I agree with everything you said. Unless Another Punisher film is made, the only comic book/superhero films I'll be seeing will be the X-Men films. Sure they decrease with each film, but they're quite intriguing and interesting and fun. They don't follow the "Dark, Edgy, Drama" route that many seem to be heading.

If a new Punisher film was to be made I only ask for Neil Marshall to direct and Kevin Duran to play Frank Castle.

Sony sets release dates for 3rd and 4th Spider-Man films

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 hits theaters on June 10, 2016 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 arrives on May 4, 2018.  I find this rather amazing since the first film was lacking in many areas and its sequel is almost a full year away.

I think it says a lot about Sony's confidence in their rebooted Spider-Man franchise, as that's a pretty rigid schedule to stick to. I also assume this means they'll lock up Andrew Garfield for the third and fourth films.

They do seem pretty confident.  I'm not overly surprised by them announcing a third film, but I would have at least waited to see how the second film ended up doing next year before committing to a fourth picture four years from now.  At least we know what Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and company will be busy with for the next four years.  ;)

It´s probably more of a strategy to show confidence. To the audience and to the shareholders (who need to be assured that blockbusters are about to come).

Maybe it´s even a way to tell Marvel: don´t even think about Spider-Man, we will ride this wave at least for three more movies.

And if Spider-Man 2 tanks, nothing is as easy as yanking stuff off your release schedule.

I wish that Spiderman could go back to Marvel, sony is just being greedy. I did like the remake of Spiderman though.

If Sony can book in the actors and director, it's in their interest to lock in release dates in a field crowded with Marvel movies, Star Wars, Man of Steel sequels, Star Trek's 50th anniversary, X-Men movies, rumors of Justice League, and the like.  If they don't keep these movies in production, the rights revert back to Marvel.

I don't think that it's a case of Sony being greedy at all.  Continuing to make Spider-Man movies is just good business sense, especially since it now appears as though they have a contract for the rights that would cause Marvel to regain the rights if they don't keep certain productions milestones in place, as Professor Pi pointed out above.

That said, I do wish that they'd finally make a good Spider-Man movie.  It's a better character than what's been depicted thus far on the big screen.

Why only 4 and not 5? Seems like they are building towards the Sinister Six. I wonder what they are planning. Either way I've kind of lost interest in Spider Man altogether, its really more targeted for a younger audience IMO.

Latest news is now Mary-Jane's scenes are being cut from 'TASM 2' ... possibly going to develop her character more over the next 2 films?

And do we have another villain alongside Electro and Rhino...Black Cat?

Man of Steel

Rating: B/ B-

*spoilers in this review*

I just went to see Man of Steel today and I thought it was a very good attempt at a reboot, was it perfect? did it blow me away? Absolutely not, but with a sequel I think this movie and this franchise could be really awesome. First the things I loved: General Zod. I don't watch Boardwalk Empire so I had no idea who Michael Shannon was, but he was absolutely bad ass as General Zod. His performance felt real. He wanted his planet to be reborn and he believed it was his duty that he had to kill every person on Earth and his performance was really believable. I also liked Henry Cavill as Superman. I think he just fit the look of Superman really well. Somethings that I thought could have been better were Amy Adams. I thought she was a little bland as Lois Lane and I thought that Superman and Lois needed a little bit more chemistry but this didn't distract me from the rest of the movie. Also I think they tried to jam so many different ideas in this movie, such as his struggles with his superpowers (which I really enjoyed it help make him relatable) and then the Daily Planet at the end, it was too much I felt like.

Overall I think the sequel definitely can improve, but I think this was a really good attempt at superman and I hope this leads to the launch of Justice League.

Robert Downey Jr. signs two-picture deal to return as Iron Man

The deal is for Downey Jr. to return as Iron Man for the upcoming Marvel's The Avengers 2 and Marvel's The Avengers 3.  Nothing is said in the article about the potential for Downey Jr. to return for a separate Iron Man 4.

I guess. Even more so if THOR 2 disappoints (which seems very probable) and CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 will also not reach the b.o. heights of IRON MAN (a sure thing, I believe).

That leaves THE AVENGERS 2 (which almost certainly will be huge again) and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (which might be a huge flop, considering nobody but the hard core nerds know what this is about).

Either Marvel will have to rush IRON MAN 3 into the opening b.o. gap - or they will wait for THE AVENGERS 3 to resurrect Tony Stark.

Henry Cavill talks 'Justice League':  "It won't be right away."

Cavill says:

Justice League could be great if done correctly. It’s a very tough one to do because the DC comic heroes are all god-like in their power. So in this real world universe, real-world setting we’re telling our story in, it’s going to be tough to achieve that. It has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought. So, it won’t be right away. I hope it’s not, anyway. It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another.

Well of course it shouldn't happen right away! They need to do a lot of other reboots and then they need to fix the Green Lantern.

Indeed - I just hope they don't leave it too late.

It's harder for DC now to do this 'Justice League' right, as the world will now always be on them as a direct 'Avengers' comparison, which isn't rightly true, but in the era of which film came first, 'Justice League' will really need to craft a unique style and feel of it's own to stand tall beside Marvel's offering.

Batman, Superman and (possibly) Green Lantern done. Now just Wonder Woman and The Flash for a hardcore group of 5 heroes... with their own films needed and a re-take of Batman and a 'Man Of Steel' sequel "leading into Justice League", then it could be many years before it is the right time. Seeds need to be planted carefully.

I think they should concentrate on getting a MOS sequel first and also sort out how Nolan´s Batman could either go on or be re-booted tastefully before JUSTICE LEAGUE could be tackled.

Maybe they should try to get Superman and Batman together in one film before even attempting to get other DC heroes into a JL film.

I'd rather they just not even make a Justice League film.  Unless they veer off in the complete opposite direction of what Marvel did with The Avengers, which was one of the worst superhero movies I've seen in a long time, I'd prefer that they just stick to making individual films for the DC characters.

Is Vin Diesel Black Panther? the Actor Takes a Meeting at Marvel

Does Marvel want Vin Diesel as Black Panther?
Out of all the actors and celebrities who interact with fans through Facebook and/or Twitter, few are as open as Vin Diesel. The Riddick star revealed on his Facebook page today that Marvel Studios has requested to meet with him.

"Marvel has requested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me..."

With the amount of projects that Marvel has in various stages of development, it's hard to pin down what exactly this meeting may be for. Marvel Phase Two movies Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2 have not gone into production yet, neither has the only confirmed Marvel Phase Three movie, Ant-Man. Other projects in development include Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and, much further down the line, The Avengers 3.

Would you like to see Vin Diesel suit up as a Marvel superhero? Or a Marvel villain? There has been much controversy over Michael B. Jordan being cast as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four. Are they tempting more controversy by throwing Vin Diesel into the ring as African chief of the Panther Tribe of the advanced nation of Wakanda, T'Chall, aka Black Panther? Diesel was raised by a caucasian mother and African-American stepfather, and has often said that he is 'definitely a person of colour'. So why not? He actually looks like he could pull off the part. Let the controversy begin. Who do you think Vin Diesel should play in the Marvel Universe?

Vin Diesel's Riddick hits theaters on September 6, and he will likely also begin production later this year on Fast & Furious 7, returning as Dominic Torreto.

I agree with this. Maybe have a superman and batman team up movie would be kind of cool. Plus I think if they are going to do a justice league movie they would have to reboot Batman because Nolan's movies have nothing to do with Justice League at all.

They must be working to establishing The Sinister Six as Spider-Man's equivalent to The Avengers. Weren't they going to try and do that with the older 2000 series?

Not that there was ever any doubt about this, but Christian Bale confirmed it today:

Christian Bale:  No 'Justice League' for me

Now I guess the tabloids and entertainment sites will have to find something else to write about.
