No- Aston Martin as per usual, according to Campbell. It'll be the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Alessandra, I enjoy your posts and admire the way you fight your corner, especially in a language that is not your first. But, look....

So you don't find Craig attractive - does this have to be such a huge deal, though? No one's trying to twist your arm into fancying him. I mean, we don't need to find the star(s) of a film attractive to us personally in order to enjoy it, do we? If we find them attractive, that's a bonus, but a good film can still be a good film even without stunning stars.

Yeah, yeah, I know Bond's supposed to be the man every woman wants to sleep with, and so on, but how about just accepting that Craig happens not to be a Bond whose looks you're going to be impressed by and trying to enjoy CASINO ROYALE nonetheless? You may well still find things to admire in his performance, in the story, in the action scenes, the locations, etc. Just sayin'. :)

It is my sad duty to disband the Anti Daniel Craig Brigade :)

Due to the fact that he's officially James Bnd I see no point in leading the charge aginst him. YES we all know he's the wrong man for the job but rest in the knowledge that it's not on our consciences if and or when he mucks the job up.

Is Daniel Craig the best Bond since Connery? Hell no.

What about George Lazenby? Hell No

Roger Moore then? Another Hell No

Timothy Dalton Perhaps? Better guess again.

Pierce Bronsan? Well....excluding Tomoorwo never dies and Die Another Day....

The point is that Daniel Craig (here I'm guessing) will the the first official Bond that rubbed the moviegoing public the wrong way. Take comfort in the knowledge that Eon and Sony have only themselvs to blame.

Noooo!! Disbandment! Say it isn't so! I tried to start up the anti-Broccoli brigade to stamp out all Broccolis in every supermarket in the land, but Zencat quickly closed that thread!

Surely there must be a reason for the Anti-Craig Brigade to exist, even if just to reminisce or share good times or something. Maybe a form of therapy. If we gathered enough members, we could form our own website, write our own songs, have our own conventions. We could even invite Daniel Craig along as a guest of honour to toss some tomatoes on one occasion.

The potential is endless. Don't end the brigade!!!

Same applies to Craig. Whom I find ugly and unstilish. I don't want him as Bond, and won't go see him as Bond. I'll watch the movie when t he DVD is released.

View Post

Out of interest, have you actually seen him act? In say, Layer Cake or Archangel? I find your idea that he isn't 'stylish' very strange- especially considering these roles.

View Post

I have seen Craig act -- as I posted yesterday, in the topic "Which Craig Films Are Worth Watching?"

My post was #13; yours, I believe, was #22.

However, as I wrote earlier in this topic, I am by no means attempting to denigrate Craig's acting abilities. I simply feel he is not right for the role of James Bond.

Lol. I hear ya Loomis :)
And I WOULD DEFINITELY have that kind of attitude if it was a random movie.
But not for Bond! not for the man I've been dreaming of as prince charming since I was a little girl! lol
as I said previously, they are stripping us women of our dreams even!!
and I will NOT accept that!
At this point, I'll go see a NICE action movie with say.. BRAD PITT? GEORGE CLOONEY? EVEN ROBERT REDFORD?? (like that spy thriller with robert and brad. really enjoyed it).
or the bourne identity, or superman or whatever with denzel washington or will smith! you see what I mean?
Bond must be someone I see and makes me swoon! lol :) As wendy would say, Craig is nowhere near swoonerama.
Bond is the man with style, class and good looks, like PERFECT (so ok, except he has three thousand women but hey...almost perfect!). It's prince charming. And I will not accept frog for prince charming in my favourite movie franchise! lol :)
that is all.. :)
But I WILL buy the DVD.

Another one, for Greek audiences only. CR will be released on November 17. Is this a coincidence?
This guy is almost as dissappointing as the 17N members were...

And his giggle in the press conference... It did sound like Atkinson in Four Weddings and a funeral, didn't it? No Martinis for this Bond, a pint would do.

I am a fan of Bond books first, and the films second. Never have I read a Bond book and pictured a Bond even similar to this Craig guy. My opinion is that moviemakers look at the bottomline first, and the fans second.

that's exactly what we mean when we say he isn't classy... he doesn't look suitable for a Martini.. he looks like the kind of guy who holds a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other (don't misunderstand me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this.. IT SIMPLY ISN'T BOND!!)

But Alessandra, Bond *isn't* Prince Charming. He's a ruthless :), and he may say he loves you now, please come into the hot tub, but come the beginning of the next film he'll have forgotten you ever even existed. :)

I think Bond has gone far enough with the Prince Charming stuff. If we wanted that, we'd go and watch romantic comedies with Hugh Grant. Bond's charming, all right - but he's a cold bastard beneath it all. Check out Craig's eyes on the front page of this site. This man can play a ruthless secret agent. I agree, he can't wear a suit, and for someone like me, who can tell Kiton from Brioni at a hundred paces, it takes some saying that I'll accept a Bond who is not naturally suave. But I don't really care that Craig looks like a dead man walking.

He looks like the coolest dead man walking alive.

Um. If you see what I mean.

But it's not about whether we give him a chance or not. It's about disbanding this wonderful group. We can't have that. We haven't even arranged any meetings together, any group socials. I mean, there's lots of stuff we could do. Go camping. Sing campfire songs. Do some mountain climbing. See Casino Royale together. Make some Stilton and Calliflower (not Broccoli) soup. At least let the group exist for SOMETHING!

Exactly. Believe me, I'm thrilled with Craig. But even so, I do sometimes pause and wonder: "They hired Craig - why?"

Looking at other fora (not just Bond fora) to see the world's reactions to Craig.... boy, oh boy.

Seriously, like him or not (and I do), you gotta admit that Craig is one heck of a hard sell as Bond.

I still think the best choice would have been Clive Owen, who was not available. But Craig will be great. It seems to promise that the next Bond film will be for adults.

I'm inclined to agree with you here Loomis--he's a hard sell and a definite possibilty as a one or two time Bond BUT maybe his talent will break through. It's crucial though that he shows more natural charm in the appropriate spots than Dalton did. His great voice might be the instrument that could help him accomplish that.

Sorry Alessandra, I know I don't know you personally but this just comes off a bit shallow to me. No previous actor has had the exact features, looks, class, style, etc. of 'James Bond'. Maybe Dalton has come the closest (in terms of sheer description) but if you want to get technical, we've had no Hoagy Carmichael clones with facial scars... yet. I really don't get it though? If you find Craig so repulsive why would you even bother watching the DVD? He'll look the same on TV as he will on the silver-screen. You'll end up spending $5 to rent it instead of $10 to go see it in theaters. Is that $5 difference some kind of protest?

Although Dalton had no idea how to dress at all, and his Bond clearly despised fashion. In the wonderful piece of fan-fiction Loomis is about to write, called DARKER THAN YOU, Dalton's Bond rips the piss out of Brosnan's Bond something rotten for his vanity and obsession with Super 120 wool.

yes dear. the only way to voice our protest is to not go to the box office.
dvd sales are a very minor thing to the success of a movie.
But since I have watched every single Bond, (either with mom and dad when I was little or when it came out when I was old enough), I will watch this too. On dvd. :)
And not for Craig.. but just because it's Bond. :)
I WILL watch the movie Qwerty, said this many times. but on Dvd, no theater! (unless curiosity is just about to kill me the day the movie is released lol:D)
