The random foreign guy who talks over it is quite annoying. ;)

Random guy? That's just General Medrano's voiceover.

Dammit, Righty, I was about to crack the same response out! :)

I suppose the full song includes Dominic Greene and Elvis's voiceovers, as well... :D

"I know that everything Bond tries to touch seems to wither and die..."

"I know my hairpiece looks like a dessicated skunk, but yo, I really try..."

:)

LMAO that's hillarious! :) :(

Well done! *throws baloon!*

I'm not at all convinced what we have here is the final song. The insertion of the Bond theme and "Bondian" flares just seem very David Arnoldish to me. Like a music video that's had movie clips inserted. I think it's possible this could be another special mix...maybe.

I plan to do what I did with ‘You Know My Name’ wait until I see the film. Therefore ‘Reserve Judgement’ seems the most appropriate thing to vote.

Some of the best Bond songs were the ones that sounded the least Bondian - "Live and Let Die," or "Nobody Does It Better."

I'm on board 100% with you on that, but those songs had something else going for them: they were phenomenal tunes in their own right, and the public consensus would probably agree with me. My own opinions aside, I can't see public consensus being as kind to this one.

Well, sure. And I even stated in my above post that this commentary is more in general than specifically tied to "Another Way to Die," which so far I'm somewhat unsure of. But failure or no, at least it's not another pastiche of 1960s Barry.

I'm surprised no one's pointed out the similarity to Lulu's "The Man With the Golden Gun".

It's surprisingly camp. And very. Love the piano riff, the lunatic guitar and drums, the eccentrically Ian Brownish R&B elements, and the general screaming campness of it. And the dude talking in Spanish takes it into a realm so surreal as to be almost David Lynch.

I like it a lot. And it's gonna grow and grow and be as catchy as the plague, the kind of thing you'll be trying to get out of your head before long. It's not a solid gold classic like "You Know My Name", but, yeah, count me a satisfied Bond fan.

I don't see how they "took what made Bond songs great," since "Live and Let Die" and "Nobody Does It Better" don't really have much in common with any of their Bond song predecessors. They're huge departures.

What make Bond songs great is being larger then life as well as dramatic, those are the basic elements. Both songs did that with a good style. Not really a huge departure because they both had the logic approach.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMM!! This is :(ing awesome!! ;) White and Keys' vocals are an awsome compliment to each other and the whole tune just oozes a dark and sombre feeling that is VERY Bond-like!! I can't wait for this to be released!! :D :) :)

I wonder if the term "Quantum of Solace" is used in the latter half of the song.

What???

First things first I love the music, it's amazing. Rocky but still with a very Bondian edge something I think YKMN lacked, it could have gone to any film, remember Bond themes are quite to be loud and ballsy and this is that musically.
But the chorus is laughable, the lyrics are awfull. White sounds awfull, I think Keys should have done the whole thing. I really hope they use the instrumental theme.

It lacks the power that initially struck me with YKMN, but I am warming up to it.

Funnily enough the one thing I was a bit disappointed with at first with YKMN is that it's a little poweless: that first version we heard doesn't really go anywhere, it doesn't build up to something. I think this half of this song already has more power, although I would say that AWTD doesn't quite have the same melodic hook.

The verse reminds me quite a bit of Tori Amos' Cornflake Girl, especially the bit where she goes 'And the man with the golden gun thinks he knows so much...'

Yes, I would not say that "Nobody Does It Better" is a huge departure at all.

As for LALD. I consider it to be almost an insult to the genious music Barry created before it. It is impossible to even understand how that lame song can be considered to be better than TB, YOLT or DAF!!! But I know, the taste is different.

As for 'AWTD'... dont get me started. I just hope that it don't reflect the actual film.

As appealing as half a kitten floating in a puddle of piss.

This modern music - you just can't make out the words, can you?

I suddenly feel very old.

Hmm, no option for "It's Alright"...?

Yeah, its a Bond theme. It'll do. Shrug. Possibly will grow on me a bit, or it won't.

It took me quite a while to warm up to YKMN, but I really love it now, and indeed consider it one of the finest Bond songs ever. This one grabbed me on first listen, though.

It's not a solid gold classic like "You Know My Name"...

I love that "You Know My Name" has become so appreciated by the fans. I was pretty disappointed when the song first leaked (though, it was the rock version), but it slowly grew on me and by the time I was sitting in the cinema at the world premiere and that wonderful, brassy rendition kicked in, I was sold.

My appreciation for the song has only grown with time.

Could it be that the descending horns and strings that appear in the intro and mid-way right after our Latin DJ chimes in are a nod to TMWTGG? Sure sounds like it to these ears.

Can't...stop...hearing it...help :(

I think it's a real beauty after a few hears, pure gold. Modern but classic with an elegant touch of style, glamour mixed with rock.

I can't wait to see it with the titles, it fits perfectly with the dark tone of the movie.

I've only listened to it once. But my first reaction is, that it lacks the punch.

It's retro, and might fit with the title sequence, the movie's overall feel and what you got. But it doesn't really sound hit material. I can better judge it, when we've got the full song, not one that gets cut off.

Few minutes later...

Since the song is playing on a loop on my laptop, I'm beginning to like it more and more... and now my foot is beginning to move with the rhythm. Damn you Jack White... you've done decent enough song.
