As 007 films have always depicted the current world situation....
Why not have 007 chase a fanatical middle eastern bent on world domination.
The symbolism would directly apply.
Just a thought.
Seriously? And have the film become a media controversy over its "Islamophobia"? It will be a long time before EON goes anywhere near that sort of thing. Excesses like the detainee program have made the media very sensitive to negative portrayals of the Arab world and Islamic peoples in film and television.

Ideally I'd like to see Mendes actually use the locations that end up being featured in BOND 24 more effectively and/or extensively. There were some great locations in SKYFALL that could have been showcased much better, most notably Shanghai and Macau.

A henchman that is Bond's equal who he can have a big hand to hand combat fight at the end. Someone like Red Grant ( A proper actor too just like Shaw). Maybe someone who looks like Dalton/Brosnan/Connery Bond would be a nice wink.
A villainess Bond Girl would be nice.
More of Whishaw's Q in the action, build on that friendship between him and Bond.
Bond getting the girl in the end and the Gunbarrell sequence (just to shut up the moaners)
Casting Micheal Fassbender as the main villian . Seen him and Craig on the scene would be worth the price alone.
Get Alex Turner to write the Bond theme. How many song's he's written that sound like Bond themes is crazy.

It'd be interesting to see the bulldog given to Bond by M in Skyfall again, maybe we could see his flat as well and that's where Bond has the bulldog.

Good idea. The bulldog would be a nice touch IMO.

Maybe if Bond smashes it.

Now why would he do such a thing.

I always thought that bulldog was a dumb throwaway motif, that really didn't hold as much weight as it could have seeing as it was only in one film. Now if the bulldog were seen in Casino and Quantum it would be a different story, but as it was only in Skyfall, I thought it was pretty useless.
Posted 15 July 2013 - 09:44 AM
Yeah, but Craig's line was so much fun!
Posted 15 July 2013 - 10:39 AM
Yeah, in an ideal world the bulldog would have been there in CR and QoS, but it was so well done in SF I can forgive it

I'd like to see Jack in Bond 24 on Bond's desk at MI6, or indeed, at his flat. For two reasons. It's a instant visual reference to Skyfall and M without a single word having to be uttered. And I got one last Christmas. It'd be cool to see it in a movie again.

Indeed. One of my favourite parts of the Fleming books is how each novel tends to focus around a single foreign location and the book is almost a travelogue for that location. As a result, the location becomes a character of its own. I think Skyfall's focus on London and the UK at the expense of Shanghai and Macau had a similar feeling. However, it would be great next time if they devote that much emphasis to a single foreign location instead.

I'd agree with that. I think we've only really gotten 4 maybe 5 films that have done that: Skyfall (UK), You Only Live Twice (Japan), Dr. No (Jamaica), From Russia with Love (Istanbul) and maybe Live and Let Die (New Orleans/Jamaica although that one is a stretch). I'd love to see a film set exclusively in Australia or Brazil. Moonraker did not use Rio/the Amazon well and I think Bond could definitely do better with that. LTK used Mexico well even if they called it something else. The Shanghai/Macau scenes were very iconic and beautifully shot (Roger Deakins should have one for best cinematography) and were just completely underutilized. I hope that if Bond were to ever return there or Tokyo that they story involves more than just a small handful of scenes.

A blonde Bond girl. Seriously, they got to be very scarce. After Maryam d'Abo in 1987's THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, it would be 15 years before we'd see another major part for a blonde Bond girl (there were the small roles of the Danish tutor and MI6 physician in Brosnan's middle two), Miranda Frost in DIE ANOTHER DAY. Between 2002 and the next film is another 13 years, and that's IF they use a blonde in the next one.
For some reason, I often thought of Diane Kruger: classical beauty, European, has landed some acclaim, including a SAG nomination for "Inglourious Basterds", but never ascended to the stardom that would put her out of their league. She'll be 38 when the next one shoots, 39 when it's released, but still looks the part.
Does anyone who agrees with the above have any other blonde suggestions?
Dave

If we're talking blondes, Yvonne Strahovski all the way.

I would love Diane Kruger as a Bond girl and think she's definitely got the acting chops to gel with Craig.
But I assume they're avoiding blondes for Craig's tenure simply because he himself is blond. Not that there's any reason a blond Bond wouldn't go for a blonde Bond girl, but I suspect EON feels the dark aesthetic of the new Bonds combined with Craig's locks, favours dark haired female leads.

If EON is going to cast a blond actress for BOND 24 (and I hope that they do), my top choice would definitely be Yvonne Strahovski. She's more than capable of handling the action elements of the film and is a very good actress as well. Diane Kruger wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Personally, I would love to see something that never happened in any Bond : suspens.
But, given the character, I guess, this is probaly impossible.
Posted 16 July 2013 - 12:51 PM
I disagree. There has been lots of suspense in the Bond movies. Of course, we know that the hero can´t die. But that´s also the case in many other movies full of suspense.
Posted 16 July 2013 - 01:07 PM
Speaking of suspense, I really really would love a classic bit of espionage suspense like the photocopier scene in OHMSS. You know, Bond searches the/a villain's office at night when the henchman makes a sudden return to pick up their keys, etc. It's not a cliché, it's a genre staple
Also - and I'm not sure if Craig's Bond would take this direction - I'd love to have a classic 'Bond defuses the bomb' sequence like GF or TSWLM.
Huge tension and excitement doesn't require lots of explosions, fast cuts and violence - just the calm, well-paced threat of it.

- Gun-barrel at the beginning
- A boat chase at some point
- Fiennes as the traditional (in office) M
- Villainess (let's see how Bond deals with his first female kill as all he has done is inadvertently cause their death.)
- Quantum to return
- 3 Bond Girls (all of which have more than 5 minutes on screen cause I don't count Turkish girl as a Bond girl.)
- A great villain

Definitely Yvonne Strahovski. I think if she's not cast in a Bond film, it would be a huge missed opportunity like not having Claudia Cardinale in a Bond film in 60s. I wouldn't mind Diane Kruger either.

Sadly, I think that Strahovski is going to join that list of missed opportunities with regards to the Bond franchise. If this were the 90s, she'd have a chance, but her resume isn't nearly highbrow enough to catch Mendes' attention. KILLER ELITE bombed at the box office and her first turn as a leading lady in a US film (I, FRANKENSTEIN) has already been delayed multiple times and has now been relegated to the cinematic wasteland of January.

She was great in DEXTER, too, IMO - but maybe she will be confined to TV roles, not breaking into the big screen league.
Personally, I don´t know how her chemistry with Craig would work. I think he needs an older woman since he comes across as more mature.

Well, he already had Judi Dench three times in row
In terms of girls, I would go for a Latino : Eva Mendez or Rosario Dawson. Both sexy and strong women.
