I think that it encouraging that the creature looks real and all instead of relying on CGI to do the work. I love that Tatooine is being used again. The first episode of both prequel and origin started with Tatooine and now this. I guess it a big part of star war universe

I'll always enjoy going back to Tatooine - can't wait, and brilliant set design from the few glimpses we've seen.

I wonder if it is just some type of space port or if it could even be a pod race.

There looks to be a pod engine in one of the backgrounds, I thought that too. I don't think JJ will want to focus another CGI created segment like the pod-race was, as that was really just a flash visual with no REAL point for how long it was.

I do wonder what it will be though...spaceport or some market place.

I like that there will be more women in the cast. It makes it cooler for me to see that. I also really like that they are using less CGI. I think that it's going back to what Star Wars the original trilogy was.

WOO HOO!! Lookin' great!

Interesting to note how poor the security seems to be around the set of Episode VII that it allows so many leaked photos..

Agreed on both counts. It's reassuring to see that they're relying more on practical effects, physical models, and creatures.

Indeed.  I really hope that they tighten the security a bit.  Otherwise it makes all of the stories about how tight the security was regarding the script seem unnecessarily over-the-top.

I'm wondering if this is some type of PR move. I mean why is just TMZ getting this stuff? Could they be trying to reach out to a new audience?

If its a leak, wouldn't someone lose their job over this?

If it turns out there is a podrace I don't think it would be like in EI but perhaps people just arriving after a race etc.

TMZ is a paparazzi black hole.  Everything they get is the result of paying off (cheaply) some people who work at the fringe of a production.  They won´t get the real interesting info.  And it´s probably a wise move by Disney PR to let TMZ have this to satisfy them.

I'm SO impressed with how slimmed down and into shape Mark Hamill has gotten for Star Wars.. Just a few years ago, he was seriously overweight and just looking awful! I think we're going to have an older and wiser Luke Skywalker, but one who is still fit and can bring it with a lightsaber.

there was so much being made the other day about how there's real sets being built and all.  The Prequels had real sets too, particularly in the Tatooine scenes in The Phantom Menace. I saw some photos a while back of all the stuff that was built for real for the prequels and was really surprised. And it's funny because people act like there was way too much CGI in them. Well hey, how much CGI do you think The Avengers had?

Harrison Ford crushed on Star Wars set: Han Solo star airlifted to hospital

Jun 12, 2014 19:44 By Tom Pettifor, Mark Jefferies

http://www.mirror.co...ar-wars-3682600

Star Wars actor Harrison Ford was airlifted to hospital today after he was crushed on the set of the new movie.

The 71-year-old Hollywood star was at Pinewood studios in Buckinghamshire when a hydraulic door fell down and hit him as he began work on Star Wars: Episode VII.

The Han Solo actor, who also played Indiana Jones, fell to the ground in agony and after medics assessed him on the M Stage at the studios close to spaceship the Millennium Falcon, he was taken by stretcher onto a helicopter for further treatment.

Ford was taken by air ambulance to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford with a suspected fracture in his ankle. It is understood he has no major chest injuries but is awaiting results of further tests.

The NHS hospital has a trauma unit that specialises in fracture clinics with dedicated and purpose-designed buildings.

The building also provides facilities for radiological investigation and therapy treatment for all trauma patients.

Tonight it was unclear how long he will be unable to film for, but his filming schedule will be ripped up and there will be concerns from some fans this could delay the movie.

The set of Stars Wars will also be re-checked for safety.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “We were called to Pinewood studios at 5.05pm after reports of a 71-year-old man being injured by a garage door.”

The Health And Safety Executive has launched an investigation into the incident.

An HSE spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of an incident at Pinewood studios and are making initial enquiries.”

Ford could be entitled to claim money on the film’s insurance if the door was found to be at fault.

A spokesman for the film said: “Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.”

The spokesman also insisted he did not have an injury to his chest.

Star Wars: Episode VII began filming in mid-May when Director JJ Abrams’ company Bad Robot tweeted a picture of the Episode VII clapper board with the message “#dayone” from Abu Dhabi.

The film will be the first Star Wars title released by Disney, after creator George Lucas sold the rights to the franchise in 2012.

It will also see the return of the three principal characters from the original trilogy - Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

Ford has been lined up for more stunts with talks of a Fifth Indiana Jones movie, although critics say he is now too old for the character.

But the action movie star said he would play Indiana Jones once again “in a New York minute”.

He told Graham Norton last year: “I don’t think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart,” he said.

“I’m old enough that we don’t need [Sean] Connery anymore – I’m old enough to play my own father.”

F******* bull**** headline. I mean my heart sank when I read it and all it is is an ankle injury. I'm glad he wasn't run over by a steamroller.

I hope he will be well soon.

I find it very frustrating that so many people joke about this in relation to Ford´s age.  Young people break their ankles all the time.

This is why I hate all Media at most times. Why do they have to manipulate, twist and just guess at news to make headlines and money?

I highly doubt he was "crushed" by a "garage door" or anything.

How many people of all ages hurt their ankle? Exactly, too many to mention.

This coverage is ridiculous and I know Ford will be back in action sooner than we think.

The only way to stop the media from creating all of these over-sensational stories is to stop clicking on them.  They're driven by the number of views these articles get, so if we stop clicking on articles on sites that resort to this kind of "journalism" (which is sad to say most of them nowadays), then they'll just continue.

It´s either blown out of proportion - or played down.

If it´s true that his ankle is broken it will be a massive blow to scheduling (if - and it seems like it - Han Solo features a lot in this film).

Apart from that I really wonder how it can happen that a set is so unsafe on a production like that.

That's how everything is in the media these days. It's either a huge deal or nothing at all. Sadly, it seems the days of the news media reporting what is actually going on rather than trying to spin every single news story into either a conservative or liberal direction are gone. Everything is a huge deal to one side and not much to the other and vice versa.

As for Harrison Ford, I doubt the set was all that unsafe. I would imagine that the most likely thing that happened was he just happened to step awkwardly on something and that caused the injury. While I'm certainly not the biggest J.J. Abrams fan out there, the man is a professional and I very seriously doubt he would provide his actors and crew with an unsafe working environment.

Looper's Rian Johnson to Write and DirectStar Wars: Episode VIII

June 20, 2014 03:30 PM ET

Rian Johnson, who directed Brick and Looper, has signed on to write and directStar Wars: Episode VIII, sources tell The Wrap. Johnson will also reportedly write the treatment for the ninth movie, but will not direct it.

True Blood's craziest moments

Though Lucasfilm hasn't made it official yet, Johnson cryptically tweeted a clip from The Right Stuff in which Scott Glenn's character prays: "Dear lord, please don't let me f--- up."

Johnson isn't the only young director to get a shot at helming a Star Wars installment. Disney and Lucasfilm hired Godzilla's Gareth Edwards and Chronicle's Josh Trank to direct spin-off films.

In addition to Brick and Looper, Johnson has directed three episodes of Breaking Bad, including the seminal "Ozymandias" last season.
