Think I basically like it. But the little Bond theme flares are lame and shouldn't be there, IMO. But maybe they aren't there in the real version?

Do people here really believe that what you get in a soft drink commercial is what you'll get in Quantum Of Solace?

Yes, because it's the exact same song.

Interesting song. Once I've heard it in full, and given it a decent number of listens, I'll weigh in with a judgment.
I'm hopping on that train. I've listened to the sample a few times, my opinion is already shifting itself about certain things. No more judgement from me until we get a full version:)

There is a sentiment....patience draws the prize.
And I'll add another one - this sort of 'leaking' damages the goodwill towards the fans, perhaps this site and film-making in general. God, the song is premiered on the radio in two weeks and available to buy in a month.
I know these things are intriguing to us all, but until we hear the song in the context of the title sequence and the film itself then it really is pretty redundant judging it from a bootleg copy put online by a fan or employee who just wants the kudos of expose.

So you're saying what you heard is what we'll hear in the movie? Are you

Between the Coke ad and this, I'm having a terrible first experience with this tune. But I guess it's my own fault for listening.
With all due respect to you, Zen, I think you have no one else to blame but yourself.

How about waiting for the final product to make a judgement? What a concept, eh?

There IS something wrong with saying "Song/trailer is crap, film is going to fail," but I don't think anyone is really making that argument here.
I agree context is a huge part of it, seeing it with the titles in the background will be a huge part of the FILM experience. But a song is a song, and should stand on its own in some respect. In that way, people should be allowed to comment on what they think of it when hearing it separately from the film.

In my view it should had been just whites song, but I still like it.

I didn't make a final judgment. I only judged what I hear in this this leaked version. And I even said the thing I don't like in this version may not be in the final song.Between the Coke ad and this, I'm having a terrible first experience with this tune. But I guess it's my own fault for listening.

By the way, can anyone identify the tinkly countermelody bit at the beginning of the song? The tune sounds so damn familiar...

I would've liked it with the rock opening we heard in the Coke commercial, then the vocals, but it's growing on me...

The rock opening is there, turns out it's actually part of the chorus. But it's purpose seems to be more rythmic than melodic.

Another tricky little gun giving solace to the one that will never see the sun shine
Another inch of your life sacrificed for your brother in the nick of time
Another dirty money, heaven sent honey turning all the time

I'm with Hildebrand here. It's actually really damaging to the song and the goodwill between Eon and the fans (which is sort of represented by proxy here on CBN). We all want our own experience of the final film to be virginal - unsullied and pure. How does half hearing a ropy bootleg cut of the song aide that experience?! THEN people have the bravado (or stupidity) to bleat on about it not being good enough for the film - as if they have heard a decent copy of the song AND seen the final cut of the film.
A telling moment for the perception of Bond fans.
