Fifth *and* sixth, according to Lucas.

Well that's just a plain stupid idea. This one was surprisingly good and now they'll ruin what they have done. Then again, why I am surprised ? Lucas and Speilberg love to ruin a good thing, ESPECIALLY Lucas.

Depends on what they do with it, if you ask me. I can imagine two very great sequels, but I don't think they'd do it.

And how, exactly, did Indy's dad die? I mean, he drank from the Holy Grail that gives eternal life in the last film?! I didn't need Henry Jones Sr. in this film, but he didn't have to be dead.

The Holy Grail's gift of eternal life was forfeitted when the Grail passed the seal of the temple. That was explained by the Grail Knight.

I guess I just assumed it was forfeited for the person who tried to get the Grail passed the seal -- not everyone.

I think another Indy film could work IF(pretty big if) they could get the cogs turning in the next few years. Otherwise I don't see how Ford could pull it off.

If you think about it Indy was in his 60's (I think) so his father would be at least 20 - 30 years older than him, lets say 25. So that would make Henry at least in his 80's, so the chances of him being alive are pretty slim anyway, judging by all the work he's done, i.e.. searching for the grail etc.. It would of been pretty stressful for him, so I guess he would of died in his 70's, probably of a heart attack or old age, it wasn't really specified in the movie so I cant say... but thats my view, anyway.

If that was the case, then shouldn't the grail knight have immediately died of extreme old age when it passed the seal?...

I assume he was going to die in that scene... the whole "raising the hand" moment seemed like a final farewell. But it's best not to give these movies too much thought...

You can't take the grail past the seal...or else all hell breaks loose and the temple falls apart, like it did...The price of imortality was that you couldn't pass the seal...You had to stay in that temple forever, like the grail night did. Since Henry left and walked past the seal, his imortality wore off. Don't mean to sound like a know-it-all or a smart ...

I kinda figured that one needed to drink from it more than just the one time to keep living eternally. Thus, the knight was going to die not only because the grail crossed the seal, but because he'd never be able to reach it to drink from it again in the first place.

You're right. Not healthy to overthink it.

Can they stop him? Did he require their permission to produce the various Video Games or the Young Indiana Jones series, for example?

They've always had some agreement that all three would have to agree... but I'm not sure about the legal side of things.

He did... if you watch the last few frames of that scene, he was about to. You can clearly see him close his eyes slighly and start to fall over. I just noticed myself last night.

Spielberg and Ford both have said in recent interviews they would do another Indy film if the right idea came along. Personally, I am warming to the idea more and more...

The new Indy film was ok, maybe i expected more, but it lacked something, and i still cant put my finger on it. Ho hum BIG cliche Mutt turning out to be indy's son ( saw that one coming a mile off)
Its seemed like overdosed action was the order of the day instead of clever story telling ( Ala DAD ). I do hope they dont make anymore Indy films , let this KOTCS be the final nail in Indy's coffin and let him RIP

Well, you never know... INDIANA JONES V and VI could be masterpieces, the CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE to KINGDOM's DIE ANOTHER DAY. Or they could just be KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL II and III (but I'd still enjoy that, for what it's worth).

At the very least, I have multiple ideas for Indy adventures that would be different enough from what's come before that I would love to see on the big screen.

I'm game for another sequel if--and I never thought I'd say this: IF...they replace Steven Spielberg. I lay the bulk of the blame for the Crystal Skank on him.

But you haven't seen QOS yet... maybe it will make IJ4 look like a masterpiece!!

Anyway, I think we've had enough with Indy for a while. Although KINGDOM was decent it still feels like a major disappointment as a whole and more films like that will kill the character completely. My suggestion is to wait another 10 years then recreate Indiana Jones with a new lead actor...

... and a new filmteam.

They left it too long, this film to me does not sit comfortably along the previous 3, I wonder what film some of the critics have been watching, granted it's mostly tabloids raving but the Times liked it, I'm sure they gave Iron Man 2 stars.

Iron Man was so much better Indy 4 was junk and hopefully they'll leave it alone, it may well be the BO winner of the summer but DK, Hulk, Hellboy should be infinitely better films, especially DK this is gonna compare to Indy the same way Sith compared to Begins, just a coincidence that Lucas was involved with that.

Everthing this guy touches turns to excrement please George kindly stop being involved in project and just finance them and let more talented people realise your vision, if he'd just the same thing on The prequels as he did with Empire we might have had something but instead he can't direct for  and now he's sullied Spielberg's genius with his involvement.
