Bond's been blessed with some terrific actors - but no one has come even close to filling Connery's shoes. Or will, for that matter.

I was watching the James Bond story on AMC and they commented how Pierce is like a hybrid between Connery and Moore...thus making him my favorite!
Actually I think he is more of a hybrid between Moore and Dalton. I think Craig might just come across as a hybrid between Connery and dalton (I can only hope)

Actually I think Craig is a hybrid of Connery and Hoagy Carmichael, whom Fleming described the Bond of the books as looking like. (With a blonde mother, I guess.)
Connery & Dalton are tied as my favorite, BTW.

2.Pierce - Goldeneye was pure fun, and his movies were always exciting (minus last hald of dad)
3.Moore- Definately put his own spin on the role.
4. Lazenby- Wrong hemisphere and not prepared(actor wise) though I wish they had given him more time to prove my opinion wrong
Daniel Craig- I don't see how we can vote when there hasnt even been a trailer out. I know he'll be in the top 2 though because he's a great actor.

Hey: I just noticed something else which is interesting (to me, at any rate): The title of this thread uses the English spelling of the word favourite, and this spelling is repeated in the heading of the poll. However, the question, when it is first asked in the poll, uses the American spelling, favorite. How about that, folks?
Oh, well . . . what else is there to write about at 3:20 in the morning?

1. Dalton
2. Connery
3. Moore
4. Lazenby
5. Brosnan
I'm excited for Craig and interested to see where he'll place.

But my three fave Bonds are;
Roger Moore/Sean Connery taking the first place and Brosnan taking the second place.

Anyway, my favorite Bond, as with most, is Sean Connery. He's the perfect marriage of actor and character. Although, I must say, the material didn't take full advantage of his acting skill. Imagine, for instance, if he had been in OHMSS or LTK... He would've ROCKED there.
Anyway, here's list:
1) Sean Connery
For the reasons above.
2) Timothy Dalton--Pierce Brosnan
Two extremely good Bond actors... I think, the first ones to take the role seriously after Roger Moore's 12 year tenure. And the movies they played it, were phenomenal - TLD, LTK, GE, TWINE! All great flicks, overall. And Bond in them, is especially good...
3) George Lazenby
I know, an unpopular choice, but hey, he still played the role in this one pretty great. And his scene with Tracy's death... Beautifully shot, and acted. Too bad he left immediately after.
4) Roger Moore
OK, don't get me wrong... I love Rog, and his movies are some of the most entertaining all around. But, he never seemed to take the role seriously, at times. He also took the longest to get into the character, when the other ones nailed him on their first outing.
I can't, and I won't, judge Daniel Craig, for two reasons:
1) We've only just seen the trailer, and I wasn't so impressed as to judge him for this list.
2) He's not playing the same James Bond character as the above five actors have.
Anyway, thats my list.
What do you think?

I'm appreciating Moore more and more these days, Dalton better watch out!

Yeah, that's hysterical. I feel bad for poor George.Wow, Craig already has 3 votes...he may pass Laz before the film even comes out!
Anyway, I don't think DC should even be on this poll yet. Too late, I suppose, but a new one should be made after Casino Royale is released in most of the more populous countries.
And could we limit it to EON Bonds when that happens?

The same case doesn't apply for Moore or Dalton because they are so different. This is why Moore and Dalton come off as so much popular.
This has nothing to do with my opinion of how good they are by the way.
Here are my choices.
1. Connery
2. Lazenby
3. Brosnan
4. Moore
5. Dalton
Craig isn't in there because I have yet to see him.

With the women the same,,he was the best..HARD MAN.
James Bond has to be hard with women. And Lazenby did it,,,,like Connery sometimes...not right now,,,,,,in this times,,,with Brosnan...He is not hard man..not hard man.
The best fighting scene in the History of Bond is On the Lazenby

Umm, what? I (and I'd bet most) would argue that Dalton was the closest to Connery overall. If anything, their (and maybe Lazenby's) votes are split, while the rest are split between the similar Brosnan and Moore.I think this poll is a bit misleading. Brosnan and Connery are by far the two most popular actors. But because they are so similar in personality, their votes get split up. Most fans who consider Brosnan the favorite behind Connery will still vote for Connery.

In fact, I'd wager if the poll allowed us to simply rate each actor one-by-one, Dalton would be an even more solid third, maybe even a respectable second. Notice in this thread and others how many rankings are either Connery/Dalton or Dalton/Connery. Or, look at the "least favorite Bond" poll, where Connery and Dalton have few votes and the rest split the overwhelming majority very evenly.

I like that idea. I guess this is more of a "Favorite Overall James Bond" than a "Favorite Film (or EON) James Bond". If a new poll were to be made after CR is out, I'm sure Craig will be above Laz and maybe even Brosnan.

I tend to disagree. Dalton played Bond the way Fleming wrote him, with anger and emotion. Connery and Brosnan were nonchalant, with the occasional double entendre's. Brosnan I thought just mirrored Connery's portrayal, which is why I think he's a bit overrated.

Okay, this is it. This is THE poll. Who is your favorite James Bond? I'm not asking who is the BEST Bond mind you, but who is your FAVORITE.
Pity you could not add BOB HOLENESS to make the list totally complete, but I guess those tapes are gone for now.

I completely agree. I'm stoked about the Craig's potential, but it's really saying something to name him your favorite Bond based on a few interviews and a teaser trailer.Yeah, that's hysterical. I feel bad for poor George.

Why anybody in their right mind would vote for Barry Nelson or anybody other than an Eon Bond is beyond me.
