Hi,

Odd Job here. First time poster so bear with me. My favourite James Bond in order are:

1. Sean Connery
2. Pierce Brosnan
3. Roger Moore
4. Daniel Craig
5. Timothy Dalton
6. George Lazenby

The only reason Daniel Craig is at No 4 is because he has only 1 film to his name. I expect his ranking to rise as he does more Bond movies as I thought he was terrific in 'Casino Royale'

Regards

Odd Job

Timothy Dalton, definitely. In TLD's interrogation scene and in LTK's license-revoked scene, Dalton "defines" what Bond is all about for me. Cold, detached, professional, dangerous, cunning, but not without a sense of loyalty and, most critically, humanity.

Dalton himself has stated that Bond is just a man, but a tarnished man - a distinction comes across in a variety of subtle ways over the course of Dalton's two films.

1. Timothy Dalton.
2. Daniel Craig
3. Sean Connery
4. George Lazenby
5. Roger Moore
6. Pierce Brosnan

Very true about both. Brosnan looks like Rhett Butler.

I agree with an earlier poster, from 2005 I think, that they all embody some aspect of bond. I have changed my mind from Sean at the top to DC. But it's both really. And Richard Burton as fantasy fav.

I like all the bond actors, the movies however, are another matter.

I hope you don't mind me saying. But you come across as very professional. I've read some of your reviews, and they read beautifully. And to most of your points, I agree 100%.

Tis great to have folk like you aboard. :cooltongue:

Cheers,

Isn't there a bit of a problem with this poll, in that Daniel Craig appeared later than the other seven actors, and we are not allowed to change our votes?

I still voted for Moore, I just think it's slightly unfair.

I came across this page on the LIVEJOURNAL site:

Live Journal: Idol Reflection

This site has a series of essays on many famous characters in pop culture. I noticed that one of the characters featured was Napoleon Solo from "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.". Now, how can someone take the time to write a character essay on Mr. Solo and not on James Bond?

PM one of the mods, they should be able to change it. They did it for me before.

If any mods are reading this, is it possible to start a poll that allows people to just rate each Bond actor, say on a 1 to 5 scale? That would eliminate the need for ever restarting it, and would give a more accurate indicator of what people think of them.

1) Lazenby (Shame that he only did one film)
2) Dalton (Shame that he only did two films)
3) Craig (Hope he does at least three films)
4) Connery (He set the standard in his first four films)
5) Moore (Would be higher up in my list but stayed on in the role too long)
6) Brosnan (Was he playing himself or Bond in the films? Shame about his films stories)

Roger is my favorite Bond because he seems like such a great guy on, and off the screen. He was handsome, charming and funny, and because of this he was the most ruthless, since he could switch on and off so quickly (watch him in LIVE AND LET DIE, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, especially the car kicking scene.) Plus, his Bond was just generally likeable and came off as cool, without trying too hard.

My current raking goes like this, even though I like all of the actors, because of their merits (even Lazenby):
1. Moore/Connery (tied)
2. Dalton (A damn shame he didn't do a few more films!)
3. Brosnan
4. Craig
5/6. Lazenby

1) Timothy Dalton
2) Roger Moore
3) Daniel Craig
4) Sean Connery/George Lazenby/Pierce Brosnan

Timothy Dalton will always be my favourite. He's just the most human, the most romantic and most herioc of the Bonds, and I guess the one I can relate to the most. I'm probably different from most Dalton fans in that I've never read a Bond novel before, so the similarity to Fleming's Bond has never been a factor for me, but none-the-less he's been my favourite Bond since the first time I saw him on screen.

Roger Moore has always been a firm favourite as well, despite being nearly the complete oppisite of Dalton. Craig was brilliant in his debut, and if he keeps it up in his next few movies he has a chance of knocking Moore out of the Number 2 spot.

Connery, Lazenby and Brosnan I all like, but I've never been able to choose a firm favourite out of the three. They're all good Bonds, but with nothing IMO that really makes them great.

Which films aren't you fond of, StrangeTheCat? I'm assuming later ones such as Octopussy and A View to a Kill...?

I like them all for their own traits they brought to the role.

I cant go past Pierce Brosnan. He is a nice guy, a determined activist and was a well rounded Bond.

1. Timothy Dalton
=. Daniel Craig (I'm sure that'll change)
3. Sean Connery
=. George Lazenby

5. Pierce Brosnan (So nearly got it right but too smooth)
6. Roger Moore (Just The Saint on a big budget & too old)

I feel Dalton and Craig are the closest to Fleming's Bond followed closely by Connery in his first two outings. Lazenby was really good in the one film he made. As for Moore and Brosnan, too many silly gadgets and cars. Over the top villains (IMO Jaws ruined TSWLM)and rehashed story lines. Both made one excellent film each, their first.
