After pursuing the Ark and the Holy Grail I think they're done using such famous Judeo-Christian artifacts.

The more time passes, the more I am liking Indy's newest adventure. Call me impatient, but I just want the DVD already so I can watch it to death and see how it really sits in the franchise.

Still good for a poorly reviewed film but Lucas clearly has dimminished cache.

But that's alot better than Rocky,Rambo and Diehard 4.

I've noticed an awful lot of projection regarding people's opinions of Indy 4. The film is a certified fresh pick at rottentomatoes.com, has a more than respectable IMDB score, and if you really want to the hardcore fans' opinions theraider.net has a new poll on their front page and a majority of the readers have currently rated it 4/5 stars. The only place I could get this 'poorly reviewed' notion from would be message boards.

Yup. I wouldn't expect to see the Garden of Eden, Noah's Ark, Tower of Babel, or cross of Christ kind of movies. I hope to see them go after more interesting relics.

Yes, I know what you mean, I just came back from a 3rd Viewing with my mom and my 9 year old sister, she loves it, she also loved and I quote "The Russian Lady who got attacked by monkeys". It worked for her, it worked for me... but my mother was quite dissapointed.

I could see Indy going to Iraq and the film promoting archeo-tourisim...and Sallah tags along this time.

Indiana Jones 5 v Indy Jones 5
New Indiana Jones Indy Movie Film
Script Plot Summary Synopsis Story
Screenplay Screen Play
by
George Lucas

The Indiana Jones 5 movie begins in Mongolia. It's 1959. Indiana Jones and his guides are searching for the lost burial tomb of Genghis Khan, the legendary leader of the Mongol Empire. Indy Jones eventually finds the clandestine tomb along with an immense treasure, buried with Genghis Khan, beyond what anyone would ever believe.

Unfortunately, for Indiana Jones, the Communist Chinese military has been keeping Indiana Jones under surveillance. The Chinese capture Indy Jones and seize all the contents of the final resting place of Genghis Khan. The Chinese take Indiana Jones to a place where they show him clues, which reveal a great mystery involving the alleged location of the holy cross the Romans utilized to crucify Jesus Christ.

Before Indiana Jones can fully examine the info, a group of elite British commandos raid the facility where Indy Jones is being kept. Ironically, the British military had the Chinese under surveillance. In a bold and daring rescue mission, the British commandos take Indy Jones and the clues related to the holy cross from the Chinese.

The British commandos and Indy Jones arrive in London, England. The English then explain to Indy Jones what is going on. They tell Indy Jones that British intelligence discovered the Chinese had found clues in Jerusalem regarding the holy cross of Jesus. The British explain the legend surrounding the holy cross that it can bring a golden age for Humanity or the final apocalypse.

Since Indy Jones is regarded as one of the top archaeologists in history, the British want Indy to help them find the holy cross before the Chinese find its location. To reward the British for saving him from the Chinese, Indy Jones agrees to search for the holy cross. The British assign a British commando named Nevin to accompany Indy during his travels around the world.

This new adventure first takes Indy Jones and Nevin to Jerusalem. Several clues then lead Indy to Russia, France and finally to the hidden caves of Romania where the holy cross of Jesus Christ has been kept secretly for nearly 2,000 years. Indiana Jones 5 ends with a spectacular confrontation between the British military vs. the Communist Chinese military. The tremendous supernatural powers of the holy cross are released and the fate of the planet is at stake.

A complete Indiana Jones 5 plot script summary will be revealed in the future with further details.

LIES!

Look... I can understand why people may be pissed off by the whole Alien thing, but I thought that the film itself was very entertaining.

I loved Indiana's Introduction and the whole Warehouse scene! Plus the fact that we saw the Ark was a lovely touch, and the Raiders March was immense! Not just Indys introduction and the Warhouse scene but the whole movie. It was lovely to see it back after 19 years. It never looses its touch.

No, the Ailiens didn't bother me at all...as a member on theraider.net put it:

I agree...that aspect was beyond brilliant. It was just the fact that after the first half hour, the movie held together like soggy wonder-bread and the fact that the movie was obviously geared towards children...Indy doesn't blow away a single commie or native, doesn't even hurt any animals. Then the line "their treasure was knoledge" made me gag...and before the credits rolled, I expected everyone to stop what they were doing and have Indy turn towards the camera and say "Hi, Im Harrison Ford, I hope you enjoyed to movie, but I'd like to take a miniute to talk to you about violence..." or "The most powerfull force in the universe is knoledge, and you can uncover it by R E A D I NG". Like seriously, If I see a poster in the school library with indy in it holding a book...I'll cry...That, crappy characters, monkeys and CGI is my main complaint

Here's my opinion : they should have ditched all the exploration archeologist crap, and kept the movie as an American Graffiti like fifties flick focusing on Indy trying to escape from the FBI. The first act is the best of the film. Rock'n'roll !

I picked up the 'Lost Journal of Indiana Jones' a brilliant read! Very Informative, Highly recmomended. It even sets up a sequel, "I finally found where the ark was stored after all of this time.... I may have to make a return visit... I dont know what else is in there."

Hm, interesting.

Remember this quote from Sean?

"I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun. I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say,

His name is Shawn Le Buff. :)

No wonder Connery never got involved in this, i bet he saw the script and laughed his a** off and sent it back to Lucas.

Lol, yeah I remember seeing people mock Big Tam for turning down the new Indiana Jones movie. Are they laughing now? Anyway, he probably used the script for toilet paper.

And then sent it back to Lucas.

:(

Yeah this decision negates the damage done by LXG.

Absolutely. Big Tam's stock's gone up with me. It just doesn't look good, as ole Indy says repeatedly, when the single best scene in the movie--a graveyard fight with pygmies is a pale rip off of a similar scene in The Rock's The Rundown.

I saw it opening night, and I loved it. I watched all three movies before seeing it, and I think it fits in nicely with the rest. Yes, the ending was a bit over the top, but it was still fun. It felt like an Indy movie, and that is what matters to me the most. Shia didn't bother me like I thought he would. My only complaint would be that we didn't get an Indy movie set during WWII. Them talking, very little, about the missions Indy was in durning the war really made me interested to see them. Still, a great adventure that I can't wait to own and watch over again and again

Did anyone else think that Shia's Character had more Indy moments than Indy himself? It should of been Indy fighting on that jeep, not Mutt.

It could've been worse. The could've gone the HE-MAN route and had waited until before the credits rolled to talk about missed opportunities, continuing your studies and the perils fathering children out of wedlock. LOL

I'm not mad at the CGI, it's just that the filmmakers didn't seem to pay attention to making it look real (unless that was the point). What I also missed was the byplay between Indy and his nemesis talking about the thing they were trying to obtain ("The ark is a radio to talk to God"). I just think that the script didn't have a great idea as to what the crystal skulls were and what they could truly do & it adversely affected the dialogue.

BTW, I was kinda hoping the ark would some how be re-opened & the wrath of god would be released again!

I would call this movie the giant fanboy letdown of the year. Seems that the people who got caught in the internet hype before the movie, dislike it. After having the weekend to reflect on it, I still find myself liking it (maybe even a little more). I feel like I got exactly what I paid for - a fun movie. The CGI was no worse than any other movie out there (&, trust me, I'm more critical on this than the average person out there). Hell, Lucas wanted the whole thing shot digital & Spielberg insisted on using film & won out. I'll add this movie to my DVD collection when it is released & won't think twice about it.

BTW, the classic Paramount logo in the beginning of the movie was a nice touch, too.

The reason why an Indy film never takes during World War II is because of the atrocities they commited during that time, it would have been hard to keep the atmosphere light hearted.

I would call this movie the giant fanboy letdown of the year.

I really hate fanboys of anything, they only want the same things over and over again.

I give it a middle ground rating, with a lean toward thinking it was crap.

Did anyone else think that Shia's Character had more Indy moments than Indy himself? It should of been Indy fighting on that jeep, not Mutt.

Yeah, that thought came to mind during the Jeep fight. There's a quote from George Lucas talking about doing another film where Mutt is in the hero role and Harrison Ford is in the Sean Connery/Last Crusade role, transitioning into a Mutt series. Nevermind doing that in Indy 5, it felt to me like that's what was going on in this one.

I don't want a fith film. I think Ford pulls it off at 65 but I don't he can do it 3 years later(min). The series ended nicely with Indy marrying the woman he was meant for and now he has a son to mentor...etc. A nice retirement awaits.
