Overall, I like the new covers. Definitively better than the previous set.

Okay then, this sounds great. The only disappointment for me the lack of deleted scenes on the Golden Gun dvd, but of course that could change. Hope the US releases get all the same extras.

I especially can't stand how they've put the 007 logo behind all of the titles. I didn't like that when they did it on the posters in the Brosnan era, and I especially don't like it now that they've imposed it on all of the other films.

BTW, I count 9 covers revealed (not 7), including The Living Daylights not mentioned in main pager. Or are they adding covers as we speak?

I Have a question here.
I live in Northern Ireland, and decided to import the current Bond dvd's from the USA. It was the very fisrt SE's ever released, in 3 different box sets, i think it was away back in 1999. Anyway, im hearing that the current UK editions have been cut. So will these new UE's be cut? And will someone be checking them out and putting a review up here. I dont know why to buy this new set or wait for the US release. And is there a site where we can compare the 2 different UK and USA releases?
Thanx!
Hope you can help.

Surprised we don't see a tux until Brosnan. And that image of Moore on For Your Eyes Only is from Moonraker. The pic of Moore on A View To A Kill is from Octopussy.

For quick access:
I didn't count the The Living Daylights or Die Another Day covers in this story as we had already seen those when the monster set pic was released.

Also, on the TSWLM cover, it confirms something I had noticed and even argued for years. The gun Rog is holding is clearly NOT a PPK but a Beretta 70-s. When he first confronts Jaws in the Pyramids after Jaws has killed Fekkesh, he draws his piece and I always was convinced it was that particular Beretta. The rest of the film he's clearly using his PPK, but in that one scene, it's a different piece. Either the prop guys didn't have the PPK that night or somebody screwed up.
Now, if for the cover, it was just photoshopped, why not put in a PPK? What I suspect is that the picture was a PR still taken in either Egypt or somewhere else along the way. I suspect it's also because non-firing replicas are chiefly used for such things. The blank guns are usually kept under lock and key as real firearms would until they're to be used. Bond never does fire that Beretta in the scene.
Sorry, sorry, I'm rambling, but taking this cover as vindication of my long standing theory.
OK...OK...Enough!
BOT!
The DVD's look like they are loaded to the max and my pre-order is locked and loaded!
Man, what a great week for Bond fans!

I'm very happy to see those excellent "Inside" documentaries from the last set are on these new DVDs as well (I know people have been asking about this). Now I don't need to keep the old DVDs.

For example, TMWTGG video cover had an image of Roger Moore from TSWLM.

DVD has come a long way in terms of quality given the latest and greatest compression techniques (MPEG-4). It's gonna be around for quite sometime and I assure you that whatever replaces it won't be Blu-ray or HD DVD.
It will still be DVD, thought... regular DVD will disappear just like black and white TV sets did, all the format will be backward compatible, no discussion. Whoever wins gonna be DVD (and the consumer) what with the higher quality, you can't argue.
DVD will disappear when the next big thing comes. The next big thing isn't Blu-ray or HD DVD, though. Doesn't matter if they're backward compatible. Do you realize how long it took for most people to make the switch from VHS to DVD and the differences there were far above and beyond the differences between DVD to blue laser. All the positives that HD DVD and Blu-ray have going for them are completely destroyed by the amount of DRM in the technology and the fact that the consumer base (for those interested in something like this; essentially people that own an HDTV) is now split making it twice as hard to succeed. DVD is a behemoth giant that probably still has another 10 years left in it. It's the single greatest source of income for the film industry and it's not going to just roll over and be pushed out.

I think the covers look fine. They're not great, but they're not bad. I could really care less. Roger Moore kinda looks like a doll in a couple of his though (e.g., FYEO).

Why can't they give us decent artwork for a change? Even the last set of DVDs they put out didn't have that great of artwork (made especially worse by the almost neon-like quality of the colors of the boxes), but now they've managed to make it worse. Not impressed at all.
I especially can't stand how they've put the 007 logo behind all of the titles. I didn't like that when they did it on the posters in the Brosnan era, and I especially don't like it now that they've imposed it on all of the other films.
Yeah these covers are seriously lacking. Why don't they just use the original poster art? Bah. Still, I'll get the case so I won't have to look at the covers

Hang on while I wipe the drool off my keyboard.
Okay then, this sounds great. The only disappointment for me the lack of deleted scenes on the Golden Gun dvd, but of course that could change. Hope the US releases get all the same extras.
Yeah I was hoping for the full TMWTGG duel scene/shootout on the beach. We know it exists, its in the trailer! None of the cut scenes from Moonraker either. Still, looks like we have deleted scenes for FYEO, TLD, and GE so that's pretty good.

Why don't they just use the original poster art?
Though I am an avid poster collector (I have a few hundred) and great admirer of many of the Bond one sheets, I personally do not want them as covers for the DVDs. Though captivating and nice to frame on your wall, the 007 posters are not consistent enough in style to make for a good "set" of DVDs. In classy box sets, the movies all have a consistent style to them. This makes it clear that the films "belong" together. This was successfully accomplished with the special edition DVDs and I like the art for the ultimate editions even better. I covet this slick, modern packaging for all the Bond films because it matches across the set and presents a consistent artistic view of the series as a whole. It also succeeds in keeping Bond "in the now" for casual DVD buyers, rather than having a Bond DVD with 40 year old hand painted art on the cover placed next to the latest Mission:Impossible release with contemporary art and an extravangant embossed foil slipcover. As much as I love the Bond posters, I think a DVD set featuring covers/spines of poster artwork as disparate as GF / SPY / FYEO / LTK / TND would look tacky and uncoordinated. Back when CBS/FOX owned the rights for 007 on VHS they did it this way. Seeing them all near each other on the shelf looked unprofessional. No effort was made to "unify" the releases- just slap the old poster on it and be done. No thanks, not for my tastes.
Of course, everyone has an opinion and in no way do I mean to disparage you or others with like views, dinovelvet. I respect the sentiments of those of you wishing to see the great poster art of yesteryear grace your DVDs.
As a side note, I agree with all of you who have pointed out what a joke it is that several of these "ultimate" covers feature stills of the Bond actor from a different film. Taking the Dalton image that was on the cover of the last LTK DVD and putting it on the ultimate TLD? Ridiculous! Also Rog's first film featuring a cover image of him obviously from much later- Laughable! The only things from the last set that compare to these egregious oversights are the terrible cover for OP and the misplaced still from NSNA featured in the "collectible booklet" for YOLT. A renegade still of Connery from 16 years after Twice making it into the official EON booklet? OUTRAGEOUS!

If I may point out, the LTK DVD sleeve currently features a promo shot from TLD, so it makes sense to bounce that back to the movie it belongs too

It gives me great pleasure to provide you with the most up-to-date information on the Special Features for the Ultimate Edition DVDs. Please find below the names and running times of all the special features that have been passed so far by the BBFC.
As you will no doubt notice some of the features advertised on Amazon are not present and indeed some films have no comments. This is due to the fact that the BBFC is yet to pass the particular features. The BBFC only lists the running times of the 'Inside...' features from the previous release and for this reason I have not included the running times for these features as they may be longer versions on the new DVD. Any film that is missing has no details as of today but it is my intention to update this post as and when new films and new features are added.
Enjoy...

Good comment Zencat around waiting for the offical specs. However everything listed above is actually listed on amazon.com as being included on this set. Its good to get a feel for how long each of these features advertised on amazon runs.
The Increadible World of 007 and Welcome to Mr Bond look particulary good, weighing in at 50 mins a piece.

For those interested i have gleaned some info form the BBFC website regarding the special features they have passed. While they have been passed it can't be guaranteed that they will feature in the final set but it is a good taster of what is to come. It is also encourging to see that this matches the list posted by amazon. Here is the link to my post:
