Here's a photo just to prove how handsome Craig can be. I think this may even be an exclusive of the new Brioni ad campaign.

The problem markets for Craig's Bond: Japan-they love Brosnan, India as well, England as well, most of Londoners rejected Craig. Amercia likes Brosnan more.

Those are big markets, there gonna have a tough time selling this new Bond me thinks.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind seeing Craig as Bond, but I expected Brosnan's 5th bond film out this fall, and new Bond in 2007, the way EON ended Brosnan's era wasn't good, the world isn't ready for a new Bond, you sense it in the press, the next Bond rumours always are big, but actually coming out can be disappointing if it's not the ideal choice.

I personally find Craig a brave choice, but it's not the time for a new bond, and he's gonna get flack for it.

Okay, there's a gazillion pages of messages after being starved, STARVED I TELL YA, of CBn all day (you poor folks), and so I can't stop and read them all.

But.

He's UGLY.

His eyes are red and they droop.

He has acne-face and no chin.

lmao Kara :) ok now guys.. and you complain about what I say??? Kara went much further than I ever did LOL. (and I'm afraid the description she makes is quite accurate :))

I wouldn't have sex with him IF HE WORE THE PPK DURING THE ACT.  :)

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!! :)
I wouldn't have sex with him, PERIOD. (but I'm sure many others would because he's an actor..)

He is a total turn-off. It works for him in movies like Road to Perdition, where he's supposed to be a turn-off, but as Bond? I think NOT.

View Post

As Bond, I think NOT too. Which is why I'm protesting they are stripping me of my dreams and of my Bond prince charming! (although there's always spy lol) :)
but he remains a fine actor :). Just doesn't look at all like Bond. :)

:) I can't believe this. How CAN YOU BE Fans of James Bond if you don't recognize, if you don't respect the actors.
Sean is not Roger. Tim is not Pierce. But ALL have been GREAT BONDS.
Now its the time for change.
Ok, you don't like the actor, okay you prefer brosnan. I don't like brosnan.
I don't see one actor and refuse him because of his BEAUTIFUL Face.
There are more things. A movie is misture of very elements.
We like GOOD Fans we are will be expecting a GOOD BOND MOVIE.
It is Brosnan, it is dalton, it DOESNT MATTER !!
Its BOND .
A big problem that the majority of people non-fans (and fans) have is :''Oh i prefer Roger'', ''Oh no, I prefer Sean.
Theres one character.
Like a human, Bond grew. He grew after Fleming, he grew with Connery, he grew in many aspects with lazenby, He grew in other aspects with Roger, then with Dalton. He Grew with Brosnan and now He will grew with craig.
C'mon the film have a great screenwriter, a good director, and a good actor too.
It will be exciting !! As a fans we can speak bad about other persons, actors and directors, But it right ? Would we like ?
OF COURSE NOT.
As fans we will give sugestions, apeals but never speaking bad.
In my opinion its time to go back to basics and i believe that Craig will be a good bond.
Please be TRUE BELIEVERS.

I think most people in this thread are prepared to give Craig a chance now he's been officially cast. But that doesn't mean we don't like to have a bit of fun and have a thread and Brigade purely for the sake of existing. Where else can you go to talk about all things Bond, and yet send up various elements of it? So don't take this thread too negatively.

A mirable answer Welshcat dear.
And Columbo..being true believers doesn't mean being acritical.
Aside from the fact this is a VERY humorous thread (I mean come on, read what Lord wrote.. it's just pure entertainment), we do like to voice our opinion. I've said many times I have the UTMOST respect for Craig as an actor, but that doesn't at all imply that I find him right for Bond.
again.. for the three thousandth time: I love Al Pacino and he's a terrific actor, far better than Craig. But I would never want to see him as Bond!! he doesn't look like it!
and neither does Craig.
this said, I don't doubt he'll try and do an excellent job in acting, but it doesn't change the fact that to me he does not look like Bond.
bond is something else to me. read: it should've been HUGH JACKMAN. or someone along that line. Certainly not Craig.
Which again doesn't mean I don't respect him as actor, but simply that he doesn't have either the aspect or the class and style of Bond.
ciao! :)

Deary me. I seem to have got into a situation with two devilishly attractive women... This Prince Charming lark is very wearing!

Of the two, I prefer Kiton. Though I think Nervesa's the one to watch.

I don't drink vodka martinis, but have a bloody Mary on me. :)

I think Daniel Craig just 'gamed' Babs and nabbed the most iconic cinematic role of the 20th century. Perhaps that's what acting is. If you don't know what I mean by 'gamed', I mean this rather Magnolia-esque stuff:

http://books.guardia...1566976,00.html

The extract at the bottom of the page, where he games Britney Spears, is classic. I think this is what Craig does, and has done. He has imagined himself so fully as James Bond that it can come across when it needs to. This man:

Or he would have done, if he'd known how to tie his tie!

oooh. as wendy would say.. FABULOUS poster. ugly guy.

man, the book stuff.. some REAL jerktalk.. lol :)
Babs today looked nothing like stylish... so I think Craig actually already made her change to be ok for him! lol The man's a devil...:)
ahahahahha seeee??? that's what happens for giving Prince Charming descriptions...
ok so you like bloody mary.. "with a LITTLE lemon and just a small bit of ice"? (now don't tell me you've never seen "when harry met sally")
tomato juice is certainly not a problem in Italy. so when are you coming over? :)

Although her mother was very beautiful, too. Looked like Sofia Loren. :)

The picture of Pacino in the tuxedo looks like Fleming's Bond to me: dark, lean, cruel, suntanned, cold, not English, immaculately dressed. Pacino was playing a totally detached and amoral killer. I don't think it's that far off, but you seem fussy. You can't even accept this guy as Bond:

Now, on a more serious note (well not too serious, let's not exaggerate!), and taking it from Lord's post, I had missed (Since I was at a wedding and was out all day) a FULL page of Corriere della Sera (Italian equivalent of the Times in England) on the new Bond.
Headline: 007, license to be Blond.
you guys guess all the rest LOL :)
the story was written by A MAN (so no girl complaining in there), and its less than flattering for Craig, (and EON and Sony.)
I really would like to translate it in full for you guys, but that needs time and I just need humour and relax at this time of the day (promise I'll do it tomorrow so you can all read for yourselves :))
Anyway the story starts citing the candidates that should've been Bond according to general public (jude Law, ewan mc gregor, hugh grant, clive owen, hugh jackman), and then goes on and says:
"After a neverending casting -which was slily transformed into a mediatic marathon of over a year and a half- the 007 lottery has been won by Daniel Craig, 37: a not first class cv, known to the international public mostly for appearing in Sylvia, biography of Sylvia Path (he was Ted Hughes, the husband of the unlucky poet played by Gwyneth Paltrow).
The new James Bond (in the remake of Casino Royale, filming will start in January 2006 in Italy, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Bahamas, it's the 21st movie of the franchise) will be Craig, ex best friend of Jude Law, now new boyfriend of Sienna Miller, former girlfriend betrayed by "jude the obscure" (who put himself into trouble seen flirt with chatty babysitter that landed on the tabloids, and was rapidly sent to hell by la bella Sienna).
The British press, not having much to say about pale Craig so far, have nicknamed him "james blond", in contrast with his predecessors Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton and Sean Connery.
(...........)
The chosen one was presented to journalists by riding the waves of the Thames aboard a Royal Navy craft, wearing a suit made of a blue lifejacket and dark eyeglasses. at first overwhelmed by emotion, he pronounced his first sentence as 007: "I'm speechless".
Then, feeling better (probably recovering from sea sickness), he managed to formulate concepts which wouldn't make a bad impression out of the lips of a Serie A striker (or maybe a striker of his beloved Liverpool squad):
"It's my turn now. Producers have chosen me, it was a long process. But I've always been optimistic".
instead of thanking the coach, he left the microphone to the director (New Zealand's Martin Campbell), who explained how the post-Brosnan Bond "will be darker, with less gadgets and less special effects."
Trouble is, yesterday's press conference in London was "crashed and burned" by a not envisaged scoop: Craig's mom, betrayed by her emotion for the career turning point of her beloved child, had already expressed to the LIverpool Daily Post the family's joy. Completely spoiling the surprise effect for producers, who hoped to unveil the face of the new Bond to the press during the para-military conference on the Thames.
If "James Blond" doesn't seem to have either the masculinity and strength of Connery or the style of Brosnan, he can at least count on the fact that Ian Fleming's described the man as having more or less his same build. height 1 mt 83 cm and 76 kilos for Fleming, while he is 1.82 and weighs 78 kilos. Both have blue eyes. ''

I have left parts out.. but trust me.. I have never read such an unflattering post press conference article on Corriere. And the fact such a serious newspaper makes complete fun of the situation is not a good sign.
Anyway. there's the big pic of Craig taht was distributed yesterday in the page.. that should help (next to it is another pic of Craig.. which definitely does NOT help). lol
:)
