but the films are really fun to me. I especially enjoyed the humor with Captain America pulling out his journal of things that he missed when he was asleep including Star Wars/Star Trek and Nirvana. That was pretty funny to me.
The superhero movies that I love: Avengers, Captain America: First Avenger, Captain America Winter Soldier, Iron Man
Superhero movies that are fun, but not my favorite: Amazing Spiderman, Thor, Thor the Dark World,
Superhero movies that are bad: Green Lantern, Daredevil, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3.
^ I am missing a lot of superhero movies but I just didn't feel like sorting all of my superhero movies that I have ever watched into those three categories.

Would be cool but I think they would go for someone more muscular. Like the guy from Smallville.

Of course though, the idiocy is that Tony Stark destroyed his suits himself, rather than something happening to them, which would have been for more menacing and interesting.

I'm all for it. However, I'm not looking forward to the Jake Gyllenhaal/Michael Bay sequel.
In other news, review scores for The Amazing Spiderman 2 continue to fall. It appears that our worst fears have been confirmed: The Amazing Spiderman 2 is another Spiderman 3. It really makes me wish Sony would've just brought back Raimi and Maguire for a proper Spiderman 4. Even with the speed bump that was Spidey 3, I think if Sony weren't to have forced Raimi to include a character he didn't want to, he could craft a far better film. As it stands, Sony appears to be more interested in setting up it's next 3 films than actually focusing on this one. I'll probably be passing on this one.

I can't say that I'm entirely surprised. The next good Spiderman film that the studio produces will be their first, as we've now been about a decade and a half without anything that rises above the level of mediocrity. It's sad, as Spiderman should be one of the better cinematic superheroes, but it's just been one mediocre or bad film after another for quite some time now.

Amazing Spiderman 2 B/B-
I saw the Amazing Spiderman 2 today. My verdict: WAY TOO MUCH STUFF. However, the movie itself I thought was well made. I don't like that they included so much. Electro, Green Goblin and Rhino were the main villains. I loved the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. They are great on screen together. That's definitely one plus about this movie. I also liked the humor in this movie. I think it really makes the movie light and less dark. I like superhero movies that aren't dark. It's nice to be able to laugh and have a good time watching a superhero movie. What I am not sure about.. Dane DeHane. I am not saying he is a bad actor but I am not sure that I liked him as the Green Goblin. He seems very preppy boy to me. I mean James Franco was preppy too, but I really liked how Franco portrayed the Green Goblin better than DeHane. Although he really wasn't all that bad.
All in all I think that everyone should go see it, it's not as bad as everyone is saying and it's no way nearly as bad as Spiderman 3 was.
Don't let that sway you from not going and seeing this movie.

The Avengers was just terrible. For all of the discussion about how great the chemistry was between the members of the team, I don't really see it. From what I remember of the film, the "chemistry" that existed amongst the characters really just boiled down to a lot of bickering and in-fighting amongst the Avengers. On top of that, the entire thing was just insufferably dull.
Well I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
Go to the what movie have you watched today thread. We've been discussing it there. That said, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now my second favorite Marvel movie after Iron Man. I just wish The Winter Soldier was in it more. Anyway, with CA2 and Thor 2, here are my current standings for Marvel movies:
Interesting. No discussion on Captain America: The Winters Soldier? I saw it last week and thought that with a few small changes, it easily could have been a Bond or Jason Bourne film. I wonder what EON is doing to meet this kind of challenge?
1. Iron Man
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3. The Avengers
4. Captain America: The First Avenger
5. Iron Man 2
6. Thor
7. The Incredible Hulk
8. Thor: The Dark World
9. Iron Man 3
Interesting list, though I'm surprised Iron Man 3 is at the bottom. Here's my ranking of Marvel's output:
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Iron Man 3
Iron Man
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
The Incredible Hulk
Thor
Thor: The Dark World
Iron Man 2
As far as I'm concerned, Iron Man 2 is an absolute train wreck of a movie, and a colossal missed opportunity to use Mickey Rourke effectively. Thankfully, I don't see us getting anything remotely that inept in the near future. Really looking forward to Captain America 3.
Iron Man 2 was a train wreck that I do agree with. I also say that Iron Man 3 is better than Iron Man 2 but I can't believe that it's ranked as high on your list! I mean Iron Man 3 just slaughtered the Mandarin in my opinion..
Well I don't know anything about the comics so it didn't really come across as sacrilege, just clever. I just think the script for IM3 is blisteringly funny and the action really focused and intense. The fact that people take the bit with the Mandarin so seriously is surprising to me. And if you haven't watched the One-Shot All Hail the King, you should.
