Same as last summer. Filming pics starting to come in. No real spoilers yet but ignore if you're worried. Hopefully soon we'll get more, both from that flickr and the other sources who cropped up last year.
As to Comic-Con, SDCC website has nothing on the Who team being there. BBC America will be airing The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang back-to-back at their panel thing, SFX's panel will have Paul Cornell and Toby Whithouse, and there's some panel of people talking about doing comic adaptations of films and TV series, which includes writers of the Doctor Who comics. All of these are scheduled for today. No one from the regular Doctor Who team is anywhere listed as being present.
And nothing new on Peter McKinstry's site yet. Will keep an eye open, as he accidentally posted TPO concept art before it aired (although it was pulled a few hours later).
I've used music from The Doctor Who Proms 2010, The Eleventh Hour, The Big Bang, and the latter half of Vale Dacem. I LOVE the guitar 11th Doctors theme at the end, so make sure you watch out for it. Yes, I know that you can hear faint cheers from an audience in the Doctors theme climax, but I felt the mix itself was the best to use. So just ignore it.
That bounder Peter Bowles is in the Christmas episode, as well, apparently.
Haven't heard that one. Confirmed or just hearsay? Because hoo boy the hearsay. Last I heard the rumors say we are going to see Matthew Waterhouse as Adric's ghost, Tom Baker as the Doctor, River Song, John Simm's Master, Zoe Tapper as Death, Brian Blessed as Omega (admittedly this is an idea I could get behind), the Kroll, and something called Cyber Daleks which makes me think of a Cyberman-Dalek hybrid. And all of this on top of the rumor of Robot Yeti returning, which is really the only one that has any grounding, given that there's concept art of a Yeti on the concept artist's website.
At this point I try to ignore the rumors unless it's something that makes me go ZOMG like the Yeti concept art. Or if they announced Zygons are returning. I'm surprised they haven't done Zygons yet, actually.
If anyone hasn't heard, Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins have been confirmed for this years special. Plus, it's working title is 'Father Who'
Anyone think we'll get a sneak peak at the Christmas Special this year at Comic Con?
Yep it's a take on A CHRISTMAS CAROL with Gambon no doubt playing a Scrooge inspired figure visited by the Ghosts of Doctor Who's past, present and future.....

Peter McKinstry has denied that The Yeti will be returning stating that the art on his website was for the Doctor Who DVD Files Magazine and not the Christmas Special. Shame :-( ps I heard the Adric's Ghost story too, and had a good ol' giggle.

Aw, that's a shame indeed. I was quite hoping there would be Robot Yeti. Oh well. Maybe next year.
Filming on the Christmas special, which guest-stars singer Katherine Jenkins and acting legend Michael Gambon, finished yesterday. Filming for the new series gets under way next month.
So now we wait and see if that's true, and then we wait and see what's going on with the S6 filming.
Great. Now that is something to look forward to. I'm sure this one is going to be great. Anyone know when the soundtrack to Matt Smith's series is out for sale. I loved the music to the last season.

PS Thanks for all the updates guys.
No word yet but it could be anywhere from a few months to a year. The soundtrack for last year's specials is only being released 20 September. Don't recall when S3 & S4 came out, but I think they were relatively quick.

I've always thought about the possibility of The Specials being a full length series, so I've wrote up my idea of what I would like to see. Nothing too special, but I hope you enjoy reading.

Young children are being changed, and the Doctor doesn't have to look very far to find the cause.
5.05 - The Nightmare Child by Steven Moffat (2 of 2) As The Nightmare Child and his Army of Meanwhilles begin to invade planets in the millions, the Doctor is left helpless, and informs Sarah Jane of his inevitable fate.

With the planet frozen, and no one else in sight, The Doctor soon comes face to face with The Ice Warriors, and must uncover the shocking truth behind the premature Ice Age.
5.09 - The Warriors March by Matthew Graham (2 of 2) Christina is dead. The Doctor is captured, and the Ice Warriors are in total control. The only hope of a brighter future lies with a man and a vortex manipulator.
5.10 - The Waters of Mars by Russell T Davies In a Mars base the inhabitants are being infected by a mysterious water creature which takes over its victims. The Doctor is thrust into the middle of this catastrophe knowing a larger one is waiting around the corner.
5.11 - Love and Parchment by Russell T Davies The Time Lord Victorious ventures into Elizabethan England, 1595. 5.14/5.15 - The End of Time (Christmas and New Year Special) by Russell T Davies The Ood have given a warning to The Doctor. The Master is returning yet that is not the biggest threat. A darkness is coming which brings with it The End of Time. The end begins for the Tenth Doctor as the four knocks approach.
The final scene of A MONSTERS CALL, involves the Doctor alone in the TARDIS, beginning to hear a really sinister version of the Ood song. The words, 'It is Returning. He is Returning. They are returning.' echo through the console room spoken by the Ood Sigma. The Doctor is terrified, the console room flashes a blood red, and the cloister bell tolls. As the Doctor looks just past camera, he hears the manic laughter of the Master. We see the usual Tennant dramatic zoom face, looking terrified. The screen fades to black. and then...
Moffat has mentioned that the first half with have an earth shattering finale, something so big you can't do at the end of a season, due to it's conclusion being over a whole year away. I love the idea of a season split as well. I hope they keep doing it.
I don't know, part of me still wishes they'd return to the "40 episodes a season" thing from the early years. Thirteen just seems so slight... I had just enough time to fall in love with Amy Pond, and then she was gone. :-(

That would cost a lot of money if they didn't go back to low-budget serials (which, to be honest, I would be fine with). It would be nice, though, to have Doctor Who on just about every week from late November to mid-September. Still, a partial season in spring and a partial season in autumn doesn't sound like a bad deal. Have to wait and see how events actually pan out.
Ooh; two series of Dr Who next year. That's fun. One of 7 episodes at Easter and one of 6 in the Autumn. Interesting stuff.
Wonder if this supports what was in the Sunday Times three or four weeks ago (and which I'm surprised wasn't picked up on here).
The ST did a full page interview with Dominic Cumberbatch (on the back of Sherlock, obviously) in its "Profile" column in which it was declared Cumberbatch would be taking over from Matt Smith as The Doctor after next year's series.
Now I suspect we'd all heard that Smith had a three year/series contract, and I'm wondering whether Smith's third block hasn't been brought forward so he can indeed be away by the end of next year as the ST suggests? On to bigger things?
Clearly, Cumberbatch's success as Sherlock might make this difficult... but Moffat's news IS of a different format for next year AND the ST is usually a reliable newspaper....?
I was under the impression that Cumberbatch was going to play The Master. Plus, I'm sure Smith is signed for 5 years.
Well, I know our friend Zorin has cheekily punted the Master idea from his "sources"... So of course he "could" be right and the ST wrong.
But I really can't see Smith - or anyone else of his calibre in such a popular role - committing themselves to 5 years. Sadly, DW is a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
Well, if you look at most of the Doctor Who actors, they haven't really had much success finding roles Post-Who. If I were Smith, I'd hang on to the role for as long as possible. Smith did say that he has no intention of leaving either. He loves the role. I can easily see him committing for 5 years. Tennant committed for 4. So it is possible.

But Eccleston left after one series, of course, and has worked consistently since, though whether in higher profile work than his pre-Who career is open to debate.
Tennant "sort of" stayed for four years, but didn't complete a full fourth series but forced a weak production outfit to work around his demands (Smith's instant success has proved this wouldn't have been necessary). And, of course, he didn't fancy year five at all. Will he have post Who success? Who knows, but DT has freed himself to give it a shot...
As for the pre 2005 Who's - well, it was then only a crappy kids show, the butt of national ridicule, not the super-sexy star-making/attracting vehicle it is now (if only in TV terms) - and even then the 8 Who's always worked steadily.
So do I think Smith'll have committed himself to be here for five series? Not a chance!
