Looks like they're shooting on film, instead of digitally. Can't wait to see what images we'll get, when they release the teaser.
Yep, the Panavision Panaflex Millennium XL2. Both Mendes and Hoyte Van Hoytema wanted to shoot on film. I guess Mendes didn't want to do Skyfall in digital, but it was Deakins' insistence. As a huge advocate for digital filmmaking, I'm actually glad to have this one on film. Now if only it gets the same IMAX treatment as Interstellar, then I'll be happier than ever!
Was there any mention by Mendes or Van Heytema, if IMAX cameras were going to be used in SPECTRE?
I talked with another member on here that had said that the head of IMAX disclosed that it'll either use the cameras or the aspect ration. Since we're in February and filming has been ongoing since early December, I don't think we'll see any usage of IMAX camera's. It'll most likely be the aspect ratio they use and will work with IMAX crews in post-production. I did read that Mendes is planning on utilizing a special spherical lens for the major action scenes which would give a slightly similar effect than using IMAX cameras.
Shame, because I was hoping Van Hoytema would use IMAX cameras again, after his stunning work on Interstellar. Be a bigger shame if Spectre didn't get an IMAX release.
