I'm not really on board with the Fantastic Four reboot. The originals were piss poor and if the last few years have taught us anything, it's that this overabundance of super hero films is starting to take it's toll. As for ASM2, apparently the whole reason Shailene Woodley's scenes got cut is because Marc Webb felt it was more important to include 76 different villains. I think I may have reached the end of my patience with superhero movies.

Slow down, my friend.  Wait for the second Spider-Man (and the F4 reboot) before you pass judgment.  What if you happen to like those films?

Then I will happily (actually reluctantly) admit I was wrong. Having said that, I was not a fan of ASM1 and do not have high hopes for number 2. It's just that with maybe the exception of The Avengers, superhero movies have really gone downhill the last few years (The Dark Knight Rises, Green Lantern, Iron Man 3, Thor/Thor 2, Man of Steel). They peaked, in my opinion, with Iron Man 1 and The Dark Knight. Every film since, has just been trying to emulate them. On top of that, look at the oversaturation of films we have coming just in the next 2 years: Batman vs. Superman, Captain America 2, Amazing Spiderman 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers 2, Wonder Woman, Ant-Man, X-Men, probably 6 more Wolverine movies, Flash, that rumored JLA movie, I mean give us some room to breathe please.

Interesting - for me it was just the opposite.  I was hypercritical of superhero films before and re-discovered their pleasures recently, starting with IRON MAN 3 which I surprisingly loved.

But I can even find nice things to say about GREEN LANTERN - so that´s probably the point where you stop reading my posts ;-)

X-Men is my favorite thus far. I wish they didn't reboot Hulk 2003 and don't think they need to reboot the Green Lantern but seems like they will be. I didn't like the Avengers but liked Captain America and Thor. Also surprisingly liked Thor The Dark World. Hope they do another 2 Robert Downing Jr Iron Man films, I also could would have been fine with another 2 Nolan Batman films.

Anne Hathaway's far superior Selina Kyle (as opposed to Michelle Pfieffer's) notwithstanding, The Dark Knight Rises killed my interest in the Nolan films.

I think part of the reason I enjoyed TAS is that it is appealing to my generation. The way the movies are made, they're appealing to the younger generation. I love Emma Stone a lot and I think she is perfectly cast. I hate how Spiderman isn't going to Marvel because Sony acted on this movie, but I still will see it in theaters.

The Fantastic Four ensemble reboot.. I am not sure how I feel about it but honestly, I am a superhero movie junkie and just a superhero junkie in general. I will end up seeing this knowing me.

No problem, we all have our own opinions. I guess I just prefer Toby Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Sam Raimi. That said, I do love Emma Stone and thought she was brilliant as Gwen Stacy. Andrew Garfield was great too. I've always said that TAS had a great cast. That wasn't the problem with the film. It felt too much like the Nolan Batman films. Just too dark for Spiderman. I was really psyched for it as I thought the trailers made it look awesome. I just thought, in the end, it was overly long and boring. My enthusiasm for number 2 has dropped with everyone detail I learn about it. Too many villains, too may story threads, no more Shailene Woodley. I was interested to see how they would handle Electro, but at this point, I think they may have lost their way with the film.....That is, unless I'm wrong and TAS2 turns out to be awesome. I just don't have high hopes.

Has anyone seen the latest Marvel One Shot "All Hail the King."?  It's on the Thor The Dark World bluray.

It would seem Marvel has cracked the door open for a Mandarin appearance in a future movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Exactly, I created this thread so people could express their own opinions about superhero movies. I do agree with you on the villains. I think that it seems like they are going to force feed us so many villains. I think we shouldn't be repeating Spiderman 3 again. I also was looking forward to Shailene Woodley but I guess it's good that Divergent is in theaters this month! :)

I honestly don't think Marc Webb has any idea what he's doing at this point.

Iceskater, I am looking forward to Divergent. Despite the overabundance of YA adapatations, I think Divergent has potential and I really like the cast of the film.

He makes total sense to me.  Obviously, this film is supposed to set up the sinister 6.  So they somehow have to appear in the film.  But all the talk about "too many villains like in Spider-man 3" has prompted him to clear it up: the main villain is Electro.  And Rhino and others will only be introduced along the way.

Personally, I always thought: why do superheroes only get to fight one villain per film?  Do the other villains wait and say: hey, I want the be the main villain as well, so I let this play out and wait for my turn?

This film will have Spider-Man deal with the onslaught of many problems and villains, I suppose.  Which has to be too much for him - so he cannot save everyone...

Nice poster.  And who, right now, takes the lead because he/she is the most bankable...

And I like the trailer, too.

Meh. No interest for the Spider-Man films - I tried the Raimi trilogy and didn't get into them, and last year I tried the Webb offering and just found it playing like a big video game.

I WAS excited to see a villain like Electro and Rhino being offered in 'TAS2' but after the trailer for that, another video game, my interest fizzled our again.

It's a shame but I just don't think my relationship with Spider-Man is going to work!

I think we will be emotionally uncoupled.

Mystique is a somewhat interesting character, but not interestingly enough to warrant her own stand alone film.

Agreed with you on that one. I think they are rather just capitalizing on Jennifer Lawrence's popularity. I've never really been a fan of hers myself.
