Well it's the way forward now, the DVD will probably have a few token features on and the Blu-Ray jam packed! Another reason I've moved to Blu Ray for my favourite films, they get way more in the way of bonus features.

It also ties up with the Blu-Ray on Amazon too, the amount of extra features. Can't wait to see them but still a shame there's no deleted scenes.

God...remember the days of video when all we got was just the film?! What would we have done without the DVD and the wealth of extras we now expect as standard? Great stuff.

When DVD is FULLY DEAD, then I'll upgrade. DVD should still get the same fair amount of special features, however this isn't the case.

I know, it's sad isn't it that DVD is sometimes over-looked. I only got a Blu Ray for my birthday in June for the Bond 50 Boxset, and since have only bought my most treasured films for the full features and experience, they consist of 'The Dark Knight Trilogy', 'The Expendables Directors Cut', 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' and 'Star Wars I-VI'

An example though is 'The Expendables' is only in directors cut on Blu-Ray, and 'The Dark Knight Rises' is just 1 disc on DVD, but 2 disc Blu-Ray, packed with extras.

I want to wait and see what editions of 'Skyfall' will be due out as I am sure there will be variations.

I have some Blu-Ray films I torrented a while back, but I don't own any. I have 'The Expendables: Director's Cut' on my PC. I own all 22 Bond films, but would still love it in an epic box set. I bought 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' and was upset with the only special feature being David Fincher's audio commentary. I was expecting much more, especially since 'The Social Network' had a good amount of extras for the DVD.

I just want a special two-disc edition of 'Skyfall' then I'll be happy.

Me too - I hope it's 2 Disc. It should be, keeping with the previous Craig's. Although god knows why 'Quantum Of Solace' was 2 discs with the minimal bits there.

The German "Girl"-BD is a 2-Disc-Edition with lots of extras, by the way.

DVD and Blu-ray content are in a strange place these days. Some, like the initial releases of CR and QoS, include a few featurettes and then either release a larger set later on - as CR did - or leave it open for more content - which QoS hinted at but didn't end up doing, likely because the film wasn't as popular as CR. Sounds as if Skyfall will rememdy that. But I can't help but wonder, if that list, though long, may mean more is actually less.

When I got my first DVD player in late '99, all those making of features that were made directly for the DVD and older content that was included seemed like a revelation. Now they seem chopped up into featurettes, some 2-3 minutes in length with a few soundbites, and a lot even include previously-seen web content. I've found some on the newer Bond DVDs have been uninvolving for some reason when presented this way. Anybody else feel that way?

And the industry really hasn't had anything really interestnig come out lately. Not that I need gimmicks, it just seems as if they come up with things all the time and I haven't seen anything like that for Blu-ray. Things like chatting live with other fans watching the film seemed aimed at a certain group of fans. If I want to do that I'll come here.

I agree with that besides it's stupid I don't have a plasma screen, I mean I have had the same TV since 1997 and it still works. No point in upgrading to blu ray.

Actually, blu-ray does not need a bigger tv. It really is just a much more detailed and sharper viewing experience on any tv.

I've been thinking of getting a Blu-Ray drive for me PC, cheaper than a PS3 and an actual BR Player. If I get it, it's only for Bond 50. Still, $200.00+ isn't worth it.

BluRay is still very expensive in Argentina, at least to me. I'll go for BR when DVD is completely dead, as Ace says.

Sadly, I can't get a BR drive since I've got a Samsung laptop, and it comes with DVD-RW drive, but I can't change it :(

The major clincher for me upgrading to Blu-ray wasn't the improved image, but being free of the awful PAL system. Not having the film (and audio) sped-up by 4%, raising music up almost a semitone, was worth it.

I guess the 18 February release date is now confirmed (perhaps a mod might like to amend the title of this thread), for I was watching the season finale of HOMELAND just now and during the commercial break there was an ad for SKYFALL's DVD/Blu-ray release, announcing it was available to pre-order for 18 February.

First time I've ever seen a commercial for the DVD/Blu-ray release of a film almost two months in advance!

Just seen the TV ad for the 'Skyfall' Blu Ray - pretty much the same as a cinema spot, but it also does say "Still in Cinemas" and to "Pre-order Blu-Ray out February 18th"

So all official now! :D

It would cheer me up, but I don't have a Blu-ray player. Hopefully there is a DVD steelbook as well.

So is it for the U.S. the IMAX Midnight poster cover one, or the UK and some other countries. IF it U.S., is the Steelbook for all stores or it an exclusive to a retail chain like Best Buy, Target, Costco, Walmart or FYE.

There will probably be a similar version for the US.

I am surprised that the DVD/Blu-ray is being announced and advertised already. This could easily kill any box office momentum the film had. I realise it is coming to end of its cinema release in most markets, but let it end naturally and not because people will just wait a few weeks for the home entertainment release. That billion dollar target will be further away now ( & I'm still hoping it makes £100million in the UK).
