With the exception of Dalton, I must say that Moore is my favorite Bond. Even though Connery is the original Bond, I feel that he could have been more suave like Moore. Even though I feel that Connery was a better spy than Moore, I find Moore to be more enjoyable to watch than Connery. Moore's Bond is the funnest Bond, so I tend to prefer watching his films more often than Connery's.
I kind of agree with this statement, even though I rank Connery as my second favorite Bond. With the exception of Dalton's films, Moore's are the Bond films that I tend to watch the most, especially FYEO and Octopussy.

You and I have something in common then, since FYEO is the only Bond movie that I can watch 10 times in a row and not begin to get tired of it. I love all of Moore's films EXCEPT TMWTGG, which I loathe. With the exception of Dalton, I must say that Moore is my favorite Bond. I'm not a fan of TMWTGG either, and I hardly ever watch it. I would tend to put Moonraker into that category too, but I do watch and enjoy it from time to time, but it certainly cannot be mistaken for a classic Bond film.

I also agree that Moore has contributed to the series more than any other actor. He revitalized the series in the 70's, creating some of the most famous scenes in film history, and also continued to hook and reel in new generations in the 80's. Unlike Connery, Moore didn't try and disown the role of Bond. I know that Connery wanted to be taken seriously as an actor, but it was wrong of him to try and take the role that made him famous for granted. Moore always kept a level head and was always a classy gentleman, even when he demanded more money. He has also continued to contribute to the Bond series over the years by speaking on the documentaries, taking on such an important role in Cubby's funeral, in addition to giving Cubby his Oscar, and never forgetting the role that made him a household name. I think that Moore is the Best Bond actor OFF screen, since he is kind, genuine, and a humanitarian of the highest order. Connery can come off as kind of an A-hole sometimes, like when he said that it's OK to beat women.

I tend to watch MR sometimes, since it does have some of the most breathtaking scenery and fantastic scores of the series. MR is probably considered a classic Bond film for many obvious reasons. I don't think that it's anywhere near as horrible as TMWTGG, but it's not as good as the other Moore outings.

I completely agree with you. Excellent post.

I actually picture George Almond's illustration of Bond as presented in Raymond Benson's James Bond Bedside Companion. That was a pretty accurate depiction of Fleming's description to me.The man I see in my head when I read the books
Yes, I am a huge literary Bond Fan
I think Tim was the closest film actor to the books, but I don't quite envision his look because of the era in which his films were made.
Sean is still my all-time fave..with the other four actors equal.

But really, I had to vote for Sean Connery, the original Bond. An equal balance of roughness, humor, suav-i-ness , and Romance.
George Lazenby was ok, but it's hard to judge on 1 film, Roger Moore at times was way too funny, Timothy Dalton was way too hard, and Pierce just flat out sucked.

When I read the 007 novels I picture Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan for some reason.

I'm putting the new one for last because we haven't seen him in a flim yet, who knows, he could turn out better than Brosnan.(For me , unlikely, we will see)

Almost tied with Dalton and Connery...
Moore is a bit too "cold" for my own taste...even though I do like him and find him very charming. Lazenby just was not my cup of tea as Bond.
so
1)Pierce Brosnan
1 1/2)(lol not really two, just a bit behind Pierce) Sean Connery-Timothy Dalton
2) Moore
3)Lazenby
4)...all the rest.

She brought a grittiness and a much harder edge to the role that has been lacking ever since. I really hope that Daniel Craig takes us back to the days of the Andress era...otherwise I fear that the franchise is in big trouble.

Of course I happen to think Dalton was a terrific Bond, so maybe this poll reflects more on the views of the fans?

No; it's just that I voted 46 times! It's a real surprise to me seeing Dalton ahead of Brosnan and Lazenby on this poll, usually based on people I've talked to they really tend to dis Dalton by far the most.

And, welcome to CBn, Con Laz Rog Tim Bros Dan 007! It's nice to meet a guy who is so good-looking, that he has seven names to prove it!
