You should do - they still have stock so should honour it all. Unlike gift cards and such.

I know what you mean, but if the place closes before the DVD and BLU RAY is released, i doubt I will still get it.......

The staff in my local HMV said that it'll be open for at least a month longer; the Blue Cross Sale is a month long. So looks like if they don't find a buyer, it'll close a few days before it comes out.

I had to do the same with the HOMELAND box set. They had huge amounts of stock of most other series and chart movies though, so I thought it may have been an anomaly.

I know I soiund selfish, but if they do close, perhaps the online department will operate for a while longe?

I would have always thought orders placed before it closes had to be honoured, as they still would have stock (unless they've not had orders placed for stock already) to take customers money and get what they can.

If they've yet to order stock of 'Skyfall', they may cancel them all as to avoid having lots left to ship. I don't know how this will play out, but hope the steelbook still gets a release.

I am assuming that with about a month to go before release at least some (if not the majority) of the steelbooks may already have been produced. If this is the case then they must be looking at ways to release them to re-coup any costs already incurred especially as this has the potential to be one of the biggest releases of the year.

The expectation on some Blu-ray forums appears to be that the steelbook offer in the UK will shift to Amazon or Zavvi. I guess we just need to keep our eyes open for any new listings.

Amazon recently got hold of the Looper steelbook, which was exclusive to HMV here in the UK, so keep a look out for Bond.

Having said that, Zavvi were rumored to have 75% of the Skyfall steelbook stock, so who knows.

I'm a regular on a couple of steelbook related websites and forums, so will keep you updated.

Hope this gets a steelbook release in the states. If it does not I will probably just wait for the price to come down. Please give me an excuse not to wait.

So the Americans get it a week before the UK! I guess that's fair after we got the theatrical release 2 weeks earlier.

Not long now..!

The confirmation link here from ComingSoon.net also secures the 2 audio commentaries, from Sam Mendes and MGW, Babs and Dennis Gassner.

Result.

So for now nothing new about the U.S. Blu-ray, as maybe a Best Buy and Target exclusive, with maybe a better cover art, more extras and so on.

Are the remaing Bond Blu-rays that were exclusive to Target, Best Buy and Walmart now going be released to all stores on the day Skyfall comes out on DVD and Blu-ray? That what they are saying on blu-ray.com when I did a search for TND, AVTAK, TSWLM and the other ones. The only ones that doin't have that date and still have thje old date are DAF and GE(maybe they forgot to update those two).

You should really upgrade. BR is so much better. And you can still watch your DVDs on it, with upscaled picture quality.

I'm stoked at the special features listing for this movie. Especially that we will get an audio commentary from Sam Mendes.

Now that the special features have been confirmed I can finish my custom cover for the movie :)

Can't wait for February 12.

I'm not going to upgrade until I absolutely, positively have to. I Don't see the need to pay for something that still looks clear as DVD does.

The Blu-ray release will include a DVD of the movie as well, so when you finally do upgrade you will already have it in Blu-ray.

By the way, DVD quality is absolutely horrendous. I didn't notice it until I started watching movies in Blu-ray, but DVD is pathetic in terms of picture and audio quality.

Blu-ray all the way. I will never stoop so low as to buying a DVD of anything ever again. My Blu-ray collection is over 830 movies and counting. :)

Blu-ray Special Features:

● Shooting Bond
○ Intro
○ Opening Sequence
○ The Title Sequence
○ 007
○ Q
○ DB5
○ Women
○ Villains
○ Action
○ Locations
○ Music
○ End Sequence
○ M
○ The Future
● Skyfall Premiere
● Commentaries
○ Director Sam Mendes
○ Producers Michael G. Wilson & Barbara Broccoli; Production Designer Dennis Gassner
● Theatrical Trailer

Sorry, I've done the comparisons with Blu-Ray movie Rips on my HD monitor and DVD's, No difference at all in any aspect. Therefore, why should I upgrade? The bonus features? Sorry, I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.

What? Then you didn't do any comparison at all. Now you're re-rendering and compressing an image that was barely compressed (if at all) to begin with. It's not even the same thing. It's not even in the same ballpark. Comparing a REAL Blu-ray to a DVD, at a minimum if you can't see the difference between 480p and 1080p then there's no hope for you. Why even have an HD monitor or TV to begin with?

I don't care that you don't want to upgrade, that's fine. Many Blu-ray players actually do a pretty decent job at upscaling DVDs. But rationalizing it because you can't see a difference on a rip? That's ridiculous.

I don't see how I've done NO COMPARISON AT ALL. I've done everything that I could possibly do. There is No difference to me. That's my final result. I don't need to look up videos and blogs and read someone else's opinion when I'm set on my own opinion and final result. I've not just seen BR rips, I've seen actual BR Disc footage, and that didn't even phase me.

BR players are pretty cheap now, seen one for $90.00 at Target actually. $60.00 for a BR PC Disc Drive at Best Buy.

Will I upgrade? Eventually, when DVD is completely Phased out which won't be anytime soon, then I'll have no choice but to. I still buy DVD's because it's the best thing for me. Sure the studio's tend to throw all the extras on the BR Release, but still, I'm still happy with DVD, and always will be.

The exciting thing for me is that the film is arriving online (iTunes etc) in two weeks, on February 5th.

Surely this is one of the swiftest home releases ever?

I stand by what I said about comparisons. Again, 480p vs 1080p. It's night and day. Hell you don't even need a Blu-ray to see that. Go to YouTube and tell us you don't see a difference. You don't need to read my opinion to get that. I don't think you've ever been exposed to a good setup, which would explain a lot. Hey, whatever, I don't care. I just don't see how you can be so dismissive of the technology. Makes no sense. Again, whatever....

I upgraded to Blu-Ray to own the Bond50 set and I have to say, I am very glad I did after putting it off so long. There is a crispness to the films I've watched I didn't know could be there, it just looks...richer? It's hard to explain, but people have different views and perspectives.

Plus I've noticed the lack of DVD features now and the increase on Blu Ray, and I am a sucker for paying money for a good, meaty package of the film and features and Blu-Ray really does deliver.

Can't wait for this one to take prime place! :D
