Another Godzilla...

Wasn´t PACIFIC RIM enough? I´ll stick with JURASSIC WORLD (which can only turn out disappointing as well since it can only be repeating the same stuff).

Pacific Rim was simply amazing. I'm looking forward to Godzilla.

Yeah I'm sort of iffy with 'Jurassic World', only because of the what new elements can they add- REALLY, to sell this in the age of major CGI and epic monster movies?

The first one - simply a benchmark in film-making and SFX. Even the second one had unique elements and that iconic dinosaur story thread. The third was entertaining but gave us nothing new, nothing to challenge rivals or develop the story or characters.

I dare say Sam Neill won't return as Alan Grant except maybe some odd cameo role? It'll take a lot to really capture the imagination of audiences again and give them something special for a 'Jurassic World' idea to really win big.

But again, the use of dinosaurs is still novel to the 'JP' series so I hope they really give us something fantastic!

Certainly teases the star of the show!

-J.J. Abrams Discusses The Future Of The STAR TREK Franchise!

It’s a little bittersweet. But, I will say that I’m going to be producing the movie. Whomever it is that directs the film will be someone we all know is going to keep the cast and crew in good hands. I feel very lucky to have been part of it, and it definitely feels like the right time to let someone come in and do their own thing. I certainly don’t want someone to come in and try to do what I would have done. We want to hire someone who’s gonna come in and bring their own sensibility. I’m very excited to see what comes next, despite feeling jealous of whomever that person is.

-The STAR WARS spinoffs confirmed to serve as origin stories

(Disney CFO Jay) Rasulo also noted that one “Star Wars” trilogy film or “origin story film” would also appear on the release schedule each year, starting with the seventh installment in the “Star Wars” saga that J.J. Abrams will direct and Disney releases in 2015.

-Warner Brothers CEO Describes Ben Affleck’s Batman as Tired, Weary and Seasoned

During an investor conference yesterday, Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara said that Ben Affleck’s Batman will be “tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for a while.”

It’s the description of the Batman that will be in the upcoming untitled “Man of Steel” sequel in 2015.
In addition, Tsujihara believed Affleck is the perfect choice as Batman.
“We think it’s the perfect springboard for Batman and Superman,” he said. “Ben is perfect for the vision Zack has for that character. The fact that you saw such a passionate response in the blogosphere is really kind of a testament to the love that people have for this character.”
He also hinted there will be a lot of announcements from Warner Brothers’ DC Comics unit soon.

And, amazingly, yet more casting news for the currently in-production The Expendables 3:

Kelsey Grammer enlists for The Expendables 3

Word is that Grammer will play the role initially offered to Nicholas Cage.

Also, there's a rumor out there that Arnold Schwarzenegger may star as the villain in Avatar 2:

Arnold Schwarzenegger to reunite with James Cameron for Avatar 2?

Both great news articles - a fine addition of Kelsey Grammer over Cage ANYDAY, and to have Schwarzenegger in 'Avatar 2' I think will work brilliantly well!

News from The Hollywood Reporter: Paramount is probably moving "JACK RYAN" to open in January. They claim that this is because Scorsese´s "Wolf of Wall Street" will not be ready in time for its November release date and therefore in need of "Ryan"´s Christmas date. If Scorsese can´t finish to cut down his 180-minute film then "JACK RYAN" might stay in its Christmas slot.

Weird, especially considering "JACK RYAN" was once conceived as the big re-boot for a new important franchise.

I can believe that Scorsese is tinkering with his film for longer than the studio wanted him to (happened before, many times). But I cannot believe that they sacrifice "JACK RYAN" for Scorsese and bury it in the January graveyard for bad movies without it being... well, bad. With the lack of advance PR for the film, "JACK RYAN" definitely seems to be in big trouble. Damn. I was hoping for Branagh to excel here.

But Paramount chose both films to produce.  And Scorsese´s film is only used as a reason to hide something about JACK RYAN.

Obviously, or else I wouldn't have replied in the first place.

Maybe Jack Ryan needs extensive work done because of what they saw, didn't impress them. I wasn't impressed or even remotely interested when I heard about Branaugh being the director of the film.

-George Clooney Says He “Terribly Destroyed the Part” of Batman, Comments on Ben Affleck

“I am the least qualified person to comment on anyone playing the role of Batman since I so terribly destroyed the part. I tend to look at it like this – let’s just see what the movie is before everyone starts beating him up. He is a smart man, he knows what he is doing.”

-David S. Goyer Comments On ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ & Which Superhero He Thinks Would Win In A Fight

‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman vs. Superman’ screenwriter David S. Goyer recently opened up about the status of the follow-up to ‘Man of Steel. “One of the things that has been fun for us, is we’re a bit a further along than what I think people realize. From a fan point of view, you’re conscious of that when you’re working on these things, but you can’t let yourself be paralyzed by that. At the end of the day you still have to create something. And if you try and think, ‘Well what would the fans like’ then you stop being creative. It’s sort of like where does it end? You have to write the story that you want to write, and hope that people want to see it.”

David S. Goyer was also asked the age-old question in comic fandom: who he thinks would win in a fight between Batman and Superman? “Most comic book purest would says Batman because he is the ultimate strategist. Even though it makes no sense what so ever. If Superman just flicked his finger Batman would be done for.”

I'm not sure I'd entirely agree with Clooney on his assessment.  Clooney was the least of Batman & Robin's problems.

It's not the trailer that everyone has been hoping for, but they've released a new poster for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (which is yet another new title for the film, if I'm not mistaken) today:

EDIT:  Apparently the picture doesn't want to show up.  Here's a link to the article with the poster included:

As for the novels, I don't see anyone else trying to write them, much like the Bond series, IF you catch my drift. As for the film, It's October, and we still have no trailer and the release is in two months, so I guarantee it'll be released by next spring.

The poster is not my liking, I´m afraid.  But it´s definitely doing what the PR guys want: allude to Bond and Bourne without offering any distinctive character.  Of course, the result is bland and run-of-the-mill.

Agreed.  It kind of gives off the vibe of being a much duller version of the Bourne Legacy poster, which is, as you said, most likely the point.  One really has to wonder about this film at this point.  We're now in October and are just getting a poster for a film that's supposed to be released in December.  There's still no sign of a trailer, or any indication that one's coming, and the film has had two title changes already.

It does remind me of a Bourne Legacy poster. I really enjoy Chris Pine and action movies so I am definitely a sucker to this but I don't think it will do well at the box office.

David Ayer's Sabotage with Arnold Schwarzenegger has been pushed back to April 11th, 2014. A better choice I think, as The Last Stand didn't do too well (despite being good) opening up in January. One also has to think if it's still being tweaked with by Ayer and Co. Hopefully a trailer is released soon, and hopefully with Escape Plan.

Other than that, Ayer has recently begun principle photography on his World War II film, Fury, with Brad Pitt and Jon Bernthal.

A foreign poster for Sabotage was also released. I can imagine that this will be released in English if it's the first poster the studio decides to release .
