Tennant "sort of" stayed for four years, but didn't complete a full fourth series but forced a weak production outfit to work around his demands
This is not true.

Not sure I agree with that. All the WHO actors still alive are working steadily. Just because they are not in a primetime hit does not mean they are not working in solid projects. Davison has been doing SPAMALOT and a lot of TV, McCoy is a regular fixture of the regional theatre houses (as is Colin Baker) and Tom Baker does whatever nuts job he fancies. Paul McGann is still "Paul McGann", Eccleston has been John Lennon and God in his time and Tennent has a good film or two under his belt despite a US comedy show not working out and is still a draw for any casting bod.Well, if you look at most of the Doctor Who actors, they haven't really had much success finding roles Post-Who.

Davison's probably the most successful of them all: he's had loads of work, including quite a few series which he starred in after Dr Who (top of my head: Last Detective, Campion, the celebrated Peculiar Practice, that sitcom thing on BBC2 last year or so...) and Eccleston is probably his closest rival for the title of successful post-Who Doctor.

Those shots aren't from Doctor Who, though. They're from a drama about Christopher Isherwood that Smith's starring in.Matt Smith!
With a different tie!
And a wide-brimmed hat!
And Nazis!

Well... that wasn't mentioned, was it? Pardon me if I don't stop to conflate the two without context...Those shots aren't from Doctor Who, though. They're from a drama about Christopher Isherwood that Smith's starring in.

Let's hope this doesn't go the way of The Two Doctors and get relocated to Seville, Spain...From Matt Smiths facebook fan page..
"The BBC announced today that season six of Doctor Who will open with a spectacular two-parter set in the U.S. In the special two-parter co-produced with BBC America, key scenes will be filmed in Utah for a story set in the late '60s in which the Doctor, Amy and Rory find themselves on a secret summons that takes them on an adventure from the desert in Utah - right to the Oval Office itself."

THE DOCTOR leans on the console. Total silence. A good 10
seconds of silence. AMY doesn’t know what to say. She’s
silently crying. THE DOCTOR stares at the console.
Mourning the life he’s about to give up. THE DOCTOR looks
up. He’s smiling again.
THE DOCTOR: One last trip.
He limps around the console and flicks a few buttons.
EXT: Street on unnamed alien planet.
The sky is a dark purple. The grass is red. Some children
run past, playing. We slowly zoom into a House. It has a
blue door. With four panels of frosted glass.
Knock, Knock, Knock.
RIVER SONG opens the door and walks out. She’s dressed in
a long fur coat. A man walks up the drive way, and hands her a newspaper. RIVER thanks the man as he walks off down the street. She turns to go indoors, and stops dead in her tracks. She’s seen something. She can’t have? She turns around to see...
THE DOCTOR standing in a new suit. He looks pale. He
hasn’t got long. RIVER knows it’s time. THE DOCTOR head-
points to the newspaper. River opens it. She doesn’t want
to look away. She has too. She must. She looks down at the
paper. The front page is blank. Except for the writing on
the centre of the page. “Goodbye Sweetie.”
RIVER smiles to herself. A sad smile. She looks up. Her
face changes. The Doctor is gone.
We cut to THE DOCTOR limping to the TARDIS. He looks so
weak. AMY helps him inside, and shuts the door. A man so
young, but yet so old. So wise.
INT: TARDIS – Night.
THE DOCTOR and AMY in the TARDIS. THE DOCTOR is leaning against the console. AMY is silent. In shock.
THE DOCTOR: Oi, Pond.
AMY looks up, her eyes filling with tears.
THE DOCTOR: (CONTD) What you crying for? It’s all over now. No doubt The Masters a billion light years away. Oh come on Pond! No need to cry about it. (He jokes)
AMY: Doctor, please.
THE DOCTOR: What was one of the very first things I told you? Do you remember? (Amy is silent) I told you to believe. Believe in everything. Believe in yourself, believe in me. You need to trust me Amelia.
AMY: I trust you more than anything else in the world.
THE DOCTOR gives a slight chuckle. His smile fades as
He is thrust back, a cold blue energy blasting him back
away from the TARDIS console. AMY screams and rushes to
his aid.
AMY: Doctor!? What’s happening?
THE DOCTOR: Time Lords… aren’t like regular humans. We may look the same physically, but our life cycle is incredibly different to yours…
BLAST. The Doctor screams again. His hands gripping onto
the console. AMY rushes to him. THE DOCTOR pushes her
back.
THE DOCTOR: (CONTD) ….We have more than one life. We can change our face, our personality. It’s.. It’s called Regeneration.
THE DOCTOR falls to his knees. He gasps. An ice blue
glow spirals out of his mouth, it angelically wraps
itself around his head, then disappears.
AMY is shocked. THE DOCTOR notices this, and gives a
faint chuckle.
THE DOCTOR: Pre-Regenerative Energy. Nothing that can’t be helped. (beat) Ohhhh. Oh Amy Pond. The girl who waited. The girl who travelled through time and space. Who saw the stars and it’s wonders within. Stuck in an old Blue Box, with a dying man.
AMY: You’re, you’re dying…?
THE DOCTOR: Of course I am. (beat) A friend once told me something, and old and wise friend. Sarah Jane, she was called. Sarah Jane Smith. “Everything has it’s time. And Everything ends.”
AMY: Is there nothing I can do?
THE DOCTOR: No.
THE DOCTOR gracefully pulls himself up to his feet. The
New Doctors theme playing ever so softly in the
background. Only we can hear it. It’s a mournful variation. Like Vale Decem.
AMY: How long have you got?
THE DOCTOR: Well judging by the sheer force of that energy I’ll say about 5 minutes.
AMY: But.. but you said you can change your face?
THE DOCTOR: I know I did. I’ll become a totally different person. That’s good in a way. It lets me start a fresh. Broaden my horizons! Look at things with new eyes. (beat) Do you remember when we first met, Amelia?
AMY: You crashed in my back garden.
THE DOCTOR: Do you even wonder why I crashed in your back garden? How it actually happened? (beat) I was regenerating. (beat)You were the first person I saw with these eyes. A little girl, in her dressing gown. Praying to Father Christmas to get her wall fixed.
THE DOCTOR looks down at his hand. The ice blue energy
spirals around his fingers. THE DOCTOR gives a faint
smile.
THE DOCTOR: It’s starting.
AMY is in shock. Tears are streaming down her face.
THE DOCTOR: What did I say about crying? It ruins your features. Makes you look ever so wrinkled.
AMY lets out a timid laugh. She’s hurting so much. Her
best friend. Leaving for good. She leans forward and hugs
THE DOCTOR. He hugs her back. Holding her in his arms.
AMY: Thank you.
THE DOCTOR: What for?
AMY: You showed me time and space. Planets and stars. What can I not thank you for?
THE DOCTOR laughs. A genuine laugh. He wipes the tears
from Amy’s cheek. She buries herself in his hand. Holding
it ever so gently. She knows it’s time. AMY kisses his
hand, and steps away. So hurt and afraid.
THE DOCTOR smiles to her, reassuringly. It’s all okay. He
starts to laugh.
THE DOCTOR: Stick around, Pond.
The Glow appears again, this time around his head. He’s
ready. It’s time. AMY smiles, a sad smile. THE DOCTOR
laughs, so warmly. The glow becomes more and more
intense. He lifts his arm to his face. Amazed at the
sight. He looks at AMY, one final time. He mouths
“Geronimo.”, He closes his eyes, and tilts his head back.
His features are completely engulfed.
THE DOCTOR begins his regeneration. Streams of blue
energy flow out of his arms and head. AMY covers her
face, shielding herself from the light. We cut back to
THE DOCTOR. 11’s features begin to slowly disappear, a
new face is forming. Something new. Something fresh.
The New Man.

Sylvester McCoy reportedly offered The Hobbit role
Simon Brew
Finally! Former Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy is set to go to Middle Earth, as he bags a role in Peter Jackson’s upcoming films of The Hobbit…
Published on Oct 25, 2010
Now, here's some fine news to start the week. Over at the Doctor Who News Page at Gallifrey Base, the fine folks there are reporting that Sylvester McCoy has been offered a role in Peter Jackson's upcoming two films of The Hobbit.
McCoy has confirmed to fans attending the Armageddon Expo, which took place in Auckland, that he had been cast as Radagast The Brown in the new films.
For McCoy, this is finally a chance to pay a visit to Middle Earth, after he came extremely close to doing so in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings trilogy of films. McCoy was down to the last two for the role of Bilbo Baggins in the films, before the part went to Ian Holm.
The news hasn't yet been officially confirmed, but expect it to be in due course. Hopefully, too, David Tennant may snag a role as well...
