I take this back. I've listened a few more times and I now think this is the song (but it sounds like we didn't hear the whole thing). My verdict...I'm not at all convinced what we have here is the final song. The insertion of the Bond theme and "Bondian" flares just seem very David Arnoldish to me. Like a music video that's had movie clips inserted. I think it's possible this could be another special mix...maybe.
It's fine.
Keys and White make what they think a Bond song is required to sound like. Hear that little Bondian tinkle tinkle? Man, that is just nasty. It's a classic trap YKMN and what's his name avoided, which is why I like that song much better. But I'm happy it's not a ballad, and maybe it'll work better with the titles, and I like the beat and her voice... Whatever.
(I actually liked the Devil May Care song better. Serious.)

Also, it's each teams' own decision for what to put their heads on the block.CBn is much more visible. Sometimes CBn even gets blamed for the crimes of other sites. It's the price of being #1.It's strange that a certain other bond forum seems to be managing fine.
"Hello Mum" and "Robert Mugabe" currently on par, hmmm

But I did like the song for several reasons:
- Firstly, I think EON have finally gotten themselves a title singer whose voice - or in this case, voices - match the music that accompanies them. It's been years since they've goten that right; GoldenEye was the last time I recall that happening.
- Secondly, I like the lyrics. I think they're an evolution of Chris Cornell's metaphors, and a damn sight better than most of the stuff we've had in the past (Madge, here's looking at you). Sure, they might take a little time to get your head around, but at least you can ge your head around them.
- Thirdly, I like the sound. Most would-be title artists would have produced something that was either a throwback to the days of old, like Amy Winehouse, or something that was really very modern. Either way, I think it would have been very forgettable. But Jack White has managed to put something together that is the best of both worlds.
- Foruthly, Alicia Keys. I aways wondered why EON didn't find an RnB singer for a Bond theme earlier, but having checked some of her music out and other artists in the genre, it's obvious she's the only actual Rn singer. Most self-described RnB artists are really just hip hop trying to differentiate themselves.
- They only thing I didn't like about it was the fact tht I couldn't tell when Jack White stopped singing and Alicia Keys started on the first run through. But that may prove to be a good thing as they can easily harmonise as opposed to having a deeply-masculine voice offset by a clearly-feminine one.

AWTD is short for Another Way To Die, isn't it? Silly question, I know, but I'm not at all up to speed with QoS. In fact, I know nothing about it, except what the trailer shows and that Bond is going after the organisation that killed Vesper.

Not entirely sure what was meant by "Robert Mugabe" as a poll option, or whatever it has to do with the discussion, but it was so randomly funny that I cast that as my vote.

Good points indeed. I'm not fully ever going to "come around" on the song, (unless the second half is absolutely awesome), but I'm starting to accept it's not that terrible. I played the sample for a few friends who both liked it, and reminded me, "What did you expect a Jack White song to sound like?"
I can deal with it. It's still nowhere near as bad as Madonna's, and I've never really liked Sheryl Crow's, either. So in reality, I'm personally only batting .500 with "liking Bond themes" since GoldenEye.
I knew this would happen. I liked YKMN too much.

I like it.
My only complaint - as someone else has mentioned here - is that their voices sound abit hollow.

Could be the fact that it's a .WAV file that's floating around, perhaps? I mean .WAVs are not the best quality.*shrugs*

Oh I do. Just seems best would be to lock this thread, and only allow discussion after the song has been officially released. (I'm no lawyer, just play on on the 'netCBn is much more visible. What Mr. A said. Appreciate the legal minefield the Team has to tread here. Can we acknowledge that it exists?

I note that over on the "other site" (which I never otherwise visit) the conversation is much more... negative. And also, more juvenile, I have to say. Makes me appreciate CBn all the more!

As for the vocals, I'm not sold yet - I'll reserve my judgment until I can wrap my ears around the final version.
But musically, it's cool stuff.

True, the vocals and trash! Im listening to YKMN and it just puts AWTD to shameFrom the short snippet that's making the rounds, I think the song is refreshingly different so far - As far as the music goes.

Why didnt chris cornell return?! That would have been a hundred times better

First... welcome to CBn! And as for Chris Cornell... that's just not the way it works. The only artist that has ever returned has been Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever & Moonraker) and those weren't back-to-back.Why didnt Chris Cornell return?!

So he didnt return because they want to follow the stupid traddition of not having the same artist for more than one bond film? Sounds like a lame excuse to meFirst... welcome to CBn! You Know My Name was more Bondian than this. Or not. Actually, the song, although some lines are clearly too similar to YKMN, does have a discernable feel, and the more I listen to it, they may have found a way to transport a Bond title song into our time.
It isn't in the same league as the classic Bond titles, but it fits the Craig Bond very well.

SOunds like creativity and artistic variety to me.
