I feel like the only person on earth who hasn't heard this
I felt the same thing until I saw your post. Take heart and cheer the fact that you're not making a judgement call on something that isn't even a completed product.
Lyrics for YKMN were changed. Music for YKMN was changed. The movie version was not the same as the 4:03 version released on the net...And, here, people are critiquing and analysing something that's, what, 1 minute in lenght? That's recorded off the radio? Where you have to guess the lyrics?
People are funny!
In a way i'm glad I have not heard this. I bet it's a trial balloon and that what we'll hear in the movie will be quite different.
Reminds me of when I was a child and I had a tape recoder up to the TV to record "Goldfinger" or "Thunderball" when it was shown on the ABC Sunday Night Movie.

That said - I was disappointed because I was hoping for a more subdued song - I was hoping for something more like YOLT or DAF. I guess I was expecting this because the last film ended on the somber note and we knew this film was about the inner struggle of Bond addressing those issues. But - like I said - I do like what I heard and I can't wait to hear the final - full orchestra version.

I'll reserve final and proper judgement until I've actually heard the whole song. Initial thoughts are: not wild on the lyrics, but the music is intersting - definitely better than Madonna's Die Another Day. I'm beginning to think I might prefer it to YKMN as well (which I wasn't wild on) and hoping it's there in the actual film sound track.

I also like the truncated description of Bond's situation at the start of the film in the chorus:
I'm gonna let it open (? Can't make out that first bit),
I think that's
A door left open

Hardly a first for a Bond song, though. I daresay incoherent, bizarre lyrics are par for the course.I mean, it doesn't make sense... at all.

The audio quality and frequency effects the overall feeling of a tune. Something that is in stereo and clear enough where you can feel the vibes will have a positive effect. Different frequencies effect different states in your mind.
So that leaked version cannot really be commented on.

I felt brave and decided to expose myself to this horrible torture one more time. This time I actually noticed how stupid the lyrics really are. I mean, it doesn't make sense... at all.
Does that matter?

Both YKMN and AWTD have been recieving these very negative first glance(AWTD)reviews and opinions... with people saying "the song doesnt live up to the greats..." "too commercial" "not bond" etc etc..
My question is: WHAT IS NEEDED??
- Too commercial?? isnt that the idea?...(i hate this but isnt that just how it has to be and always will be?)
- Not "bond"? what exactly is bond? Has "bond" ever truly been defined?
- The greats?? What did they do right,... are they right??
I think that now that we are transitioning into this new era with CR and QS, there needs to be less of a comparison to the past, and more a glance to the future and the present with the theme songs.
There no doubt will always be comparisons to the past songs.. but i can't help but say that both YKMN and AWTD made me smile because i could hear the "new" bond.. thats what i wanted in the first place and that is exactly what audiences wanted after the last 4. I dont want to hear a "live and let die" or "nobody does it better" or Goldfinger again.. they were then.. this is now. AWTD is catchy, lively and another example of what babs and mike are doing right!
Thank you White and Keys.

Exactly, like a moonraker searching for his heart of gold, undressing a diamond, a guy that strikes like thunderball, living's in the way we die, dancing into a fire, romantically killing you with a licence right through the heart and finding goldeneye's weakness?
Um, yeah, all of those make perfect sense...

Still as instantly winning as the unwiped genitalia of a month-dead leper.
'I've heard it but you can't'?
I know. Unfair, innit? My advice is to cope.
You're better off not hearing it. I am trying to save you.
Not really worth having the site shut down for... this.

I like the lyrics. They fit in well with the story.
I hate it!
I LUV it!
Alica shud 'of' done it by herself.
Jack shud 'of' done it by himself.
It's not Bondian unuf like the old days.
It's pure Bond...and totally 'now'.
Worst Bond song evah...bring back Bassey!
Bassey is history...no going back...we neen something different!
I hope they only do an instrumental.
I can hardly wait to hear the full version in the Titles. Bring it on!
Hope Arnold doesnt use this garbage.
Hope Arnold weaves this into the score.

Maybe it is this 70's feel that reminded people of TMWTGG (both versions), but I get a Tarantino vibe, as well...
