Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems I'm the only one on the planet who thought DAD was pretty nifty. Everybody else I know hated it. I used to hate LALD, but it grew on me eventually and now I find it pretty cool. The one that grates on my nerves is TMWTGG.
I'm just glad they ditched that Dionne Warwick tune "Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang."

I personally prefer it to the Shirley Bassey version though.

Interesting. I didn't even realize there was a Bassey version. I'll have to find it and give a listen.

I agree Qwerty. In this instance at least, Warwick trumps Bassey.

Both are available on the The Best of James Bond 30th Anniversary Limited Edition 2-Disc set. I highly recommend picking this set up for the two alternate Thunderball songs, Anthony Newley's version of Goldfinger, and Julie Christie's version of You Only Live Twice (labeled a "Demo Track" on this CD).

Qwerty, do you have Doctor Zhivago on the brain?

Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey
On Her Majesty's Secret Service - John Barry Orchestra
Nobody Does It Better - Carly Simon
Moonraker - Shirley Bassey
For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton
A View to a Kill - Duran Duran
The Living Daylights - a-ha
GoldenEye - Tina Turner
Those come to mind, when I have to pick the best soundtracks from a Bond movie.

Qwerty, do you have Doctor Zhivago on the brain?I'm sure you know this fact and just mis-typed it, but the singer of the You Only Live Twice demo track is actually Julie Rogers, not Julie Christie. But you are correct that the CD is worth getting for the reasons you suggested--and also for the two radio teaser spots.
LOL. You're correct. I don't know why I always seem to confuse Rogers with Christie as her last name, but I...well, do.

I really am happy to see that this board gives such attention to the film music of these movies. Too often movie fans ignore the soundtracks. I'm a big soundtrack enthusiast, so I think it's great that this board gives the scores their proper credit and attention.

CBn is the best place around for all things James Bond! Hope you enjoy it here.

I can't stand The Man with the Golden Gun and Tomorrow Never Dies, and Goldfinger and Thunderball are a bit too bombastic for my tastes. Live and Let Die is good but overrated - it annoys me that only about a third of the song is actual lyrics, as if McCartney was lazy and coasted on the music rather than come up with some extra words. I'm not too keen either about For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, or Licence to Kill either, though they're not horrible.
I at first hated All Time High, but it's since grown on me, as has the film Octopussy itself. I think Die Anothery Day gets a bad rap - sure it's not too great and the "Sigmund Freud" part is best forgotten, but I think TMWTGG and TND are much worse.
Sorry for this long post, but I just wanted to vent my feelings about all the Bonds songs.

All Time High is a nice one, but it is a love song, and suited more to a musical - its writers are British musical stalwarts.
I like Gladys Knight's Licence to Kill - but the full version - not the highly edited song we get during the titles.

I love OHMSS but the other main titles from the Barry scored movies are excellent too. With FRWL's Matt Monroe as favorite singin'while taking a shower.
Wasn't the FRWL opening title song an instrumental? Matt Munro, sounding like a poor man's Sinatra, sings over the closing credits of this film.

Along with the James Bond theme of course.
But I voted for Diamonds Are Forever, since I like it the most out of the six.

What? What?!? Matt Monroe was no man's poor anything - as Sinatra himself was the first to say.
Has to be a toss up between YOLT or OHMSS for me. But then if k.d Lang's "Surrender" had been a title song...

Favourite themes from Sean's era for me would be "From Russia With Love" and "You Only Live Twice". And Roger's - "For Your Eyes Only" and "Nobody Does It Better".

"Live and Let Die"
"Goldfinger"
"Thunderball"
"The World is Not Enough"
"Nobody Does It Better"
But right now I think "You Know My Name" is fighting to take over the fifth spot.

UPDATE: You Know My Name - Chris Cornell added to the poll choices.
Might need to fix it or something. When I vote for it and hit the vote button. I get an error message saying I didnt click on a button.
