Ben Affleck As Batman? Thousands Sign Removal Petition

http://detroit.cbslo...-to-remove-him/

I think this is really mean. It's one thing to say you don't like him acting but it's another to create a petition...

When it was first announced...

People hated Keaton as Batman...
They hated Ledger as the Joker...
They hated Craig as Bond...

That's all I'm going to say.

I think there's a difference, though.  Craig and Ledger were at least considered to be good actors prior to their being cast as Bond and the Joker respectively.  I think their casting in those roles was looked down upon initially because they didn't fit a certain mold, not necessarily due to a perceived lack of acting skills.

Affleck really isn't that strong of an actor.  Affleck manages to turn in decent to above-par performances when he's also serving as the film's director (see The Town and Argo), but he's mediocre at best over the rest of his performances.

That's not to say that I don't like Ben Affleck.  The man's a very, very talented director, and I think that he'd probably turn in a better Batman vs. Superman than Snyder were he to be the one in the director's chair.

That's not really fair just because you don't think he is a good actor doesn't mean that that's true. I happen to disagree with you...

But it's true: He IS a much better director than actor and belongs behind a camera now, not in front of it.

I will agree with that he is much much better as a director than an actor, but I don't think he is that bad.

The last film he was in that I thought he acted wonderfully was The Town, which he directed. Before that, I'd say 2006's Hollywood Land, and before that.... Can't think of anything else that he was remotely good in.

I am very shocked with the Affleck casting....BUT I have to remember how wrong I've been proved with other controversial casting:

Daniel Craig as James Bond = billion dollar success

Heath Ledger as The Joker = Oscar winner

I remember even Christian Bale was an odd choice at the time. I am excited they at least have a well established name, and his recent success seems to give some faith Affleck has the knowledge and drive to give this new Batman a big, fresh statement to launch the new era of JL.

I feel more comfortable with Affleck's casting now that Bryan Cranston is playing Lex Luthor.

I've heard of him but don't think I've seen Cranston in anything....

No. Certainly heard of him but not seen him in anything I remember. Sounds a strong player though in the industry, shaping up quite well is this casting.

Cranston is a fine actor indeed, however, I find that people give him way too much credit. He is good on the show Breaking Bad, but the show isn't that great and I find it to be overrated.

Oh Ace, i'm glad we'll never meet, it'd end in tears. We have almost nothing in common!

Breaking Bad is quite possibly the greatest TV show ever made.

To add my humble opinion to this:

I find BREAKING BAD extremely overhyped as well.  A typical series for critics who love to prove how edgy they are, since they like a story about a drug dealer, told with visual tricks and tons of violence.

Like GIRLS, BREAKING BAD is not bad but far from the revelation so many critics want people to think it is.

Cranston, however, is a great actor.

As am I, as I find it a bit sad that you can't respect my opinion regarding the show, as well as other things ;) . Having only watched up until half of season three, Breaking Bad, from the start, was a decent show, with an interesting premise, but the concept and the story got stale quickly, as do most shows (eg: Dexter).

Greatest TV Show ever made? No, not by a longshot.

I'm glad I'm not alone on the show as well. Good analysis on how the critics are "wow'd"" by it. I don't think I've ever met an adult who was into Breaking Bad. It's always more of the teenagers and the young-adults who are into anything that comes off as remotely "edgy".

Since the show is ending this year, It'll be great to see Cranston move on from the show into other great ventures.

Oh I do respect your opinion. But I'm not altogether surprised that you don't like it, we seem to butt heads on a lot of issues haha.

I do agree with you about Dexter, it started off so well but got stale after season 4 finished. Whereas I think Breaking Bad has got stronger as the show has gone on.

Cranston is a fantastic actor, his portrayal of Lex Luthor will be interesting to see.

Good for James Spader. I was reading a rumor the other day that JARVIS might turn into Ultron but guess not.

Timothy Dalton would be an interesting choice.

Detroit to be used as both Gotham and Metropolis in the upcoming BATMAN/SUPERMAN film!!

Bryan Cranston shoots down Lex Luthor rumors

“Six? This is all news to me," he said to Boston.com. "I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.”

First trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It appears that the Marvel movies appear to be taking a decidedly darker turn.

I am very interested in this movie. The first Captain America I thought was really decent for a superhero movie. I think everyone is well cast and Chris Evans has the Captain America look. Overall I can't wait.

I agree. I thought the first Captain America was the second best of the Marvel Phase 1 films after Iron Man. Cap 2 def looks interesting...and better than Thor 2. I think Marvel is setting Captain America up to take over as the lead superhero of the films instead of Iron Man.

I thought I heard that Chris Evans who plays Captain America is signed on for like 8 films. Either way this film looks great to me.

I'm fine if Episode VII does not come out till 2016 cause I might just get into the Expended Universe's novels.

Yea, but remember those 8 films are probably like Sam Jackson's 9, where he cameos in most of them. It'll probably be Cap 2 and 3 and Avengers 2 as the main ones and then cameos and post-credit scenes in the rest. I'm waiting on word for what they have in store for Mark Ruffalo's Hulk.

Yeah that would definitely be interesting. It was definitely a nice surprise to see Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. He was definitely better than Edward Norton and Eric Bana.. that was one horrible movie.

Eh, I thought it was overly long and boring. I actually liked the 2008 film, but thought that Edward Norton and Liv Tyler were grossly miscast. Had Ruffalo been in that film, I think it would've been a lot better.

Looks great to me. Not as epic as I thought it would be but it seems like they are also holding back on us, no sentinels in it either. We get quick shots of almost everyone even some new mutants we haven't seen on film yet, I believe we see Sunspot, Blink and Warpath. Bishop had a brief appearance as does Peter Dinklage and his 70's mustache. Beast and Storm look and seem to me to have smaller roles in this, less of Halle Berry isn't a bad thing. I feel bad for Rouge since we see Iceman and Kitty together again, perhaps Gambit will make it into this film or the next. No sign either if Jean Grey or Cyclops have a chance at returning but one can hope. Watching it a third or forth time I noticed the President of the United States looks to be Nixon.

Based on the timeframe, I think the President should be Johnson, but I could be wrong. I will say though, that for the first time in a very long time, I am genuinely excited for an X-Men movie. Also, I don't think Jean Grey or Cyclops will be appearing, but you never know...

Love the trailer for 'X-Men: DOFP' - I think it was just presented in a clever, striking way and not opting yet for slam-bang CGI action.Granted not all the SFX are complete, but this felt more character driven and that's what excites me with old and new faces coming together.

As for the recent 'Captain America 2' trailer, sad to say I was very under-whelmed. I loved 'Captain America', more so for being set as a period action film. It had brilliant sets and old-meets-new technology to give that classic World War feel to a superhero film. It was fresh and looked very different, yet was entertaining.

Now, the sequel just looks to be another noisy CGI paved action film. Car chases, explosions, CGI ships... I just didn't feel it was offering anything new on what 'Captain America' was and now will just be another extended post-Avengers actioner. Sort of sucked the enjoyment out of it for me and I'm not too eager for it at present after that.

Weren't you the one who said that you didn't like Shailene Woodley and that she was horribly miscast or is that someone else?
