Actually, they got me intensely excited for the film. A Bond that dresses-down on a mission, gets seriously beat-up and down-and-dirty? Awesome.I was already sold on Craig being Bond, but the first shots of him from the Madagascar scenes, looking dusty and beat up, were nothing to get stoked about.
Fair enough, but it does put the worries to rest re: can Harrison still pull the look off? He's looking good there... much younger than his 65 years.I'm going to have to see a lot more than Harrison Ford wearing a hat before I can get even vaguely excited about this.

Ah. Poor MooMoo.Time for me to eat crow. Someone in the know told me last night that this set IS for National Treasure 2.Yeah, it looks like you were right, anyway. I suppose you would know "a bit" more about this sort of thing than I do. I just thought they would have at least tried to make it a bit more well-guarded from the public and more secretive, which, evidently, isn't very easy in this day and age. What slip? They are building a set on a studio lot. That's what it looks like when you make a movie. And something of this scale takes time. You can't just throw it up the night before shooting. And you can't hide it. All you can do is...say it's for National Treasure 2.Not sure about it meself...it just seems odd to me that Spielberg and Co. would let something like this slip so easily and so soon.
I also think they are maybe trying to shoot Indy 4 all inside the U.S. So far we've heard New Haven CT and New Mexico (at least partially doubling Morocco). If this is true, they have to build a set like this outside. There's not a 007 size soundstage in Hollywood for something like this.
Although what you said about there being no 007 Stage in Hollywood for a set this big...didn't they film one or two of the Indy flicks in UK studios?
But I'm still suspicious.

IMDb has had Casino Royale stunt coordinator Gary Powell listed as the stunt coordinator for Indy 4, but I haven't seen it officially confirmed by LucasFilm/Paramount.
That's him in the Casino Royale jacket.

Now that's what I call a very nice touch.

Yeah CHUD is a good site but the writers are a little too in love with themselves and their snark but they do write entertaining stuff.

I'm surprised they are letting Ford play this with his hair completely grey. They could have colored it a bit. Not completely. Leave it salt and pepper or grey at the temples (like Connery in NSNA). It's going to be a little weird to watch an Indy with a full head of grey hair. But I'm sure it'll take about 2 minutes for me to adjust.

(Mind you, according to the "canon", in other words as established in an episode of THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES, doesn't the elderly Indy, as played by Ford in a cameo, sport a full beard and eyepatch? Seem to remember reading something like that somewhere once. Chronologically speaking, is that episode supposed to take place before or after the events of INDY 4? Not that it matters, of course, any more than it matters that Bond in DIE ANOTHER DAY looks like a 50-something Pierce Brosnan, while Bond in CASINO ROYALE looks like a 30-something Daniel Craig, but just idly curious.)

Can't remember every episode, but in the pilot Indy only had an eyepatch. No facial hair. I don't mind his hair being gray either. It's 12+ years after Crusade. But hasn't Ford sported grey (or mostly grey) hair for years now, e.g. as Jack Ryan? In any case, it'll be like a bald John McClane or a Rocky Balboa with wrinkles and a touch of flab - it'll make no difference, and will - as you say - take two minutes to adjust to, and anything else, any attempts to make the hero akin to mutton dressed as lamb, would have looked ridiculous. I think this is a very encouraging sign for INDY 4.

according to some reports I'd read, he wore the beard b/c of shooting The Fugitive at the time.

A touch OT, but I just found out that, even though it's never stated in the film, Marion was 15 when she and Indy had their relationship (he was 25).

Really?
Urr.
Anyway, I located a photo of Ford's cameo from the Young Indy Chronicles. No eyepatch, but he is indeed sporting a beard and a very natty cardigan. I think the sax he's holding is supposed to be Louis Armstrong's; I guess it's the relic he's looking for in the episode.

We're confusing two things. This bearded Indy is from one of the episodes. A Harrison Ford cameo. The OLD Indy with eyepatch is the teller of all these Young Indy tales and he use to bookend each episode, but he was cut out when Young Indy came to video. We may never see him again.15 and 25?

George Hall played Old Indy at age 93 and wore an eye patch. He appeared in the book ends from the first season of episodes but was removed from the VHS released of the edited episodes.
Indy 4 takes place in 1957.
