The Twilight films started average and went downhill very fast. I'm embarrassed to say I saw Breaking Dawn, Part 1 and it was terrible.

US Box Office - Day 27 (Wednesday)
Casino Royale -> $736,891
Quantum of Solace -> $568.128
Skyfall -> $1,214,376
Skyfall US Total -> $249,433,656
Even more interesting...
Wednesday's Numbers
Skyfall -> $1,214,376,
Lincoln -> $1,154,173
Breaking Dawn -> $1,137,336
It´s really interesting that SKYFALL is hanging on to audiences, getting them back again and again (LINCOLN is surprisingly successful, too).
THE HOBBIT will take a huge bite out of SKYFALL´s box office next week. And then JACK REACHER and DJANGO UNCHAINED will get the male audience (after having seen SKYFALL at least twice). But I would not be surprised if SKYFALL were still performing exceptionally well during the holidays, way into January.

I don't know anyone that has seen this new Twilight film, are they even any good? I've never watched one.
I saw part of the first one on TV. Lasted about an hour. If I remember right I think I saw vampires playing baseball or something like that.

It's sort of like Dawson’s Creek with fangs.

It may not be first or second during the holidays, depending on how good both Jack Reacher and Django Unchained are but should be able to stay in the top three or four.

US Box Office - Day 28 (Thursday)
Casino Royale -> $717,776
Quantum of Solace -> $578,866
Skyfall -> $1,186,424
Skyfall US Total -> $250,620,080
Can Skyfall break 300 million? QOS did 15 million and CR did 34 million after its first 28 days. It looks like it just might.

Skyfall back to #1 in the US!
http://www.deadline....or-keeps-bombs/
Posted 09 December 2012 - 05:28 PM
Skyfall's world wide gross has reached $918m - It's now passed Spider-Man 3's $890m to become Sony's highest grossing film of all time.
Another extraordinary achievement.
I think getting to over one billion is now more a question of 'when?' or 'by how much?' rather than 'Can it?"

I think we reach one Billion before the movie starts in China

Agreed.

Incredible what positive word of mouth can achieve.

US Box Office - Weekend 5
Casino Royale -> $5,627,644
Quantum of Solace -> $3,715,522
Skyfall -> $11,000,000
Skyfall US Total -> $261,620,000
Outrageous.

Not only is it back to #1 but Twilight has been bumped down to #3.
A billion may very well happen before China. I keep underestimating the box office.

Great news. It's amazing that it went beyond our predictions and achieved so much more!
Posted 09 December 2012 - 08:15 PM
that's great to see it still going. i wish it could get to $300 million here in the US, but that looks doubtful.
as well as it's done i think of movies in the last few years doing better....Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean getting to $400 million...UGH.

That's why I always say that Bond does comparatively better in foreign markets than it does in the U.S.. While U.S. box office does account for more of its earnings than any other single territory, the Bond franchise is IMO far more popular internationally than it is here in America-- just look at all the box office records Skyfall is breaking in non-U.S. markets. And according to boxofficemojo's list, Skyfall (the highest grossing Bond film domestically) is currently at #60 in the all time domestic box office chart. It's nowhere near the likes of Pirates, the Avengers, or Nolan's Batman trilogy.

QOS did 6% of its business after the first 31 days which would put SF at $277.3 million with the same finish.
CR did 18% of its business after the first 31 days which would put SF at $308.4 million with the same finish.

I'm loving this. Of course The Hobbit is going to take 1st next week but it's great to see Skyfall still hanging in there.

US Estimated Ticket Sales
TB 74,800,000 ( 1)
GF 66,300,000 ( 2)
YOLT 35,904,000 ( 3)
SF 31,623,300 (4)
MR 28,011,200 ( 5)
DAD 27,584,000 ( 6)
TND 26,911,200 ( 7)
FRWL 26,663,200 ( 8)
DAF 26,557,300 ( 9)
CR 25,428,700 (10)
I'll be curious to see how this ends up by the end of Skyfall's theatrical run. Looks like it should pass You Only Live Twice to become the 3rd most successful Bond movie. Total ticket sales is the most accurate measure of how successful movies are when compared to movies released in years past. In that regard, Skyfall is doing quite nicely.

Anyone think Skyfall can catch The Avengers?
Posted 10 December 2012 - 06:22 AM
Life of Pi has already made over 53 million dollars in China. So being that Shanghai and Macau are featured in Skyfall -- it is not outside the realm of possibility that it will make very BIG MONEY over there. Skyfall still has the legs to pass a billion dollars in the territories it is already showing -- so the final box office take should be around 1.1 billion dollars -- which means that it will be in the top 10 biggest Box Office movies of all time. Well done Skyfall (it currently stands at number 23 in worldwide box office).

Its soo great I still cant believe it!
a comment from deadline
My 79yr old parents saw Skyfall in a theater. Very broad appeal.
Very true, went to a sold out t-giving showing of Skyfall was full of extended families from the kids to the grandparents, something I haven’t seen since the good ol 90′s. After spending years bemoaning low ticket prices turns out all it takes to bring people back to theaters is a great script, great director and talented cast, who would have guessed it.
so true!

As someone above, I too keep underestimating the box office and perhaps therefore, I still wonder whether it could reach $1bn bearing in mind The Hobbit is nearly upon us.
What is the datestamped consensus? Yes or No?
Posted 10 December 2012 - 12:22 PM
I've been saying it for a while, it will reach one billion without China, with China it might even out gross TDKR.
Even with the Hobbit, it will pass $950m by next Monday.
In fact, (I'm feeling brave here) I think Skyfall will get to a billion before the end of the year.
Posted 10 December 2012 - 12:29 PM
And I raise with this: SKYFALL will be more successful than THE HOBBIT.

Oh, now that is an interesting gambit!
Do you know? I think I agree. I think the Hobbit will be gigantic opening weekend, but will not have as an impressive hold as Skyfall.
