I think he needs an older woman since he comes across as more mature.

Well, he already had Judi Dench three times in row :D

In terms of girls, I would go for a Latino : Eva Mendez or Rosario Dawson. Both sexy and strong women.

LOL.

Great choices :) Now Dench is sadly gone, we could use a new British love interest or adversary... Rachel Weisz, anyone?

She was great in DEXTER, too, IMO - but maybe she will be confined to TV roles, not breaking into the big screen league.

Personally, I don´t know how her chemistry with Craig would work.  I think he needs an older woman since he comes across as more mature.

The TV roles have pretty much dried up as well and I wonder if the fact that her character on DEXTER is so wildly unpopular with the fans of that show will hurt any future TV opportunities.  Needless to say, as much as I'd love to see them cast her in a Bond film, it's not going to happen.

Really, she was unpopular?  I thought her character was a welcome addition to the show - and that she played that part very well and different from her CHUCK persona.

Ah, well - I guess she is will find another great part on a TV show.  She´s too talented to drop off the grid.

At least every Bond, bar Dalton and Lazenby have done it, I'd love to see Craig in uniform.

I can't really speak as an expert on her tenure on DEXTER, as I still haven't seen any of it yet (I hate watching serialized shows like this out of order, so I need to catch seasons 5 and 6 before starting on 7), but I recall reading on a couple of different sites where Strahovski was being discussed that there was quite a bit of vitriol being directed her way by the hardcore DEXTER fans.  I remember actually seeing some of that firsthand on IMDb as well, but I can't really put a whole lot of stock in that seeing as how it is, well, IMDb.

Now, it's certainly possible that those feelings changed as the season went on.  I just remember that it wasn't quite the universally hailed casting choice that one would have thought it would have been.

Regardless, though, I think that she'd be a big asset to a Bond film.  I would imagine that she could probably get Timothy Dalton to put in a good word for her at the EON offices, should she ever get a chance at an audition.

As long as we're speaking of villains, I'd love someone who Craig could fight. Sure Bond fought Greene in QoS, but that was clearly a one-sided fight.

That certainly would be nice to see in Bond 24.  I doubt we'll actually see such a villain since it doesn't really fit the current direction that EON seems to want to take the franchise, but it would still be nice to see nonetheless.

That's what henchmen are for.

The only problem with that is that EON hasn't used the henchmen in such a fashion since GoldenEye.  There's been one lame henchman after another since Xenia, with the two "henchmen" in the Craig films being among the weakest henchmen in the history of cinema (not hyperbole at all, I don't think, as Kratt and Elvis literally do nothing nor do they even speak).

There also needs to be some variety in the types of villains.  Bond needs to face a villain who can get in there and mix it up with him physically, rather than sitting behind a desk directing traffic.  We've had computer hackers, politicians, bankers, aristocrats, heiresses, and media barons as the last several villains, none of which were realistically capable of even going toe-to-toe with Bond in physical combat. Trevelyan and Sanchez break that mold when looking back at the series, but from there you'd have to go all the way back to perhaps Telly Savalas' Blofeld to find another such villain.  At least for the sake of variety, they need to give Bond a villain that could actually post a serious threat to him by doing more than simply pressing a button or waving his hand and having someone else go after Bond.

I would love to see a villain who can physically match bond  but as the last was a dark bond as it were. I think we will get another foundation stone in the 007 world the crazy genius with a 10 foot  henchman.

Yep. Somehow a remake of TMWTGG. And this would be a damned good idea !

And I would cast Viggo Mortensen as Scaramanga. Yeah !

I'd be fine with it. I really do think it would be a big missed opportunity for EON to not use her. I see her as a great villainess in the vain of Fiona Volpe or Xenia Onatopp. I also really like her on Chuck. She plays Hannah McKay very well and is both likeable and scary at the same time. Much in the way Bardem is as Silva.

The best thing about TMWTGG is the brilliant way it positions Bond and Scaramanga to be essentially the same as each other (even in physical appearance), with only their final confrontation revealing what separates them - and that premise seems right up the Craig era's alley. I'd love to see it done again, properly, without the awful comedy/plot holes/sexism of TMWTGG, in Bond 24 or 25.

Unfortunately, they could never get someone as great as Christopher Lee. Craig's Bond needs an intelligent adversary (Le Chiffre/Silva style) AND someone he can go toe-to-toe with. I can't imagine who'll they'll get!

I don't want anything from the older films reused in a way that would suggest Craig's Bond is in deed a reboot. I think they should stay away of that even if they used years and dates in SF or showed Bond's first kills and mission in CR. I still want to believe their all the same Bond in one way or another adjusting to the times. Reusing old material is just a step backward IMO.

I wouldn't mind if they brought back Quantum cause they have already started that thread in QOS and or the return of Specter even running Quantum, that's 2 Bond films right there.

I like the idea of a Bond girl returning and not seeming so disposable which is why I hope the woman from QOS will return but don't reboot Sylvia Trench and if so continue the story rather then 're-imagine' it.

Bring back Penelope Smallbone when Naomi Harris gets older how about?

Bah, they already did it so many times. TSPWLM, Moonraker, DAD, just to name a few, they reused so much from previous movies.

That is true. I'm still not sure whether I believe that CR, QoS and SF are actually prequels as opposed to a new series. Honestly, if done right, I wouldn't mind remakes of some of the older films. TMWTGG could get a better treatment. A modern day Goldfinger could be interesting and I wouldn't mind Craig's Bond tackling the OHMSS storyline.

TMWTGG and OHMSS really, really suit Craig's Bond and could be awesome.

But I wouldn't want them to touch OHMSS because it's too dear to my heart.

I wouldn't say that actual remakes are necessary, but I really want to see the return of Blofeld and Spectre.  Blofeld is Bond's Joker/Moriarty and I really want to see a great new interpretation of him, especially from Logan and Mendes who have read the Fleming novels and since Logan seems to be a big fan of the character and wants him to come back.  He was never really done right in the Connery/Lazenby years so why not let this kinda be a real reboot so we can get some truly great Blofeld interpretation/story?

I am in complete agreement with this approach.  You could easily bring back both Blofeld and Tracy without doing remakes of the old films. Use the characters and some of the storylines from the novels as inspiration to develop something new. If they are to bring back Blofeld and Tracy I would hope it would be a 2 picture arc - perhaps Blofeld only appears towards the end of 24 and Tracy is a minor character where we witness an emerging relationship (don't let it get in the way of the womanizing... at least not right away).  Bond 25 could be the payoff and as I said in another thread, I think you could have death of Blofeld dealt with before Bond is aware that Tracy has been murdered so not to make for another revenge based movie. But if they do this, I hope for the love of God they get the same actors for 2 movies!

On SPECTRE, I actually prefer a modern organization that modelled after SPECTRE but using a different name like Quantum .  I must admit, SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion seems a little dated and a bit camp as the name of the organization.  To each his/her own.

You have a point but it would be so nice if the Craig era could do that story justice.  If they don't do it for Craig, perhaps the next Bond could begin with a modern day adaptation of the Blofeld trilogy (though it doesn't need to extend 3 films). My preference would be to do the Tracy story with Craig but I see your point.

Cheers

I agree that they need to do the Tracy storyline.  I wouldn't necessarily put it within the confines of a remake of ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, but her storyline from that material needs to be retold, so long as EON is committed to doing a follow up to it so that the story isn't just left hanging like it was back in 1969.

Nice shots but the combination of Nolan and Fincher is extra grim.
