Best cast hands down. In Goldfinger Connery just looks "Real Cool" , which mean he does nothing to help the plot along . His Bond spend the whole time reacting to Goldfinger's plans . It was great product placement for Aston-Martin. Who ironical want nothing to do with Bond . My how times have changed.
Right on, my friend! FRWL is clearly the best, followed closely by TB. FRWL- great plot, great acting, great direction, great score. There is nothing wrong about it at all. Goldfinger is all flash and no cash, as they say!

Easily his two best entries, good writing and Terrance Young in the directors chair.

I voted for it as well, I just never get tired of Diamonds Are Forever, too much to like about it. It actually it has three votes now, fourth place, with a bullet no doubt.

The same arguement can be made for "FRWL" . It also like Goldfinger has a "perfect" cast .Originally posted by Double-0 Six
Goldfinger - Everything you want from a Bond film in one neat little package.

How about the "wigs" from DAF and NSNA as the exceptions also. I could live with the baby blue bathtowel. It was 1964!Originally posted by Double-0 Six

180 degrees from DAF. On the heels of Dr. No, they really figured out how to get it right, after getting their feet wet. Nearly perfect film. (I do wish they would've used Smersh, but that's OK.)

Yes you are right "FRWL" is close to the perfect Bond film. The use of SMERSH , just was not that possible. Since thre film makers want to use the "larger than life Villians". And the idea of SPECTRE , a supra-national trerrorist organization was novel in 1963.Originally posted by Jriv71

Right on, Doc! I have attempted to defend DAF and it's campy aspects in other threads. This was the time of Man from Uncle & Wild Wild West.
the whole spy genre was going "over the top". Although Connery should
have gotten in shape, no one can deny DAF is highly entertaining.
OOOOOOWWWWWWW!...There goes that wisdom tooth again!

DAF was one of the movies that got me into Bond.
It is and always will be one of my faves and my favourite Connery one.
It kinda reminds me of my childhood. My mate and I used certain scenes countless times when we were kids.
Whilst I like DAD, it doesn't give me a warm feeling (you might say).

No one is saying that , they don't care for DAF . It is just the proto-type for some of the Moore action-comedy cartoons , that where to come. Second , Connery was way out of shape to convey Bond , he was ineffect on auto-pilot . Plus it was the first of the Guy Hamilton Bond Spoofs.Originally posted by Dr. Tynan

DAF was quite a good film, and Blofeld was quite funny being an American stereotype, but I found it lacking in some other qualities, such as a real story line.
The rest are all very good, and form the line between YOLT and DAF for me, probably with Goldfinger in 2nd place, and Dr No and FRWL nearer the bottom.

Charles Gray' Blofeld was not menacing enough in DAF . He was too charming and polished . Why do you place "FRWL and "Dr.No so low.Originally posted by Tehuti 004
