And that's exactly the problem I have with it. The character isn't even remotely big enough to warrant a film or even a franchise of its own stature. Frankly, I don't think she is that great of an actress either.

She's one of the reasons I shut off Silver Linings Playbook and one of many reasons why I didn't like American Hustle, then again that film was riddled with problems from start to finish.
For me, there's a sense of her trying a little too hard and that forces her acting and it doesn't come off as natural.

I really must be in the minority around here. I absolutely love Jennifer Lawrence. I couldn't stand Silver Linings Playbook and yet I still liked her. But alas, as they say in Spain, "para gustos estan los colores."

Interesting. No discussion on Captain America: The Winters Soldier? I saw it last week and thought that with a few small changes, it easily could have been a Bond or Jason Bourne film. I wonder what EON is doing to meet this kind of challenge?

Well that certainly looks great fun! Can't wait for this sequel/prequel. It'll be good to see the generations of X-Men come together on screen.

I love Jennifer Lawrence too! I mean I actually enjoyed Silver Linings Playbook because it wasn't your standard romantic movie. It was different and I liked it. I think she is a pretty good actress.

I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier 10 days ago. it's in the top 2 or 3 Marvel films . I really enjoyed it. They got Captain America as right as they did Iron man.

Go to the what movie have you watched today thread. We've been discussing it there. That said, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now my second favorite Marvel movie after Iron Man. I just wish The Winter Soldier was in it more. Anyway, with CA2 and Thor 2, here are my current standings for Marvel movies:
1. Iron Man
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3. The Avengers
4. Captain America: The First Avenger
5. Iron Man 2
6. Thor
7. The Incredible Hulk
8. Thor: The Dark World
9. Iron Man 3

I agree with this listing. I loved Captain America The Winter Soldier a lot plus the Avengers was really good. I definitely agree with where Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 should be. They just weren't all the great.

I guess I'll be one of the few to come to the defense of Iron Man 3. It's miles better than Iron Man 2, and is about on par with the original, which was pretty good. I would probably rank those two films at the top of the vastly overrated library of Marvel films. I still have yet to see why The Avengers was popular at all.

Well here's me coming to defend the Avengers.
I loved the Avengers for a lot of different reasons. For one, everyone had chemistry with each other. The movie itself was funny even though there was an alien invasion going on. One of my favorite lines is when Tony Stark asks Bruce Banner on how he keeps himself together "So what's your secret? Bongo Drums or a little sac of weed?" I also enjoyed how each character had their moments at different times. Thor was doing his lightning strike during the alien invasion. Captain America saved hostages trapped in a bank wasn't it? Tony Stark had funny lines thrown in everywhere. Black Widow was portrayed well. Plus I loved the relationship between Hawkeye and Black Widow. There is a lot to love about this movie for me.

I love The Avengers. It's one of those films that basically revels in being a superhero film. Not like The Dark Knight Rises. Have I mentioned I hate TDKR? Mark Ruffalo was excellent as the Hulk and I would love to see what he could do in his own solo movie. His cameo at the end of IM3 was really the only good part of the film. The chemistry the cast has is really what makes the film work, IMO. That said, I really wish Marvel would dump Cobie Smulders and recast Maria Hill. I also agree about Hawkeye and Black Widow. They both need their own films or maybe a Hawkeye/Black Widow film. We could see what happened to them in Budapest.

The Avengers was just terrible. For all of the discussion about how great the chemistry was between the members of the team, I don't really see it. From what I remember of the film, the "chemistry" that existed amongst the characters really just boiled down to a lot of bickering and in-fighting amongst the Avengers. On top of that, the entire thing was just insufferably dull.

True or not, I'm not going to be seeing the film. At least right away. The month of May is going to be a busy one and I've already booked what appears to be the only two films that month I will see.

It's too early to tell what the truth is with Bryan Singer. We've seen it play out both ways in the past, where the allegations have been true and where they haven't. We'll just have to wait and see. Depending on how it goes though, I could see it hurting the performance of X-Men: Days of Future Past as well as the production of X-Men: Apocalypse.

I thought the bickering and in-fighting helped to build the chemistry between the characters. We saw them grow from individual head-cases into a team. It worked out well and I think will be interesting to see how it grows in the next Avengers.

The idea and the story of Days Of Future past is great, honestly it is, but I feel somewhat indifferent about the film now. Part of it is my concern that it may turn out to be another Spider-Man 3, with just too much going on and not enough emphasis towards the characters and the story.
That's one of the reasons why I've loved the X-Men films for so long now. They manage to be both entertaining, but rather intriguing with their array of characters of somewhat compelling stories.

Yea, I can understand where you're coming from on that. DoFP does seem a bit....crowded. That said, that is what the Days of Future Past storyline is. I think we'll just have to wait and see if it all works out. The biggest reason I'm excited for it is the First Class cast. X-Men First Class is the one that got me back into X-Men after Wolverine Origins and Last Stand all but killed my enthusiasm. I wouldn't worry too much about the Spiderman 3 effect with DoFP. X-Men is meant to be slightly crowded. Let TASM2 deal with that stuff, which went SM3 on itself a full movie early.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Iron Man 3
Iron Man
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
The Incredible Hulk
Thor
Thor: The Dark World
Iron Man 2
As far as I'm concerned, Iron Man 2 is an absolute train wreck of a movie, and a colossal missed opportunity to use Mickey Rourke effectively. Thankfully, I don't see us getting anything remotely that inept in the near future. Really looking forward to Captain America 3.

Based on the hype that Days of Future Past has been receiving, I was expecting much more from the trailer. Jackman looks like he'll be as good as always as Wolverine, but the rest of it looks like it'll be pretty mediocre fare that has been the hallmark of Bryan Singer's career to this point.

X-MEN is to crowed because that's what it's about, a group of Mutants. DoFP of course seems somewhat crowed because it involves two timelines as well.
I really enjoyed HULK(03) and THE INCREDIBLE HULK (08) was ok. I don't care much for Mark Ruffalo but I'd still would like to see them do another Hulk film.
They should do another two IRON MAN films IMO, why not. I'm sure they tried and Downing must have wanted a break from it all.
CAPTAIN AMERICA is alright, I'm more a fan of it then I am THOR.

Iron Man 2 was a train wreck that I do agree with. I also say that Iron Man 3 is better than Iron Man 2 but I can't believe that it's ranked as high on your list! I mean Iron Man 3 just slaughtered the Mandarin in my opinion..

My Marvel love pretty much boils down to all of the X-Men movies (can't wait for 'DOFP'), and Captain America. That's it.
I can take 'The Avengers' due to the variety of heroes and action sequences, but individually I find it hard to tolerate, bar Cap'n.
