If Goldfinger came on the radio, my first instinct would probably throw it out the window. To DAF's credit, I'd probably just change the station.
Yes, god forbid you hear a great Bond song !

According to your profiles, he's only two years younger than you; let's debate the song, not each other.IMO, most Bond songs are lame. With the exception of a few that I like. LALD, AVTAK and YKMN. Seriously when was the last time you turned on the radio and blasted "The Living Daylights" by a-Ha. But when it comes to this song, I'll make my judgement during the opening titles and see how well it goes with that.
Boy, this post just really showed your age.

I'll glady admit to changing my mind:). But as I said I haven't gone from one extreme to the other, more "disappointed" to "above average pleased."
Although, I'm assuming everyone hears the clear OHMSS riff at 3:10? I thought that was cool, and quite unexpected. Nice little nod.
Jeeez, you are right. COOL....

I'd be more than happy to... if Shirley Bassey got out of the way and let me.

Yes, singers in Bond songs, what were they thinking ? Getting back to the song though, I can't believe people are actually putting this on the level on LALD. Just because it was from a band and musician that was popular at the time.

Well, I wouldn't place it up there with LALD, but it's certainly head and shoulders above Goldfinger.

The issue is more "bad singers in Bond songs," although in Dame Bassey's case I'd say it was a good singer (as evidenced by DAF and MR) having a severely off day.Yes, singers in Bond songs, what were they thinking ?
Personally, I'm comparing it to LALD to the extent that it's so bizarre and eclectic. I don't like it as much as LALD, but then again this isn't as much of a rock song. There's more of a soul/R&B touch. I'd say the best approximation for it is if you scrambled Alice Cooper's TMWTGG with Gladys Knight's LTK.Getting back to the song though, I can't believe people are actually putting this on the level on LALD.
