From Russia With Love. Hands down.
Agreed, Russia is my favorite, with Thunderball at a close second.

Interestingly, on these forums I find a lot of people rate FRWL and TB a lot higher and GF a lot lower than the general public. Just an observation.

More for DAF than DN. Wouldn't have expected that!
There's alot of love for Diamonds Are Forever on CBn. What surprises me most on this poll is that From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, and Thunderball are consistently so close.

It makes sense to me as each of those could reasonably be claimed to be the "best" Sean picture but each is different from the others. FRWL is arguably the most serious spy thriller and most realistic (which always makes me feel strangely guilty that its not my favorite Sean movie, logically it should be). GF is what the non Bond obsessed general public thinks of as the classic Bond film and, although I think many CB.net denizens find it disappointing ("Bond in jail", etc.) personally if I start watching it at any point, I can't stop. TB has a very good Sean performance, off a script that while fantastic does resemble Fleming's novel, with some of Sean's best lines ("I enjoy my dancing", "some men just don't like to be taken for a ride"), great underwater action, beautiful shots, and the very interesting Fiona Volpe. Sean takes the character seriously and my major criticism is I think that some of the non-Sean portions drag a bit.
Now, if the poll showed that Bond fans think the two best movies were FRWL and DAF that would be hard to explain (unless it was that 1/2 thought it was FRWL and 1/2 thought it was DAF).

I think FRWL is an aquired taste (took me months to finally enjoy it and it was my favorite until the video game came out) and I think that's why so many people don't like it. Same with OHMSS, you have to really appreciate it (and it help[s if you have the soundtrack)! Dr. No is just to Comic booky for me, but it's still pretty good, and It's not like I hate comic bookiness (NSNA that's what I hate-minus the motorcycle chase)!

Should have been Thunderball but the final half hour of the film tails off, so there can be only one - From Russia With Love.
Tails off?! That's the one of the most exciting 1/2 hours of the bond series!
(sorry about the double post[ah wait triple post! really sorry. must have been hitting fast reply instead of edit! sry, feel free to edit this mod!])

Actually the first Bond movie I ever saw was Never Say Never Again when I was 11, I had of course no idea that this was not one of the "officials" lol.
Anyhow, although this will always be the one I saw first it is not my Connery favourite.
That title would have to go to hmmm, that's more difficult than I thought.
I guess it would have to be Thunderball even when it has its slower moments unlike GF.
This opinion my vary admittedly whenever I next watch GF or FRWL ;-)

From Russia With Love with Goldfinger a close second.
I find myself moving between the two.
Goldfinger has the slight edge for me - but when I re-watch FRWL, I just think it is so cool. So well played.
Either way FRWL and GF are, IMO, Connery at his best with Thunderball and Dr. No right behind.

I'm partial to Dr. No, but I'll go with FRWL which is easily the most sophistacated of the bond films. I think most people by this point knew Connery was Bond.
Welcome to the CommanderBond.net Forums, Iron Man.

But for me it has to be Thunderball.
Largo
The women
The locations
Villains in country pubs(and clubs)
The plot;was it ever bettered? Still as relevant,if not more so,today as then.
Connery at the top of his Bond game, same for John Barry
Terence Young
I'm not going into the flaws right now.

My personal favorite 007 film. Locations are great...bond girls are fabulous (especially Fiona Volpe). Connery at his peak as Bond. A fun ride.
2. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
Excellent 007 film with a great plot. A classic.
3. GOLDFINGER
Just below FRWL. Great performances all around.
4. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE
Great sets and locations. Loved Little Nellie.
Excellent 007 film.
5. DR. NO
Not a bad film but a bore compared to his later outings. Had a little growing to do in the part. Dr. No a decent villain.
6. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER
Connery's silliest outing. Out of shape and tired of the role. Tiffany Case is one of the worst Bond girls and Charles Gray's Blofeld is weaker than the two previous interpretations. Positives are Bambi & Thumper and Wint & Kidd.
7. NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN
I will probably NEVER watch this film again.
Fatima Blush was good though.
