I really dig the fact "You Know My Name" has become one of the most revered James Bond songs of them all, especially given the heat it copped when first released.

Puts all the current whining about "Another Way To Die" into sharp perspective.

I find it an impressively even poll. The polls about preferred films aren't this even.

I voted "Live and Let Die".

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and "You Know My Name" are the unfortunate runners up.

I find it an impressively even poll. The polls about preferred films aren't this even.

What's really strange is the lack of love for Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger".

Mind you, the poll's question refers to one's favourite Bond song. Had it asked for the best Bond song, "Goldfinger" would have got my vote over "You Know My Name".

Good point. For whatever reason, 'You Know My Name' seems to have really clicked with a lot of Bond fans and remained a favourite.

I wonder if it would have gotten a better reception if the "leaked" version had been one of the other, better mixes. Maybe some of the bitterness towards its exclusion from the soundtrack has subsided, too.

Gotta go with "AVTAK". It's cheesy, and it's 80's, and it's Duran Duran, but that's why I luuuurv it.

This is a bit early, but based on the sample alone I'd be willing to rank "Another Way to Die" above:

Licence To Kill - Gladys Knight
Moonraker - Shirley Bassey
Diamonds Are Forever - Shirley Bassey
Goldeneye - Tina Turner
For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton
The World Is Not Enough - Garbage
Tomorrow Never Dies - Sheryl Crow
All Time High - Rita Coolidge
The Man With The Golden Gun - Lulu
Die Another Day - Madonna

I imagine once I hear the whole song it will overtake YOLT, TB, GF, and TLD.

I'm really getting into Another Way to Die. In the beginning, I hated it. But after a few times listening to it, it is my new favorite Bond song.

Ever since Casino Royale I've been quite addicted to "You Know My Name"... but my classic favourite has to be "From Russia With Love" - it's just such a beautiful tune!

As far as "Another Way To Die" goes, at first I was really unhappy with it, but after a few listens and after seeing it with the title credits in the film it really grew on me. Other classics such as OHMSS and "Live and Let Die" are also quite enjoyable listens... and if I listen to "Goldeneye" I can't get it out of my head for days.

My all time favorite would be "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell.
There is just so much emotion in that dynamic, smashing Bond song.

It also fits in so well with my favorite bond movie "Casino Royale".

I love Live and Let Die for the simple fact that I love Paul McCartney.
But, I also love the theme to OHMSS, The Man With the Golden Gun, and You Know My Name (from Casino Royale).

Well, mine is not exactly an official title song however, it should have been. It's Surrender, the REAL Tomorrow Never Dies. For me, it's how a Bond song should always be - Big, epic, brassy and with Shirley Bassey like singing. But if I have to pic one of the official ones, it would be Goldfinger, the song that gave us that "Bond" sound and IMO, what all Bond songs should strive to be like.

I love that song as well - I've found myself humming the opening chords a lot recently.

I originally imagined the 'singer's' identity to be James Bond, but now I think of the 'voice' as being that of M. Bond discovers her real name when breaking in to her flat and using her computer. The singer says "I will replace you", "...next in line" - lines that define the voice as that of the administrator rather than the agent.

What do you think?

I think overall, the Bond songs post Octopussy have been generally dissapointing;
The odd one stands out (Licence to Kill, You Know My Name) but overall, I think just about every one pre AVTAK is better than post (with the probabl exception of TMWTGG)

My personal faves are Goldfinger, Moonraker, YOLT, Nobody Does it Better and Diamonds Are Forever (along with "We Have All the Time in the World")
